Who: Jamie, Kayley, and Oliver
What: Celebrating Kayley's Birthday!
Where: Their home up in Kirriemuir, Scotland!
When: Today!

Birthdays! Jamie always liked birthdays in their family, and today was going to be an especially fun one for Kayley. At least, he hoped so. They'd stayed up the late before- Jamie wanted to be sure to be able to wish her a happy birthday the second the clock chimed midnight, and now they were sleeping in. Ollie knew it was a special day- his da was staying home and they had already made Big Plans about his mum's birthday!

The sun was shining, peeking in through the curtains, and Jamie heard the pitter patter of tiny feet. The next thing he knew, the door was creaking open, and he easily untangled himself from Kayley as he rolled over, smiling as he saw Ollie. He motioned for Ollie to stay where he was for a moment, then reached over the edge of the bed for his kilt. Sitting up, he pulled it on under the covers and then slowly rolled out of bed, careful to not wake Kayley. He and Ollie were going to go make her breakfast.

Oliver was so excited! He loved the days when his da stayed home from work. Not that he didn't love his mum, of course, but it was always more fun with his mum and his da were around! He didn't blame his da for going into the store so much, though- Ollie had been there, too, and it was fun.

Ollie waited by the door when his da motioned for him to stop, watching him curiously as he moved. It looked like he was playing some sort of a game, underneath all the covers- but then his da had stood up, and Oliver noticeably brightened. He rushed forward- as quietly as he could manage, and grabbed up his da's hand, tugging him back toward the bedroom door.

	Jamie smiled, letting Oliver pull him out of the room. They slowed to a stop just outside, and Jamie turned to pull it softly shut behind them. "Good morning, mate," he said, crouching down to Ollie's level for a hug. He picked his son up, hugging him close and giving him a smacking kiss on the cheek. "Did ye sleep well?" 	Oliver gave his da a smack kiss on the cheek in return, letting one of his arms drape across his da's shoulders. He was glad his da was strong enough to pick him up like this, because it made him feel tall! "Aye, da!" he nodded, then added, quieter, "Aye. "No, we'll bring her breakfast in bed and hopefully she'll wake up, then! And her presents!" Jamie smiled brightly and started toward the kitchen. He had asked his mum for some help, so there were pastries and some yummy things. He could do tea, though, and with some magic he could fix up some sausage and eggs to go with the sweets. "We'll make sure she has tons of fun for her birthday today. I promise!"

	"I hope she wakes up when we bring her breakfast," Oliver said, decisively. "It'd be weird to eat breakfast in bed if mum was still asleep there!" Once in the kitchen, he squirmed a bit in his da's arms so he could get a better look around. "Grandmum sent sweets, right, da?" he asked. "What else are we gonna make?" 	"Sausage it is!" Jamie exclaimed, moving to go find two pans- one for the sausage and one for the eggs. Once he had them, he set Ollie carefully on the edge of the counter. "Be careful, mate, okay? Don't wiggle too much- we don't want you to fall down and hurt yourself!" (Reply to this) (Thread)

	"Even if it weren't your mum's birthday, we still wouldna want you hurt!" Jamie exclaimed, reaching over to ruffle Ollie's hair as he found his wand and murmured a quick charm to slice the sausage as he moved to the stove top to turn it on. 	Oliver giggled when his da ruffled his hair. "Aye, da, I know how to do that!" He turned, carefully, on the counter so he could sit cross-legged. There was a bowl beside the egg carton, and Oliver pulled each of them closer to him before reaching for the first egg. "How many eggs should I crack, da?" (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
