Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Andromeda and Ted Tonks
When: Thursday night, late
Where: Their house
Rating: TBD
Summary: It's night time, Ted's coming home late from the pub, and Andromeda doesn't like going to bed without him. Shhh. That's a secret. We'll see what happens.

It was quiet in the Tonks household. This was somewhat of a rare occurence, as there was typically some sort of antic going on caused either by the daughter or the father of the house. Tonight however, Nymphadora had already been tucked in an hour ago, and Ted wasn't home from work yet. While one might think this would give Andromeda a moment of peace to relax, it actually wasn't something she particularly enjoyed. Sometimes she complained about the messes and destruction left in the path of her two favorite people, but really she loved their seemingly neverending supply of energy and all the laughter they also left in their path.

Tonight was one of the nights when Ted worked late at the pub, and on those nights Andromeda let Nymphadora stay up an hour later both because she wanted the company and in the hopes that Ted would get home in time to tuck her in. The extra hour came and passed, and Andromeda had to put Nymphadora to bed. One extra hour was plenty; she didn't want to completely throw off her daughter's routine. After staying with her until she slept, Andromeda returned down to the kitchen to start cleaning up the aftermath of dinner. She'd saved it until that point to give her something else to do while waiting. These days, Andromeda chose to clean in the muggle way more often than not. It gave her a sense of self satisfaction, and she just felt like everything was cleaner that way (unless of course she was dusting somewhere too high for her to reach; that warranted a wand). It also took longer and helped the time to pass.

The truth was, Andromeda could've gone to bed at any point after her daughter was safely tucked into her bed. She could come up with a hundred excuses as to why she was still up, but the truth was that she just didn't like going to sleep alone. She'd never admit that to Ted (though he probably knew it) because that was just ammo for him to tease her with. With everything domestically related finished, Andromeda found herself with little to do. She curled up on the couch and wrapped herself up in a quilt. She was also willing herself not to worry. The death of Edgar Bones and his family was also weighing on her mind, as well as all the other recent violent acts that had been reported recently. She was scared. While she wasn't vocal or active in the protesting of bloodism, she also knew her family was a prime target. She had betrayed her family; her exhile had been widely known -- you didn't just quietly disappear from the Black family. Andromeda feared that the best decision of her life had made her family a possible target. Though she told herself she was just being paranoid, she knew that fear wouldn't subside until she heard and saw Ted come through the door unharmed.

Being the co-owner of a pub was quite a lovely job for Ted Tonks. There was very little to dislike about it. He was with one of his best friends, a muggle named Asbury (more colloquially known as Asby), he was in one of his favourite scenes (a pub), and he got to deal with people. Sure, half of the people were belligerent and smashed out of their minds, but they were characters in his life nonetheless. Plus, going home after a night with smelly pub-goers was more than enough reason to go to the pub at all. Either that, or going home with a few beers in him was never a bad thing for him (even if it had landed him on the couch more than a couple of times). Tonight, however, was Ted's late night. Asby had a prior engagement - if he didn't, Ted would have insisted he come visit Andromeda. It was Ted's cruel way of enjoying the much shier Asby's personality thrown into Ted's most comfortable environment. Tonight was not the night for that to occur though.

After waving his friend off duty with a batting of the eyelashes and a blown kiss (you see, Asby had a date, and Ted couldn't help but tease him a bit), Ted was the only owner on bar duty. He was not the only one working, of course, but the nineteen and twenty year old servers just weren't as much fun to tease, mostly because they were just as quick to respond as he was. His lonesome bar hours were nearing an end and Ted let the regulars know that last call was approaching. He refilled their mugs and eventually with help from the younger workers, brush them out of the pub like they did every night.

Helping the crew clean up, Ted eventually wound up at home with a big sigh as he opened the door. It wasn't a sigh of boredom or even relief, but just a sigh to start his comfort of home. He was convinced he was the luckiest of men. He would, sadly, never experience the tired husband, grumpy housewife situation that he had seen on television. Of course, the two had their tiffs, their individual moods, and their imperfection, in fact, their relationship was based off of an extreme imperfection in a social aspect. However, Ted was feeling good tonight. Sure, his arse was tired from standing all night, but there was luckily, a couch nearby and even more luckily, a woman on said couch.

Ted tried his hardest to be quiet, but the man was not the (sure, he was never exactly stickly) fit boy he used to be. His habit of clumsiness didn't help at all either. He nearly tripped over the boot he just took off, but he walked up to the couch as quietly as he could manage. Arching his own arms over the arm of the couch, his hand found Andromeda's shoulders and he pressed his face against the top of her head, constituting as some sort of makeshift kiss. Putting his foot on the arm of the couch, he haphazardly stretched his other leg over his wife, landing his bottom between her and the back of the sofa. "Hello, Beautiful," he said casually, his hand finding and rubbing at her shoulder blades.

Andromeda hadn't yet fallen asleep, staying awake by her sheer will to remain conscious until she knew Ted was home. She had fallen into that state between being awake and asleep where she was conscious, but a little out of it. This was normal, her waiting up for him. She didn't mind it, as it was by her own choice that she did it. Andromeda was sure that Ted wouldn't be angry with her if she chose to go to bed before he got home. He might even encourage it. But she refused to do it. They'd never spent a night apart, and as sappy as that sounded, Andromeda wanted her husband to be the last person she saw before she closed her eyes and surrendered to slumber. In light of recent events, this became even more of a need to her.

Yes, they certainly did have their fair share of arguments, but they rarely lasted. As angry as he sometimes made her, Andromeda couldn't help but find his shortcomings a little endearing. Really all he had to do was smile at her, and she'd cave (though she might not admit it during the heat of the moment and pretend to be angry a little longer).

She stirred and her eyelids fluttered as he leaned down over her and gave her his own version of a kiss. When she felt herself shifting and the weight of his presence behind her on the couch, she snapped back into being fully awake. She made a soft noise of protest at being moved, that could almost be described as a growl. But Andromeda smiled as his hands started working their own magic on her and sighed softly. This was what she wanted, what she'd been waiting for. "Hi," she said. She leaned back against him, which, as he probably had come to learn, meant she was happy to see him.

Ted was a man of habits. These habits could prove to either be irritating, annoying, or the occasional endearment. He was lucky enough, again, to find someone who would often notice them as endearing. Of course, he deserved more than half the reprimands he got from his wife. He never killed anyone, no, but because he was a man of habits, the less than perfect (which is most of them) habits were magnified more than a normal man's habits. However, because Ted only had one drink in him and he wasn't causing a huge commotion in a sleepy household, his habit of nearly constant physical contact was most likely excusable.

A tired Ted usually amplified this habit and he usually found his affection rather innocent and excusable, but he knew for sure that it was more than excusable when he heard Andromeda's response and felt her weight lean back on his own. It was nearly therapy for him, the warmth of her, and the knowing fact that she was comfortable. Once she leaned back, he knew he was off the hook for whatever he may or may not have done.

Because the lights were nearly all off, the quilt was on them, and his hip joints were rested on the cushions, Ted would have sworn he'd never been more comfortable. Knowing he had probably woken Andromeda up from whichever cycle of sleep she was in, Ted took the opportunity to keep her awake a bit longer, despite how tired he knew she was. Also, despite the fact that he suggested she go to bed without him most late nights, he leaned his forehead against the back of her head and said, "Why are you awake? I expected to come home to a warm bed with a woman in it." He was joking, of course. He knew all too well the power of an insulted woman, his sister had made sure to never let him forget it.

Their imperfections were part of what made them mesh together. They weren't the perfect couple and didn't pretend to be, which in turn might've made them as close to perfect as one could achieve -- flaws and all. The fact that Ted wasn't putting on a show, trying to pretend to be the perfect man (the exact type of boy she'd been expected to be with), was part of what kept her so attached to him. He was real, genuine, and there were no false pretenses about him. He was who he was, without shame. Andromeda had a lot of respect for her husband, even if he was an obnoxious git and messy as hell.

Andromeda was all too tempted to stay this way and spend the night on the couch together. That wouldn't be the first time she'd done that. She'd sent Ted out to sleep on the couch more than once when he'd irritated her beyond the point of her being able to take it anymore. But she'd always end up on the couch with him at some point, curled up against his back. Either that, or she'd bring his half-conscious body back up the stairs to bed with her after she felt he was punished enough.

Her smile shifted into a slight grin. "Are you sure you came home to the right house, then? Does your other wife do that for you?" She too was teasing, something she enjoyed doing when she was in the mood for it. Tonight, being playful was something she needed in order to ease her worry from the news. She was more than a little relieved to have Ted home and next to her, and their daughter sleeping safely upstairs. Now she could relax, and enjoy a little playful banter with her husband before turning in.

The irony in the Tonks family was undeniable. One of the reasons Ted could live with himself after realizing how much Andromeda suffered to be with him was that he was almost positive this marriage was better than any marriage her parents could have set up for her. Good blood didn't mean good people, or even good company. While that might be a bit crass of Ted to think, it's what kept him from the ultimate guilt trip.

Ted was, indeed, a couch sleeper. He was the younger sibling, the boy - when anyone slept on the floor, it was him by default. It was appropriate. He could probably fall asleep anywhere when he was ready to admit he was tired. Ted was comfortable so long as he could feel Andromeda's breathing pattern. Sure, the news of the Bones' family was on his mind, as well. This was one of the main reasons he remained neutral, or as neutral as a sarcastic, hufflepuff mudblood could be. However, it was hard to keep it in his mind while he was in the place he liked best, as contradictory as it may seem.

Every time Andromeda snarked at him or rolled her eyes or smirked, Ted wanted to squeeze her tight and pinch her at the same time. He knew she was fully capable of snark, he had fought against it for years, but when he knew she didn't mean it (like she would often play during classes), he liked it even better. He did like to think he had some influence on her ability to hold her own in pub talk, though.

Ted snorted softly against Andromeda's hair and scoffed as if offended. "Well, I'm pretty sure," he turned to look around at the room, "This looks familiar, if not too clean to be the right house." He turned his face back to Andromeda and spoke into her ear, "This seems right, though," he stuck his hands into her sides and squeezed, then playfully traced one of his hands up her back and the other to peruse her facial features, "Yeah, this is definitely the right female."

Andromeda had struggled in the beginning to adapt to the decicion she'd made to leave her family in order to have a life with Ted, but she never regretted it. They had their share of issues, just as any family. Even so, she had adjusted and loved her life. She would never trade in what she had now for anything. It wasn't so much that she had changed after meeting Ted, it was just that he brought out the best in her; a side that even she hadn't known was there.

For Andromeda, relaxation had never come natural. She had always been a little uptight, though she'd calmed down considerably over the past five or six years. At least, when in the presence of her husband and daughter. Curling up on the couch together wasn't something she'd ever seen her parents do, nor had she seen them ever exchange much affection towards each other. The occasional kiss to the cheek, but that was all she could recall. It was why she'd been a little awkward when first engaging in their relationship. It wasn't that she didn't want to be close to Ted, it was just that she didn't understand the concept of affections right off the bat. She still wasn't overly affectionate, but in moments like these when they were alone, Andromeda craved it.

As he continued the now running tease, she smirked a little. Of course, she squeaked and squirmed when he squeezed her sides. It drew a soft giggle from her which caused her to promptly cover her mouth with her hand. Like hell she was going to give him the satisfaction of hearing a giggle.

She found herself turning her head towards his hand as he touched her face, a natural reflex he pulled from her. She shifted and turned over so that she could face him. "You'd better say that, Theodore Tonks. Or else I'd have to whip you and your other wife." Andromeda slid one of her hands up to fluff his hair a little. She knew better than to try to fix it into place. It was futile. And she liked it that way. "I'm rather comfortable, so I'd prefer not to have to slap you."

If Ted was no the luckiest man in the world because of the family he had helped create, it was because of the family that created him. If it weren't for his family, not only would he be a completely different person, if not nonexistent, then this whole favourable outcome would have been that much more difficult. They would have to deal with two disagreeable families. However, the Tonkses were as acceptable of Andromeda, if not more so, then Ted was himself. Afterall, she had done quite a noble (or arguably daft) thing to live how she is living now, and his mother and father were never one to turn someone down, especially someone their son had spoken of positively.

Ted, too, was not changed by Andromeda, but just brought out, amplified, and perfected. It was because of her that he went to half of their classes. It was also due to Andromeda that he became even more of an optimist. Sure, he had the inclinations his whole life, very rarely was someone's optimism actually proven legitimate, at least long enough to realise it.

Also a biproduct of his family situation, Ted was always affectionate. While his father was quite quiet and straight-face, Ted and his father never had any problem with affection. They had, until his father's dying day, greeted with a strong-armed hug. Ted's ingrained reaction to most actions involved showing his response physically, while he had a bit more trouble saying exactly what he felt. For some people, it was not enough, and for other people, he seemed to say much more than he did. And so Ted's hands were either touching something or searching for something to touch.

He loved every bit or reaction from Andromeda and more than half of the things he said to her were said just to get a rise out of her. The corner of his lips couldn't help but curl when she turned to face him. His chin trembled to stifle the grin. Raising his hands in aggravation, Ted sighed, "Who is this Theodore? Seriously. I might have to kick his arse and tell him to stay away from you." He let himself snort out a small laugh. "You kick my other wife's arse and I'll kick this Theodore bloke's arse, all right?" Moving his head animatedly, Ted smiled genuinely at Andromeda, tugging a bit at the large shirt of his she was wearing as he felt her hand in his hair. "I'd prefer not to be slapped, so I think we're on the same level there." He paused and sighed again. It might have passed for a yawn, but he swore it was a sigh. "How long ago did Dora go to sleep?"

It was through Ted that Andromeda learned how to open up, to show emotion and express herself. She didn't have to be a perfect, porcelain doll around him. In fact, he would've made fun of her if she was, no doubt. Andromeda was certain of it, and that he probably wouldn't like it if she was like that, anyway.

Andromeda absolutely adored Ted's family. She considered them her family, and that wasn't something she took lightly. It really meant a lot to her how they embraced her so easily. Andromeda didn't thinks he was quite as likeable back then as she was now, but they didn't seem to care. They took her in and provided for her as if she really was their daughter. It really said a lot about how much they loved Ted, and Andromeda was not blind of that. She was happy to become a Tonks, and was very proud of her family.

She laughed a little. "Well, Teddy, I'm not sure you can beat up Theodore, no matter how girly you think he is." She cuddled up a little closer to him. "I could kick your other wife's arse any day of the week. Just you watch." His animated excitement made her beam a little. She played with his hair a little longer, threading her fingers through the dark strands. "A while ago. She insisted we ready the book about bugs. Only made it halfway through before she was sound asleep. I let her stay up later than usual thought, so that was probably why."

When it came to Dora, it was almost difficult for the man to decide which female in his life he loved more. Not that anyone was threatening his life to pick who he loved more, but the conflict rarely ever crossed his mind. The things in his heart were inscrutable and powerful enough to power a village. It felt as if an outpouring could happen at any moment, but very rarely does. Well, this is a lie. For Ted, it often overflowed daily. Again, he is an extremely affectionate being, probably half the reason why he became to easily excited when he saw the previously tight-lipped Slytherin swear, tease, or let herself loose, even if just a bit.

Teddy. It was much better than Theodore, for sure, but he had heard it many times in his childhood. At the tender age of twelve, he decided that "Ted" would be what he was called. Of course, it didn't last at home. His mother continued to call him Teddy, his sister did it just to mock him, and his father always called him Theodore. His father and Andromeda were the people who reminded everyone else that his name was not, in fact, just Ted. He grimaced shortly at the name, but it turned into a smirk. He couldn't think of many good nicknames for her. He didn't exactly like "Andi" and the only other obscene one he could think of was "Meaty," an abomination of the ending of her name. He figured he'd save that one for another time.

Ted snorted once again, but it soon melted away because she was fiddling with his hair. If he had one physical weakness, his hair was it. Touch i for longer than five minutes, and you'd probably be crushed by his sleeping heap of a body. "He sounds like a ponce, really. Theodore? What kind of name is that?" He smiled against her neck as he leaned towards it. He had a habit of lack of personal space that tied into his habit of affection. "I know you could. I don't know many people who would win a fight against you. There's just me, actually, that I can think of." Unluckily, his eyes were beginning to slide closed against her warmth, but he was never one to choose sleep over interaction - he was always the kid to keep everyone else awake. This time he yawned. "Let her stay up late? You're corrupting our child." He was joking, of course, never would he reprimand Andromeda about how she handled Dora.

It had almost frightened Andromeda at one point during her life when she realized how much she loved both her husband and her daughter. It wasn't something she could into words, even if she had been a vocally expressive person. Falling in love with Ted as a teenage girl had come as quite a shock to her. She had been intimidated by it, and didn't know how to handle it at first. Then after becoming pregnant, Andromeda didn't understand her feelings for the tiny life that had taken up residence in her abdomen. It wasn't until the little girl was placed in her arms that she realized exactly how much she was in love with her daughter. And it was a lot. Nymphadora and Ted were everything to her, and she was firecely protective of them both.

Andromeda had a weird name, it was as simple as that. The nicknames one could derive from it were limited. Most did call her Andi, though she never really felt it suited her personality properly. Her father had shortened her name to Meda when she was little, but other than that she was usually just referred to with her full name. Calling him Teddy was something she did out of affection, whether he liked it or not. When they cuddled like this, he was like a big teddy bear, and that name reference was too convenient to pass up.

She twirled soft strands of hair around her fingers, then released it gently. She loved this, this closeness. It made her feel very wanted and desired, but then, he had a real knack for making her feel that way just about all the time. Andromeda grinned. "Theodore isn't a ponce, but I think you might have a little bit of an edge over him. ..Though you're delusional if you think you could win against me." She lowered her hand from his hair to lightly stroke the back of his neck. "I know, I'm a terrible influence with a knack for breaking rules. But I thought she earned it. She read a whole book by herself today." Their daughter's accomplishments struck a chord within her and before she realized it, Andromeda had wrapped her arms around his neck and was clinging to him a little tighter than she normally would. It stemmed from the thought that Edgar Bones wouldn't get moments like these with his family ever again.

Since Ted was a little boy, he had constantly sought closeness. Of course, it was often called attention seeking, his mother, who was less apt to blame him of seeking attention, liked to call it tenderness. Well, he was a grungy little boy and his tenderness often turned into rough housing, but it was affectionate nonetheless, even if someone ended up with bruises. Sentiment was always appreciated by the young Ted and it was an appreciation that never left him, as he never lost it. Andromeda was probably part of the reason he hadn't hardened over the years in Hogwarts. It was the pursuance of the girl that preserved the strive for affection.

Growing up, he sought out physical attention. He constantly sat at the adult table at celebrations, climbed his way onto his mother's lap, and if she was busy, onto the nearest lap that would withstand his weight and constant moving. He liked hearing people talk and if they weren't talking, he liked to hear them breathing. He had, on countless occasions, woken his mother up in a panic because he swore he saw her stop breathing. As he grew older, it translated into social situations. His friends were often put under the weight of his arm around their shoulders, under the force of his pinning down, over his shoulders during piggy back rides. It had not disappeared, not even faltered. If anything, it grew with age and Andromeda just happened to get the full brunt of it.

Contrasting from Andromeda, this closeness did not remind him of Edgar Bones and his family - it made him forget. If he did have them on his mind, he would have found it inappropriate. To love something simply as preservation for when you do, inevitably, lose it didn't seem worth it to him. He did tend to live in the moment, but Ted found most people would prefer their death be honoured with a cheer and a beer than a frightened clutching onto of loved ones until you can't let them leave sight without having a panic attack. Maybe that was just him. Of course, the Boneses had not crossed his mind since he saw his wife.

Scoffing, Ted looked serious for a moment, "You're a weakling," and a grin slipped on his face again as he mocked her arms which were quite small compared to his. Ted lived for moments like this. Well, he lived for many moments, but this was by far in the top ten. Nearly all ten of them involved the person he was currently sharing the sofa with. He thought nothing of Andromeda's sudden closeness, apart from thinking he liked it. "Damn hooligan. What'll we do with you?" he asked almost mumbling, his eyes moving with the rhythm of her hand in his hair. When Andromeda had ceased, the absence of her hand woke Ted up and he looked at her as she spoke, his own hand finding its way to her hip. "Very true. She reads a good deal more than I do," his voice was soft and boyish, with no attempt at showiness as it did in front of company. With work and a child's bed time to take into consideration, Ted had missed Dora's face for too long. "Go wake her up and bring her down here." He was kidding, of course. He wouldn't object if Andromeda had decided to listen, but the request was a ridiculous one that he hoped she would tease him about. In response to Andromeda's clinging, Ted's hands spread on her hips and pulled her in, his forehead resting again on her neck.

Andromeda had been a sweet little girl, if not a little (well, very) spoiled. She had craved attention that she was often denied. That is to say, she wasn't given the kind of attention she had needed. Sometimes she'd cause trouble just to get her mother to look at her (and would result in her having to wash her face twenty times a day or some other sort of tedious punishment). Her father would show her attention by buying her presents. Sometimes he'd let her stand on his feet and lead her in a dance at dinner parties when she was a child. As a result, she'd never been an approachable girl -- perhaps the most of the three Black sisters, but still there had been a thick block of ice surrounding her. One that Ted had chipped through and eventually melted from the inside out.

These days, it would be hard to find a mother more attentive and devoted to her child. Andromeda wanted to be everything her parents weren't to Nymphadora. She wanted her daughter to know she was loved endlessly and that she would always have two parents who would support her no matter what. Though affection hadn't come naturally for Andromeda at first, it was not unusual to find her curled up on the couch with Nymphadora in her lap reading a book, or Andromeda would let her help make dinner, or the two would come inside a frightful mess from playing out in the yard (of course when that happened she would immediately put their daughter in the bathtub before she got everything in the house covered in dirt).

She pushed all thoughts of anything tragic out of her mind by indulging in playful banter with her husband. Yes, she was considerably smaller than him and their physical strength was really not comparable. She knew that and wouldn't try to persuade him of otherwise. Her form of fighting back was that she'd become somewhat of a leach, clinging to him and not letting go. She had to suppress a laugh when he told her to go wake Nymphadora up. "If I'm too comfortable to lift my hand to slap you, do you really think I'm going to haul myself upstairs to wake up our daughter?" As if to prove her point, she curled one of her legs over his and tightened her grip. "You're not going anywhere, you damn hooligan."

Ted, on the stance of Dora, was both extremely interested and extremely submissive. Afterall, Andromeda was the one who stayed home with her. There was an occasional pang of jealousy that she got to spend so much more time with Dora than he did. Of course, he knew it was ridiculous and he usually subconsciously made up for it by acting like he did with Dora. Loud, rough, and as different as he could. Perhaps it was a bit mean of him, but it was not purposeful. He felt as if every time he saw his daughter, it had been too long since the last time, even if it was only hours.

Ted loved Andromeda for how Dora was and he gave all credit to her. He would say she received her adorable and rugged good looks from him and her lovely demeanor to his wife, but both were probably due to both Andromeda's genes and her influence. It was probably better for all of them that Andromeda minded Dora's messiness. The girl was bound to inherit Ted's messiness or perhaps take on the quality. Andromeda was the only fighting force against it, since she was the one who minded. Ted was never the parent to insist Dora wash her hands or clean up after herself. It was just how it went.

Really, every tease, sarcasm, and swear that came out of Andromeda' mouth made Ted nearly die with joy. It was weird and twisted, sure, but he knew that it meant she was stepping over a line that was drawn for her from birth. It was like watching a friend overcome a lifelong fear with great grace. Applauding was one of is first reactions to it, but it usually translated into a squeeze, a kiss, or picking her up against her will and forcing her even more out of her shell. Ted laughed as genuinely as he always did at home, "If you loved me, you'd wake up my sleeping child and interrupt her sleeping patterns and bring her to me," he raised his nose in the air, an expression he possibly learned from Andromeda. Of course, he was joking, and the only clue, apart from the obvious rashness of the statement, that he wasn't serious was the curling in the corners of his eyes.

Reacting to Andromeda's grip, Ted's face morphed into one of false shock. "This s quite suggestive, Miss. Why don't you keep your legs to yourself?" Looking into her eyes, his lips pursed into a stifled smirk. "This is forced affection! No means no!" Nearly shouting, he pretended to struggle under her grip, but eventually succumbed to it. "Don't hurt me, I'm gentle." His bottom lip stuck out in a pout.

Watching Ted interact with Nymphadora was one of Andromeda's favorite things to do. Nothing made her prouder or filled her heart more than to watch them play, or hear him making her squeal with laughter. They usually left a rather destructive path for her to clean up after them, but it was worth it to see the smile on her daughter's face that only Ted could provoke from her. While she was indeed the one who spent the most time with Nymphadora, she felt that it made the time her daughter spent with Ted all the more special. Ted was the one she would drop what she was playing with (typically leaving a huge mess in the process) and run to when he came home. Nymphadora was a daddy's girl to the core, which in of itself was a trait she inherited from Andromeda. Everytime she saw the two of them together, she fell even deeper in love with her husband and more attached to her daughter.

When Ted did something crude or sarcastic, Andromeda typically was snarky right back. It used to be that he'd irritate the hell out of her and she'd either ignore him entirely (which probably was the worst punishment of all because any attention is better than no attention), or throw a tantrum that could last anywhere between an hour to a couple of days. Of course, as time drew on she learned that it was just easier and more fun to play along and fire right back at him. Sometimes he did piss her off, especially when the situation involved their daughter, but typically she was a lot more easy going and just gave him the same hell he gave her. It was almost intimate. Almost.

Andromeda raised an eyebrow at him. "Are you really going to risk testing my love for you over waking up a groggy five year old so you can play with her?" She smirked at his stuck up nose; if she didn't know better she'd say he was doing a pretty good impression of her from a few years back.

She laughed at him as he struggled. "You're no match for me, sir. I do believe I just beat you. So what was that about being able to take me down, because I think you just lost." She grinned as he pouted. "You're gentle? Just a minute ago you were going to kick some serious arse." She leaned up and bit his pouted lip gently, then drew back and smirked up at him. "I win."

There was a good chance, if genes didn't depend on gender, that Dora's daddy's girl status was also because little Teddy was an undeniable mama's boy. Ted certainly did not act as his father did, although Ted, as he grew older, learned to realise his father was a much softer-souled man than he appeared to be. In fact, Ted was quite like him. Their though processes and conclusive thoughts were probably very similar, but with the female influence from his mother and sister, Ted became much more expressive of those feelings.

Ted might have been similar to his father, but he certainly was not the same type of father. Ted really was a play partner. He had a hard time punishing Dora, but was known to, when in certain moods, reprimand her. To avoid the subject all together, though, he would fill their alloted time together with shrieks and laughs from his daughter instead of him shouting or wagging his finger at her. As unfair as it was, Ted preferred not to play the bad cop.

As with most people, Ted's relationships were based strongly on humour or teasing. Someone who was too sensitive usually ended up disliking him and he was all right with that, he had found a good number of people that embraced him for it, even if he was usually the one physically embracing them. Perhaps he was lucky, as well, for his good fortune in the social aspect. Sure, he was often shunned at school for his blood, but it only led him to find even more people who didn't care about it. They turned out to be better people which, in turn, made him a better person. If he was to be vain, he would like to give himself some credit for bringing Andromeda around to the side that accepted him so openly.

Ted wrapped his arms completely around her middle, "Nah, you're right. She wouldn't be any fun right now, anyway." Snorting at his own self, Ted shrugged, "Groggy five-year-olds are the worst." Ted believe the opposite, groggy five-year-olds, while they may be cranky, were usually more apt to laugh at little things and in that slow chuckle that Ted almost liked more than shrieking laughter. Almost.

It was true, it was clear Ted had lost that round, apart from the fact that he'd much rather succumb to her affection than pull her off and leave the room, even if it meant victory. Giving a stern, almost offended look right into Andromeda's eyes, Ted blinked. "I let you win that time." It may have been true, but the serious look was one that was almost comical to see. It simply did not fit the lines on his face. It was broken, as always, by a muffle snort. "If I beat you every time, you'd lose hope, give up, and we'd have nothing to do," he said matter-of-factly. Ted had spent a few seconds rubbing his face against anything it was close to. He was undoubtedly a nuzzler and had to give up half way through to fully face Andromeda. "I'm a lover, not a fighter. But that doesn't mean I couldn't win a fight or twelve." Ted gasped, "That was very suggestive. You're corrupting me! My innocence is shattered!" He held his lip in fake shock for a moment before his hand found its way to her side, where it squeezed her once again in retaliation.

Andromeda did give Ted a considerable portion of the credit to her transition. The seeds had always been planted, for Andromeda had raised doubts about her blood superiority shortly after coming to Hogwarts. However, it was Ted who nurtured that side of her until she was brave enough to come into her own. She didn't know why he stuck around as long as he did, but she was thankful for it everyday. She liked to think that even without any outside influence she would have eventually heard the voice of reason, but she was also so very glad that she'd never have to find that out. A life without Ted and Nymphadora was not something she wanted to ever dwell upon.

A groggy Nymphadora was a bit of a wild card. Sometimes she could just be downright impossible when Andromeda had to wake her up before she wanted to. The little girl would go completely limp and offer no help when Andromeda would try to dress her. Her hair would be a mess and there was no fixing it, either. On the other hand, sometimes Nymphadora was absolutely precious when she was sleepy. She'd cling and cuddle, burrowing into whatever curve and crevice Mummy and Daddy could offer to keep the sunlight away. She'd say some pretty funny stuff, too. Still, Andromeda was glad that Ted didn't persist in waking up their daughter.

Seeing that stern and almost serious look on his face nearly made her burst into laughter. Of course she took her husband seriously and respected him, but being firm just really wasn't him. That expression looked out of character and almost comical to her. "If you let me win, then I'm not going to learn anything." She purred -- something she hadn't even known a human being could do until it happened the first time -- as he nuzzled against her, closing her eyes for a moment. She was tempted to pout when he stopped, but smirked instead. "Who corrupted who? You were supposedly the dirty one." She squeaked again when he retaliated and squirmed a little out of reflex. "Keep that up and I might accidentally knee you somewhere vital to your 'lover' persona."

Come to think of it, Ted was quite like that, too, when he was woken up. While he might be the one to choose company over sleep if there ever is a choice, he could be quite the child when woken up against his will. He usually woke up with a grimace on his face and a glare at whatever it was that woke him up and, depending on his hours of sleep, his mood, who was around him, he was either very stubborn and sour or very cuddly and nuzzled more than he did presently. With Andromeda, he would choose any of her crevices over the light of day or the comfort of her bosom over his own pillow. He was nearly at that state presently, but was a bit more cuddly than he was when he first woke up.

With that in mind, Ted clung to his wife as much as she clung to him. If he could choose a situation to live within, it would be a moment such as this. It was so simple, but filled with emotions that he had only felt with Andromeda, even compared with the incomparable love of his family. His hands found her bottom, her spine, her neck, her thighs, her face, her cheeks. He loved every bit of her, even the features that defined her family that denied her. If anything, he loved that she accepted who she was despite how she was raised. There were few people Ted respected more than his wife and few people he loved more.

Ted was not insulted by Andromeda's laughing, there was fewer sounds that made him happier. He nuzzle her again in response to her laughter and snark. He simply loved touching her. "You'll learn self respect and risk more to be successful." Of course, he was not the one to give a lecture on self sacrifice. When he realised this, Ted leaned forward abruptly and kissed his wife on the lips without reason other than complete and utter adoration. Sure, it was out of place, but not out of order, he thought. Ted stuck his face between Andromeda's neck and shoulder and spoke into her skin. "Who has ever called me the dirty one? You're perverted and influential on the innocent minded. I was innocent before I met you!" he proclaimed, nearly shouting again, but not caring very much. Ted brought a hang to his groin to protect himself and shook his head at his wife, "that's only be detrimental to your own pleasure, dear," he reminded her, laughing against her skin.

The similarities between Ted and Nymphadora were both amusing and beautiful to Andromeda. Some of Nymphadora's expressions were perfect imitations of Ted's. It was like watching Nymphadora do impressions of her father at times, which entertained Andromeda endlessly. It seemed she'd inherited her daddy's clumsiness too, though she couldn't pin that entirely on Ted. Andromeda, though she hid it well, wasn't as naturally graceful as her sisters. She always had to give an extra effort, so she felt she'd probably contributed to Nymphadora's lack of coordination. Their daughter fascinated her; everyday brought new surprises and adventures to the Tonks household.

There was a time when she would have tensed and shyed away from anyone touching her, especially a boy. This was no longer the case, at least, when it came to her husband. Andromeda craved his touch, and in situations like their current one, she melted against it and was eager to indulge in it. As his hands passed over her body she shifted against his touch, sighing softly and running her hands along his back. She grazed her nails across his shoulderblades through his shirt and purred.

When Ted kissed her, Andromeda was not about to pass up the opportunity to return it. There didn't need to be a reason for the kiss, as far as she was concerned. Spontaneous kisses meant more to her than a kiss born from reason. She returned it tenderly, one hand sliding up the back of his neck to thread through his hair again. Her other hand continued to trace between his shoulderblades. "Oh yes, love, I'm an absolute wicked influence and you were my unsuspecting prey." She laughed softly and twirled her index finger around a strand of his hair. "I don't know about that." She grinned, though he wouldn't be able to see it given his positioning. "We probably don't need it. We've already reproduced, and there are other ways you can pleasure me."

As if to deny any kind of narcissism, Ted swore he did not notice or overtly enjoy the moments where Dora's faces was nearly identical to his. To be honest, he didn't notice it as much as everyone else had pointed it out. He supposed being ignorant to the fact was better than being vain about it. He felt, luckily for Dora, that she got a good deal of her mother's facial features and her voice. Ted figured Dora could be the clumsiest person in the world, it wouldn't make a difference when it was obvious she was the most beautiful. Wow, so Ted is overtly sentimental in his thoughts. However, he knew it was true and silently thanked his wife for it by pecking her on the lips again between their teasing.

As was obvious to everyone Ted interacted with, he was a touchy being and while he wouldn't force it upon people right off the bat, he would force it on people that he thought would like it or even react to it somehow. If he had made you a friend in his mind, you were up for grabs. Literally. The person would either have to leave, tolerate it, or enjoy it. Some would even return it, these were the people Ted loved spending time with simply because they were fun. However, Andromeda was the biggest tangent from this character trait. While it took her a long time to be seemingly comfortable with his affection, every centimeter closer she got to him, the more he became realistically attracted to her. It fueled his boyhood confidence.

Now Ted relished each and every touch Andromeda accepted, but lived for every touch she placed on him. Ted was a pecker, and as soon as he knew Andromeda was in a mood he loved and broke away from the kiss she gave him, he placed pecks straight onto her lips, which he often found more affectionate than otherwise. Between pecks, and blinks, Ted found Andromeda's eyes again and nodded, "I was, I know. It's a serious situation, really." It was not serious, not even a tad. For one, it was a complete lie, if not the opposite of what really happened. Closing his eyes to her hand in his hair again, Ted nearly purred himself before it was interrupted by Andromeda's comment, when his eyebrows shot up. "I'd still like to have it, thanks, in case you decide to leave me for this Theodore bloke," he shook his head at her, shifting his hands on her hips, "I'm innocent, remember? Remind me how I can do these things." He smirked between some more pecks to the lips and was probably looking to see her squirm in response to his question.

Andromeda had put a good portion of her pride behind her, but she was quite proud of their daughter. Almost every parent believes their child to be special and one of a kind, but the fact was that Nymphadora really was special even without her spitfire personality and seemingly endless energy supply. Her being a Metamorphmagus confirmed it. Andromeda wasn't just a biased parent; their daughter really was a unique and special addition to the world. That was a rare gift, and the fact that she and Ted -- whose relationship had been deemed filthy -- had created her was the icing on the cake. Andromeda knew that their little girl was destined to do great things. She just wanted Nymphadora to stay a little girl for a lot longer first.

For someone as steeled from affection as Andromeda had been, she'd come a long way during their relationship. One would never know it now, judging by how quick she would be to lean against her husband or hug onto his arm simply because he was standing next to her. She wasn't obnoxious about it, and all of her touches were subtle, but the sentiment behind them ran very deeply. Unless of course she had a few drinks in her, then she might get more than a little friendly with Ted no matter who was watching.

The pecks from his lips were savored, and brought a smile to her face. Andromeda loved it, and would let him shower her in kisses all he liked. "Yes, very serious business. But I think you're better off for it. Not so naive anymore." She grinned, slowly raking her fingers through his hair. Her nails lightly grazed over his scalp as she lightly pecked the corner of his lips. Of course, she pulled back and smirked. In the past, she would've blushed furiously and called him obscene. But she knew how to play the game almost as well as he did, now. "Oh, you don't remember? I'm sure Theodore knows all about how to please his woman. He's very creative.." Very slowly, she traced the inside of his knee with her toes.

To be honest, there were countless times in which Ted forgot that Dora was a metamorphmagus. Actually, this often made for comical reactions from him. It didn't scare him exactly, but when he turns his head for a few minutes and looks back to see any number of new neon hair dos, he will either gasp, choke, trip, or laugh. It had confused Dora at times, but after confirming he was not laughing at her, Ted often made the comment that it confused him more than it confused her. He did not consider this an insult, not remembering her rare gift, but moreso flattering. He was proud, of course, but so long as she looked happy, Ted didn't care how else Dora looked.

When Ted spoke of his family it was usually something love filled, but simple. For instance, he usually explains Dora as "spunky, clumsy like me, expressive," where as he would describe Andromeda as "intuitive, patient, and simply brilliant." While these words may mean very little to the people he may say them to, it is clear in his voice and expression that his passion is enough, whatever the words he says may be. Those who have met Andromeda and Dora can vouch that these words are nearly perfect to describe them, and few involve physical details. Why? While Ted knew Andromeda was far too beautiful to be with him, he never really described someone solely in physical terms. It was usually the rest of the public that required physical description to know of someone.

It was always a compliment when Andromeda would show overt affection, especially if there were other people around. In fact, it had the effect of making him a bit bashful. He didn't expect close affection, say, while they were at the pub. Her admittance of their marriage was enough to make the others envious, but he often, if she had a few drinks in her, would allow her to dote on him, but not return it fully. Well, not until they were elsewhere. This was mostly because he respected her too much to have her act that way in front of a bar of regular pub-goers, even if half of them were their friends.

However, as it were, they were in their own home in the semi-dark on their semi-comfortable sofa in a semi-suggestive positioning. He respected her enough this time to do what he thinks she'd enjoy. The pecking continued, some on her neck, some on her cheeks, her forehead, but most directly on her lips, almost how a child would say goodbye to a family member, genuine and tender. "Naivete is fun," Ted paused, shook his head, and snorted at himself, "Well, not really, but I think you owe me. You didn't even ask permission to take away my innocence." Between pecks, Ted would speak in almost a whine mixed with a coo, giving his wife a few hurt looks, "Yes, well where is this Theodore bloke now? I don't see him here offering anything to you." Ted smirked at his wife, not knowing if she could even see his smirk, but he leaned his forehead against her neck, her face, her chest, placing some more fervent pecks along the way.

It certainly made life more interesting having a daughter who could change her hair color or sprout cat ears when she felt like it. The problem was, she was still so young she couldn't always control it which sometimes resulted in her having neon orange hair for three days, or donkey ears for a couple of hours. That was why she couldn't go to primary school, and why her interaction with muggles was very limited. Couldn't risk the possibility of her breaking that whole law of secrecy. Sometimes it didn't seem fair, but it was fortunate that Nymphadora's sunny disposition kept her from ever really complaining about it.

Even though Ted didn't go on and on about how much he loved and adored his family, Andromeda knew how deeply his devotion ran. He didn't have to say it, just as she didn't. It was evident in the way he smiled with his eyes, the way he played so whole-heartedly with Nymphadora, and spread through Andromeda with every brush of his fingertips and lips when he touched her. Even though it was nice to sometimes hear him speak of his love, Andromeda got all she needed from his smile.

For so long they'd hidden their relationship, and it was a wonder she didn't take every opportunity to show it off once everything was out in the open. Some people might have done that, but that really just wasn't her style. She didn't have to plaster herself to her husband in public. Instead, she appreciated the fact that she could reach out and hold his hand if she wanted while they were out, and no one could tear them apart. When the drinks came and she got a little more friendly, she delighted in making him a bit bashful. Part of what kept her from being able to ignore Ted when they were younger was this undeniable attraction she had towards him. She was never obscene, but she did take a hint of pleasure in reminding his mates that she was Andromeda Tonks.

Had she been standing, all of his kisses would've made her weak in the knees. It was fortunate they were laying down, otherwise she probably would've found it hard to stay on her feet. The feeling instead spread through her limbs and caused her to melt in his arms. "Yes, well, you know us Slytherins. Any means to achieve our end," she said with a grin. She cuddled up to him and pet his hair in long, slow, circular motions. "I imagine he's gone to move in on your other wife now," she teased.
