Remus smiled only a little bit, then tightened his hand around Harry's briefly, before using it to help himself sit upright. Only once he was up and Harry was sitting beside him did finally look once again at Harry, blue eyes locking onto green tiredly.
"Your father?" He prompted quietly, then took a moment to think it over. He could imagine what other people might have told Harry about his father.. those who liked James thought he walked on water.. but those who didn't? Well. They didn't exactly say nice things about the young Potter boy. And you either loved James Potter.. or you hated him. And, despite his being such a big hit in school, it was about fifty-fifty. And Remus, of course, didn't want to seem bias (it was just his personality).
"Your father was.. wonderful. When he wanted to be. And he was a holy terror when he wanted to be. If you weren't one of his friends, you were just some person. But if you'd ever wronged him, he never forgot it. And he never forgave.. it just wasn't in his nature. He was charismatic and charming and it was easier for him to win over girls, just like it was easy for Sirius to win them over. They were both playboys, and it earned them both a fan base, and a hate club." The werewolf let out a slow breath, it was much easier to think about this than the fact that he'd just torn a man's spine in four pieces. This was easy. This was comforting.
"He was a good friend of mine, one of my best. But your father had faults. He was a good man and he tried to do what was right, but he wasn't perfect. He had his prejudices, just like anyone else. Honestly, I was terrified that he was going to find out what I was.. because when we met in First Year, the first thing he told me was that he was going to be a werewolf hunter when he graduated. That he was going to rid the Wizarding World of the monsters. He was only eleven, but so was I, and I was scared he'd make good on his aspirations, if he found out what I was. But he proved me wrong. Whenever I thought I had him all figured out, he always had something else up his sleeve, something else to confuse me. Your father was.. happy. He always was, in Hogsmeade, in detention, it didn't matter. He always made the best of all situations. He was -- is -- a good man, even though he didn't always do good things."
