Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Current mood: naughty

Who: Tala Travers and Barty Crouch Jr.
What: ...errands...okay, so that's what Tala calls them, but really, its torturing innocent people.
When: June 5, just after 3pm
Where: Diagon Alley/Knockturn/Travers Manor
Rating: VERY high...lots of torturing to be done!

Tala had been seeking out potential subjects of amusement for the better part of the day.  There had been little activity in the last few weeks, and she was growing tired of being good.  Of course, in her view, she was doing things for the good of humanity, showing those lower than herself their right place, but today there was no real purpose.  She'd been desperate to hear the familiar screams of someone enduring the Cruciatus curse, for it had been much too long since the delightful noise had reached her ears.  She was due for a fix, if you will.  It was almost an addiction, one that she simply couldn't ignore.

Luckily, just as the clock turned to three, she'd spotted her targets.  They were cute, a couple that were quite obviously muggle born simply by the way they were dressed.  She found that the more she observed the woman in the red hat, the more she itched to reach for her wand.  There was a very good feeling that told Tala she would scream, and quite loudly.  Those were always the best, the ones that didn't try to be quiet.  Sure, it was admirable to be brave, but she much preferred them scared.

As she was scoping out her targets, trying to decide on her technique, she checked her journal to find that Barty Crouch had written her a little note.  It would be even better to have a partner in her endevor, someone to share her spoils with.  Upon invitation and acceptance, she learned he was sitting just there, just away from the targets she'd chosen.  She smiled slightly to herself, standing in the shadows of Knockturn Alley, unnoticed by everyone.  Trying not to be impatient, she watched with hawks eyes, waiting for his move, because she was very eager to make her own.

Well, today had certainly taken an interesting twist. Summer holidays had only just begun too. But Barty was bored and had been busy roaming the streets of London, only popping into Diagon Alley for an ice cream cone. And then, after idly flipping through his journal, he came upon Tala's entry. She sounded just as bored as he was.

And as luck would have it, she was nearby. Closing his journal, Barty stretched, climbing slowly to his feet, his eyes floating over to the Muggleborn couple. Quite obnoxious, weren't they? He folded his hands behind his back, after tossing out his serviette, and made his way to their table. "Oh, afternoon," he said with a charming smile, ducking his head as if embarrassed. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I see that you have the new book on Charms and Love Potions. I was wondering if you could direct me to where you picked it up - I've been scouring every store in this silly alley and have yet to come upon it!"

He sounded and appeared very earnest. The couple smiled in return and began to chatter on about the book and how fabulous it was. Barty wasn't listening, really, he simply nodded, waiting for Tala to make her move. "I see!"

Tala wasn't quite so familiar with this technique of luring in her prey, but they seemed to be interested in what Barty was saying. She edged closer to catch what exactly they were talking about, some book...with a well placed, innocent smile, she emerged from the shadows and rushed over to them. She seemed like nothing more than an excited teenage girl.

"Oh, Barty! There you are! I've been looking all over and--" she looked down at the table to see what book they were talking about, Charms and Love Potions. Interesting, "Oh, they've found the book! I had no luck either! Oh, please, would you show us where to find it?" she gave the naive woman hopeful eyes. She seemed to be slightly reluctant, but nodded anyway. Looking up at Barty, Tala gave a sly grin and a barely noticable wink.

"Marvelous day, isn't it? I just have this feeling that something...spectacular is going to happen," she bubbled easily as the couple gathered their things and began leading Barty and her down the street a ways.

At the sound of his name, Barty muttered an 'excuse me' to the couple and turned to look over his shoulder as Tala approached. Where had she been hiding? He smiled brightly at her, nodding as she came to stand next to him. He allowed her to take the lead - and it was a good thing she did. They were making progress!

He followed behind the couple, walking in step with Tala. He smiled at her, hands in his pockets. "Marvelous day, indeed."

Charms and Love Potions. Please. He laughed.

She looked at the couple and then back over to Barty, spotting the perfect apparation point. She clearly mouthed, 'Follow my lead. My house.' Before putting a large smile on her face and squealing delightedly. She came closer to the couple, taking the man's arm, and pulling him down a short Alley that was a branch off of the main road, "I want to take this detour! There's actually a fabulous little shop all the way down here!" she lied, pulling the man along, hearing Barty and the woman behind them.

When they were a safe distance down the dark alley, Tala stopped abruptly and turned to Barty and the woman, keeping a firm hold on the man's arm, "Barty, I believe you know where to go." With that, she disapparated to the Travers Manor, taking the man with her. He seemed confused, but it was remedied with a quick and simple petrificus totalus. One fly in the spider's web, one to go.

It wasn't hard, was it? Luring gullible idiots. Trapping them. Barty smiled politely at Tala before she departed, leading the man ahead of him and the hat-woman down a side alley. He continued talking to her about the book, by way of distraction, until just before Tala disapparated with a surprising, but telltale pop!

The woman's hand was nearly to her mouth - she was startled! - when Barty grabbed it and blackness squeezed around them before anything else could happen. When it finally dissipated, Barty blinked a moment, bringing in the room around him before whipping out his wand. He saw the man lying petrified on the floor.

All right then. Aiming his wand at the stunned woman, he called out: "Petrificus Totalus!" And she was down for the count, blinking wildly, immobile on the stone floor. The Ravenclaw smiled, turning his eyes to Tala. "Well!" He wiped a hand across his brow in show.

Tala smiled deviously at Barty, stepping carelessly over the man and over to the woman. Her red hat lay on the floor. It would be such a nice souvenir, "Well done, Barty," he had followed her plan perfectly, but her intentions were changing, "Sometimes...you must altar your plans. At first, I thought they may just be fun to play with," she spoke smoothly. She enjoyed the look of panic in the woman's eyes. Crouching down, a slow smile spread across her lips. With one pale hand, she reached out and ran a finger deliberately down the side of the woman's face. The girl couldn't possibly be more afraid, "Now, I want to kill them. Have you ever killed someone before Barty?"

She looked up at her younger accomplise, "You have to make a most important decision," she lilted, turning back to observe her prey as she spoke, "would you like the kill messy or clean?" She had no real preference this time. She just wanted them to scream. With a delighted laugh, she stood once more and walked back over to the man. He was stronger, not quite as paniced. In his eyes were the steely signes of determination.

Tala smiled at his foolishness, "You're going to watch her die," she told the man matter-of-factly before smirking, "And its going to be so. Much. Fun." The man wanted to break free, she knew, but the magic was too strong to escape. She'd been told on more than one occasion that she was a bit...sadistic. It was probably true.

After petrifying the woman, Barty bent down to pick up her hat. He held the thing in his hands and smiled down at its owner, who stared wildly up at him, but - ah. What was Tala saying? He looked over at the woman, his eyebrows raised in curiosity.

Had he ever killed someone? The boy frowned and gazed briefly at the young couple on the floor, listening to Tala. He watched her interact with the man. But... killing someone... it was much more serious than just hurting them.

No, he'd never killed anyone. He wasn't naive to murder and had seen it done. But. It was never by his hand. After all, taking a life was very serious. It launched the oncoming of oblivion and - it was too much for him to understand, all the consequences.

"Oh," he said finally, clearing his throat. "No."

Recognising the peculiar tone in his voice, something that indicated fear, that he was unsure whether the action would be wise to take or not, she smiled at him slightly, "If you don't want to kill them, you don't have to, Barty. You can join in on the fun, and I'll finish them off. I've already killed my fair share, after all. If you aren't up to it, the committment, that's understandable," she stood and walked over to him. Really, she'd been a bit nervous about her first kill as well, but...it was just so...easy. The thrill was such a simple thing to obtain, which is partly why she'd taken to picking her prey slowly, meticulously.

She gave him a wry smile, "I remember my first kill. She was a muggleborn witch. Not worthy of the magic which ran through her veins. She'd been blessed, she told me," Tala laughed, "Her blessing got her killed, the little mudblood. She was barely worth the curse, but she had a lovely scream. No one yet has matched it."

She turned back to the woman, peering down over her, "Would you like to try, poppet? Would you like to scream for me?" she quickly remembered that she needed to retrieve their wands, and with a swift flick of her own, they came soaring into her hands. Now that they were defenseless, what was she going to do? Well, she hadn't quite decided on which way she would like to begin, so she turned to Barty instead, "Is there anything you'd like to try?" The gleam in her eye was unmistakable. She was definitely ready for the screams to begin.

Barty looked away from Tala as she spoke to him and focused on the hat in his hands. He smiled at it. He didn't know if he could kill someone - not with someone else watching. That seemed dangerous. Eventually, he turned his gazed back on the older girl. He managed to give her a smile as well and slipped his hands into his pockets, left-hand fingers around his wand.

"No. I do need to practice my Cruciatus, but." The Ravenclaw frowned a little and walked around the muggleborns, watching idly as their wands were taken. For him this was less about the thrill and more... pragmatic, but he didn't mind the fringe benefits in the least. He moved to sit on the ground, a few feet away from the woman. He set her hat down and looked at her. He bit his lip.

Maybe he should just... do it - just kill someone, because then it wouldn't be so terrible the next time. And certainly, it wasn't like anyone would know besides Tala. He propped his chin in his hand, in thought.

"But what?" she urged him, the first sign of annoyance crossing her pretty features. She wasn't usually edgy, but she was so close to her thrill that she could taste it, but nothing was happening.

She walked over beside Barty and kneeled down to peer at him, "If you have to take this long to decide, chances are you won't do it. And I am not fond of having to wait," with that, she stood up and walked to the man, magically moving him to sit up and lean against the couch, still bound and obviously aware that it was about to begin. As soon as she was sure he had a perfect view, she spun around on her heel.

With a perfectly devilish smile, she threw out her wand arm in an almost overly dramatic, but very effective manner and screamed, "Crucio!" And she meant it, with every fiber of her being...the woman's scream was so deliciously sweet. She looked to Barty, "Do you hear the perfection in that?" It was definitely a good day.
