[1/2] Oh hey.
[2/2] Yeah actually, are you stopping by Trader Joe's by any chance?

[1/4] Can you get one of those huge jars of coconut oil?
[2/4] Oh and a jar of cookie butter.
[3/4] Like, maybe two jars of cookie butter.
[4/4] I'll pay you back, just let me know how much it costs.

[1/2] big jar of coconut oil and all the cookie butter you can eat. got it.
[2/2] i'll throw in a bottle of wine for you. my treat.

[1/4] Aw, thanks roomie.
[2/4] Spoiling me with two-buck chuck. You really know how to treat a gal.
[3/4] Maybe I'll pick up chicken and rice for dinner. We'll go all out tonight.
[4/4] [...] If you're not busy. Maybe you have plans tonight, being popular and all.

[1/2] hey, come on, give me some credit. i'm willing to go as high as $12. on a teacher's salary, that's pretty respectable.
[2/2] nah, tonight, i'm at your disposal. chicken and rice sounds like it'd hit the spot.

[1/4] Twelve bucks? Shit. You're out of control. Be better with your finances, Mr. Jung.
[2/4] You clearly do not teach math.
[3/4] Cool, I'll grab some. You know, we've been living together for a couple of months now.
[4/4] That's kind of crazy. Time flies.

[1/3] really? only a couple of months? felt like ten years.
[2/3] i'm kidding.
[3/3] i know, it feels like you just moved in.

[1/2] If it was ten years, trust me: we'd be sick of each other already.
[2/2] I think maybe it's because we haven't really hung out. You and I are both pretty busy people.

[1/2] who says i'm not sick of you?
[2/2] yeah, probably. well, it's high time we changed that.

[1/3] Shortly before I moved in with you, I checked with some academic institutions and they proved it was scientifically impossible to get sick of me.
[2/3] Let's not go into this blind. I have a few questions to ask.
[3/3] What do you like to do for fun?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]jungaram
2014-10-17 07:46 pm UTC (link)
[1/3] what's the name of the institution? can i read the report on the study?
[2/3] for fun. i drink. i read. sometimes at the same time. i like to try new restaurants, but usually hit the same bars.
[3/3] what do you think, does that sound acceptable?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[1/4] Oh, I'm sorry. It isn't translated into English yet.
[2/4] You will just have to take my word for it.
[3/4] Sounds pretty reasonable. Very appropriate for a young teacher. Do you read books at cafes and wait for someone to talk to you about them?
[4/4] Because that's what I do.

[1/2] i call bullshit.
[2/2] really? that's what you do?

[info]feiyens
2014-10-17 07:55 pm UTC (link)
[1/4] What, you don't trust me? Do you have any evidence otherwise?
[2/4] Listen, I am extremely personable. I'm good at this people thing.
[3/4] All the time. I just sit there and wait for someone to come up and tell me my book is upside-down.
[4/4] Works like a charm. That's how I make all my friends.

[1/2] that's not how it works. you're the one that's failing to provide proof that such a study exists.
[2/2] i can almost picture you.

[1/3] I thought this was America. I'm innocent until proven guilty.
[2/3] You should try it the next time you go out to a bar. Picks up all the ladies.
[3/3] Then try to explain that you're an English teacher.

[1/2] i'm an educator. i use citation rules.
[2/2] well, you know. i do all right with the ladies. usually the english teacher thing works on its own.

[1/3] Alright, you caught me. I made the whole thing up. I bet you're surprised.
[2/3] But I am sure it's one-hundred percent true.
[3/3] That's what I tell the ladies too. That my roommate's an English teacher.

[1/2] The scientific world is waiting for your contributions.

[1/3] Let me know how your research goes.
[2/3] I'll be a sensitive graphic designer to cover all my bases.
[3/3] I think that's what you get going for you. They think you're sensitive automatically.

it was alright. it wasn't boot camp or anything. i'm sure in some ways, my dad thinks it's a shame that i didn't join the military and became a teacher instead.

[1/2] It feels like parents are always like that. I'm sure mine are pissed I didn't go into business school or something.
[2/2] For what it's worth, I think teaching's a great profession. Teachers do meaningful work. The one I live with does, at least.

[1/2] thanks. it's definitely rewarding work. i wouldn't do anything else.

[1/2] well, i never was interested in business or looking for a corporate office job. i liked lit, but i didn't want to be an academic. from there, i sort of discovered that i liked teaching and then things fell into place.
[2/2] extra for both. drown it basically.

[1/3] For some reason I always just imagine all teachers wanting to be teachers since they were kids.
[2/3] But you know, it's probably more likely they're all like you.
[3/3] You like your food spicy, don't you?

[1/2] yeah, the spicier the better.
[2/2] someday you'll have to tell me the story of how you became a graphic designer.

[1/2] i don't know. ghost chilis might be a little spicier than i'd be willing to go.
[2/2] are you harry potter?

[1/2] i run an assembly on peer pressure. don't think i don't know what you're doing.

[1/4] What? Me? Peer pressure? No way.
[2/4] But all the cool kids are doing it.
[3/4] Nope, I really am Harry Potter. Faye? That's just a nickname.
