Ianto was lucky it was only an arm around the shoulder. If he had his druthers the other man would be sitting in his lap and Jack wouldn't be responsible for where his hands was. Touch had always been a large part of Jack's life, always loving to watch the way people reacted to those gentle touches, enjoying it all the more when it was someone he cared about.
Jack knew there was something wrong. One didn't sleep beside (in a manner of speaking) another man for as long as he had without picking up a few things. There was just something that didn't quite reach Ianto's eyes.
"Partner in deed," Jack replied, though the smile faded when Ianto continued to speak. "My lot in life," Jack said with a slight shrug of his shoulders. "It is bad, but it could have been worse." A deep breath. It really was now or never, wasn't it? "Had I actually perished I never would have met so many people." Another pause. God, why was this so hard to bloody say, even now? It shouldn't be. Just say it, Jack. "Fallen in love."
