Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Tanis and Tarquin
What: Nothing good, that's for certain
When: Monday evening
Where: Tanis' apartment, London
Rating: Likely high.

Tanis was bored and frustrated. Those two mindsets paired with her destructive tendencies were dangerous enough on their own, but together? Well, she knew better than to let the feeling simmer for too long. There were always things to do , this was true. But there were only so many muggles to kill--she was on a current quest to terrorize a village in South Wales into believing there was a serial murdered amongst them--before it got too easy. Or dull. Perhaps a bit of company was just the thing she needed.

She owled a letter back to her parents saying for the thousandth time that no, she was decidedly NOT interesting in a marriage at any time in the near future, and then picked up some parchment and scrawled a note to one of the few people she could stand for more than a few minutes at a time. Tarquin McTavish.

Darling,

I'm afraid I'm suffering from a terrible case of loneliness. In fact, the solitude is just so great that I'm contemplating ending my life. Of course, that would be a tragedy. Come over and perhaps we can end some others instead? I feel the world would be lost without me.

-Tanis

The beginning of that note would likely make him laugh aloud. She held herself in far too high regard to consider suicide. While she waited for either a reply or for McTavish to aparrate into the foyer, the owl she'd sent to her parents came back with the name of another possible suitor written on it. Well, that was interesting. She set the letter down, shooed the owl off, and lay back on her chaise lounge, a book in her hands. Reading was better than nothing, and if she didn't hear back from Tarquin soon, she'd simply go out on her own again. It was hardly anything to fret over.

While evening owls were not truly uncommon, they were still a bit of a novelty. When he read who the owl was from, the novelty grew further still. What could Tanis possibly want this evening? Though he really did not ponder on that, since there were few things that truly occupied her pretty head. Luckily they were often things he was very entertained by, so the two got along quite well.

Opening the letter, he read it with amusement. Knowing Tanis as he did, it was more of an order than a request. While orders were not something he particularly liked, he knew that it would certainly bring more amusement to his own tragically dull evening. After all, when one had an opportunity simply dropped into one's lap, it was not to be ignored. Had he not been contemplating the same activity just a bit earlier?

Setting the letter down on his desk, he immediately apparated over to her abode. Walking down the foyer, he looked into the living room. "Tanis? Do say that you haven't already decided to leave."

She heard the familiar pop of someone apparating into her spacious apartment, and knew immediately that it had to be Tarquin. Anyone else would have gotten entangled in her wards and found themselves in a very uncomfortable, even painful situation. After all, a young women like herself living alone could never be too careful, right?

"I haven't left. I thought I'd give you at least half an hour before I struck out on my own," she called, peering over the back of the chaise.

She set the book aside, but made no move to rise. Instead, she simply watched as he came into the room with the usual sinister smile on her face. "Good to see you dressed sensibly. Not that you normally disappoint on that count," she said. "I do hope I didn't interrupt anything too terribly interesting for you. You know I hate to be a bother."

One did have to worry about who could get in. It was simply dreadful to think of all the degenerates that the ministry let roam around. Nowhere was safe from them. But then they were here to change that, now weren't they? Those who went against the law would quickly find themselves not just caught, but lacking of the life they had once took for granted. That all worked out to perfect logic in Tarquin's mind.

"How very kind of you to be so patient." he replied with a slight smile as he headed towards her voice.

Entering the room, he walked over to the front of the chaise. Looking at his clothes for a moment, he shook his head. "Well, you're simply just full of compliments tonight, Tanis. I may become flustered." Upon her inquiry he waved the matter aside. "You're never a bother. Especially with a matter as important as this."

"I would hardly call it patience," she said, swinging her legs over the side of the chair to switch to a sitting position. Time to get directly to business.

"It is quite an important matter, actually," she said, getting to her feet. "I've caught wind of a quaint little family reunion in Brighton. A lovely get-together, really. Apparently, this family has a habit of stealing magic. Two muggleborns in three generations. Each of these are married to other muggleborns and they have mudblood children. One of them, a Michael Landry, is very outspoken against our Lord. It's become rather grating, and I believe he needs to be taught a final lesson. What do you think?"

One could always count Tanis to ignore pleasantries in lieu of something much more bloodied. It had to be truly admired. So many of their rank had little sense to them, so puffed up in their importance that they lacked any true reality. Luckily he did not bother himself much with them. Otherwise a great deal more of them would end up dead.

"Well that certainly does sound like a delightful way to spend time, my dear." he said with a nod. He did not much care if one was speaking out against the Dark Lord. Tarquin's own loyalties were one of suspect at times. However these muggleborns were trying to upset what was truly good about society. It really could just not be tolerated.
