Oh hi! Wow, I was cited. Well anyways I agree with you on most points, I did go into that phase of being rabid, that was more like 7 years ago, and 7 years ago the fandom wasn't as widespread as it is now... so for that, well that's that. I think that every appreciator of male/male pairings usually go through that stage. I was there, but really when I was there, it was with original characters.
My favorite thing to throw out is the uke and seme stereotype. I mean most ukes are just hermaphrodites and most semes in fandom are all ABOUT TEH RAEPINZ. There really is no middle ground where that is concerned, I don't know about you but I really like my guys to -look- like guys.
I think that as far as lemons go, buildup is -key-. I mean I used to like pwp but I think that after a while, you get sex and no substance and you just boggle at it, eventually you just want something abit better then fast food.
Really I think that yaoi fans won't listen... it is sort of a come-into-your-own type dealie-o. I've been raged at for liking Byakuya/Rukia instead of Byakuya/Renji even after I explained that yes I like male/male, they didn't understand that I liked -other- non-slash pairings too (and to me, I really like the dynamics of that pairing better then I do the Renji/Byakuya one.. but I don't call out people for liking it.. pairings are just all about personal preference, right?). Anyways I enjoyed reading what you had to write!
