New Rules For Game Play
1. Follow the Golden Rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated. We will not accept nor tolerate player bashing.
2. Absolutely no OOC drama will be tolerated. If you have a problem with another player, work it out with them. If you find that you are absolutely unable to work it out amongst yourselves, forward copies of all correspondence to aftertomorrowmods (at) gmail (dot) com and we will help to settle the dispute.
3. All IC interaction must occur in the main game community - aftertomorrow. If you would like to preplay a scene, play a scene via IM/email or play something in your private journal, a log or link must be posted in [info]aftertomorrowfor it to count as game canon.
4. All players must join at_ooc with at least one of their character journals. All official mod announcements will be posted here. All character availability notices are to be posted here. All applications will be posted here.
5. Players may choose to join at_lounge for ooc discussion, plot planning and random chit-chat.
6. There are no character limits per player, provided all characters meet the activity guidelines. No player may control more than three characters from any one fandom. All characters must be active at least once in a calendar month to retain their status in the game. Players will be given one warning if their character is not active. After that, the character may be removed from the game. The use of tags will help in this process.
7. Players must contact all other players in a fandom before applying as a character from that canon.
8. After Tomorrow is a post-apocalyptic game. This means there will be dark themes and character death is not only allowed, but encouraged. Character death may occur randomly and without warning (though never without the OOC permission of the player). It also means that mods may at any time choose to impose random events on the game at large without warning (including, but not limited to, weather events, attacks, and supply shortages/outages).
9. No player may "godmod" another player's character without permission.
10. Characters will retain their canon powers. However, in some situations, the powers may be dampened somewhat or subject to interference by the rift energy. Those cases will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.
11. Sex and violence are allowed (and expected). However, out of respect for your fellow players (who may be playing from work or school), please lj-cut and include an OOC warning on any posts containing either. If it's NWS, label it as such.
12. Due to the energy fluxtuations in the rift opening, most electronics are fried. Even if the device survived the rift opening, there's nobody at the phone company and nobody at the power plant. All the gasoline in town has been seized and is being used by the Torchwood/Stargate crew for a generator that runs the technology that keeps the rift from tearing back open. And that, by the way, is a finite amount of fuel, so we'd all better hope they find a permanent solution before it runs out.
If you have a device that canonically runs on an alternate fuel source that would be available, that's a different matter. If your character can rewire a car so it runs on garbage, go for it. Just remember that energy fluxuations can sometimes cause... unusual side effects or glitches.
13. Any plot that might overturn the status quo and cause chaos should be discussed with the mods and we'll consider it. It's the end of the world. There should be chaos. This is not a safe place. But the mods need to have the ability to somewhat control the chaos. That being said, chaos is fun and there will be game wide plots.
14. Original Characters (OCs) will be allowed in After Tomorrow. However, there are a few guidelines that we insist upon. First, make sure that the OC is really an OC and not a fandom character with the name you created. Second of all, please check with the members of the fandom that your OC will be belonging to in order to give them the heads up that you will be bringing in an OC. NO MARY SUE/GARY STU characters will be allowed.
15. Please make sure there is some kind of disclaimer on your info page. We have included a basic template here. You don't have to use this exact one, just use some kind of disclaimer as a CYA for yourself and the game.
Rules are subject to change at the mods' discretion, but only with fair warning and after discussion with the player base.
