WHO: Jack Harkness, Ianto Jones. WHAT: Ianto's coffee shop. WHEN: Mid-afternoon. WHAT: Jack decides enough is enough and moves away from 'home'. RATING: TBA! STATUS: Complete.
After a hundred or so odd years in one place, it felt strange to be packing up and moving. But it also had been a hundred years and Jack was ready to move on. The deaths of Owen and Tosh still weighed heavily on his mind and every day at the Hub was a constant reminder of what he had lost. Things were at least bearable with Ianto around, but then even he had left too.
At that point, Jack had started pulling in new team members, training them to take the reigns from him. It was time to move on, time to go somewhere else and be the hero. Left in such a way that Torchwood 3 could function on his own (and still had a provision to return to leader if and when he so chose), Jack had packed up his belongings and set out across the ocean to Canada. All right, he wouldn't lie. Knowing Ianto had gone there it was as good a place as any to start, wasn't it? Yes, he knew there were still issues between them, but he could start there and move on (or return) if things went even more sour.
Which was how Captain Jack Harkness found himself standing outside a coffee shop, hands tucked in his trouser pockets, greatcoat flapping in the wind with his rucksack slung over one shoulder. After a long morning of travel, Jack needed a cup of coffee and given the choice between a proper shop and a convenience store, Jack chose the shop. He pushed open the door, stepped inside and damn near dropped his bag. He knew that figure, god how he knew that figure. Keeping his face impassive, Jack slowly walked up to the counter, leaning one elbow against the edge and waited to be noticed.
