Username Purge (an update)

This is going to take probable 3-4 weeks to get all of the inactive accounts as there are a lot of them and I don't want to kill the servers doing this.

As always you can see what usernames are available here.

  • logging into an account will classify it as active. These accounts had not been logged into during this time. If you are using a cookie manager to switch accounts, it is likely that you aren't triggering an event like typing in a username/password would cause.
    • Squeak this sucks.. I didn't get any warning about purging until I had a notice saying my acct was gonna be deleted in 14 days. Not everyone logs into their accts daily or reads any news pages.. on these kinds of things.. you should send out warning WAY before you decide to make accts deactivated. >:( What if I had been on vacation or had been stuck in a disaster and had no way to access my email for 14 days and then all my accts were gone? I would have been SO PISSED.

I don't access my acct daily because its a private journal that I write about private matters whenever I get emotionally downtrodden so that I can perk myself back up. I would have been SO UPSET to lose so much private content.

There just needs to be a better way to warn people than the current system...

I found this website after Greatestjournal went down. That was where I had my private journal stationed previously. I really liked this website and I do still like it.. but right now this process just irritates me and makes me upset. :(
    • I always log in with LJ-Login via Greasemonkey. Does this mean my logins are not registered somehow? I have posted an entry with all of my accounts. Will this protect them, or are they still in danger of other random purges that many, many of us are only notified of AFTER the fact? (In the age of bookmarks, how hard would it have been to send a message BEFORE deletion? Even Livejournal did that.)

I am highly disappointed in how this whole affair was handled, from the lack-of-information, the deletion of obviously used accounts under the guise of "deleting spam bots," and the fact that nasty harassment of users giving valid feedback of their concerns has not been acknowledged by site administrators, despite being on these very pages.

I must seriously reconsider any further financial support of this site, and I can't be the only one. Some people may be pleased by this, and those people may give you money, but they aren't and weren't the only ones here.
      • Stop flipping out over nothing. "Deletion", as in a little line through your user name, means nothing until accounts are actually purged. Any account with a line drawn through it can be re-activated by its owner by simply logging in and following the link in the email - or simply going to "account status" and re-setting it to "active", and we've all been informed we have two weeks to do that. "Deleted", as in with a little line through it, is only the filtering process. I've been doing all of mine as the reminders have come in since it's actually most convenient that way. If you want to be sure you don't have any that are missed, use that list you made, log into all your accounts so they show recent activity and for the ones that are "deleted" already, re-activate them. Problem solved. Sheesh!
