She wasn't antisocial but it was beginning to seem that way.
Back home, there was a sense of obligation to social graces. You stood out enough to be noticed, but not enough to make an impression. Get in, get out, get paid. It was an easy formula. But in a small town with smallish morals and a disgusting sense of community, the redhead began to withdraw, blossoming only for the moments of 4AM bar-hopping to pick up a cute, drunk boy and...
...and...
Well, it seems needless to elaborate.
What bothered her now, sitting on a rickety excuse of a bench and caught in the hypnosis of tumbling, swirling clothes, was something that Ianto had said.
You don't know too many people either, do you?
Who did she know? She knew Barney. She knew Barney so well that she didn't want to know him anymore. Why she hadn't seen him in nearly a month. Why she avoided the bar at times that she knew he'd be there, playing Her game on a smaller and (in ways) more innocent scale. Why she left the hotel despite the obvious luxury Red preferred to her threadbare apartment.
Her clothes tumbled the nervous way her stomach sometimes did, and Red wished she'd brought a book.
