Who: Andromeda and Ted Tonks When: Thursday night, late Where: Their house Rating: TBD Summary: It's night time, Ted's coming home late from the pub, and Andromeda doesn't like going to bed without him. Shhh. That's a secret. We'll see what happens.
It was quiet in the Tonks household. This was somewhat of a rare occurence, as there was typically some sort of antic going on caused either by the daughter or the father of the house. Tonight however, Nymphadora had already been tucked in an hour ago, and Ted wasn't home from work yet. While one might think this would give Andromeda a moment of peace to relax, it actually wasn't something she particularly enjoyed. Sometimes she complained about the messes and destruction left in the path of her two favorite people, but really she loved their seemingly neverending supply of energy and all the laughter they also left in their path.
Tonight was one of the nights when Ted worked late at the pub, and on those nights Andromeda let Nymphadora stay up an hour later both because she wanted the company and in the hopes that Ted would get home in time to tuck her in. The extra hour came and passed, and Andromeda had to put Nymphadora to bed. One extra hour was plenty; she didn't want to completely throw off her daughter's routine. After staying with her until she slept, Andromeda returned down to the kitchen to start cleaning up the aftermath of dinner. She'd saved it until that point to give her something else to do while waiting. These days, Andromeda chose to clean in the muggle way more often than not. It gave her a sense of self satisfaction, and she just felt like everything was cleaner that way (unless of course she was dusting somewhere too high for her to reach; that warranted a wand). It also took longer and helped the time to pass.
The truth was, Andromeda could've gone to bed at any point after her daughter was safely tucked into her bed. She could come up with a hundred excuses as to why she was still up, but the truth was that she just didn't like going to sleep alone. She'd never admit that to Ted (though he probably knew it) because that was just ammo for him to tease her with. With everything domestically related finished, Andromeda found herself with little to do. She curled up on the couch and wrapped herself up in a quilt. She was also willing herself not to worry. The death of Edgar Bones and his family was also weighing on her mind, as well as all the other recent violent acts that had been reported recently. She was scared. While she wasn't vocal or active in the protesting of bloodism, she also knew her family was a prime target. She had betrayed her family; her exhile had been widely known -- you didn't just quietly disappear from the Black family. Andromeda feared that the best decision of her life had made her family a possible target. Though she told herself she was just being paranoid, she knew that fear wouldn't subside until she heard and saw Ted come through the door unharmed.
