As we haven't quite met our sales goal for this month we are putting Permanently Insane accounts an Insane Userpics on sale in our store until the end of the month.

Permanently Insane accounts are for sale for $50
Insane Userpics is on sale for 33% off thier regular price at $100 (regular price $150).

    I know I'm always saying this, but didn't you say in May that IJ was "in pretty good shape for the next few months"?

      We are in pretty good shape and do have enough to pay our bills, but we have set sales goals every month to keep it that way and we were running a little behind this month.

    This is a great sale, but this concerns me slightly. :( I think a better business strategy would be to put regular paid accounts on a slight sale. This is a renewable source of income - permanent accounts are not.

      While, in the long run, paid accounts are better for business than permanent accounts, aren't most journals on IJ roleplay journals? Even people who have a permanent RP journal are probably going to make more journals, and pay for those. So for IJ, it might not be as troubling as it is for other sites like LJ.

      I agree with this. While RPers may buy permanent accounts for new journals, I still have trouble seeing how this will help IJ in the long run. :(

      See Squeaky's comment about profit analyses below. I know user habits vary, but I've personally bought more permanent accounts than I ever had paid ones. I occasionally buy a one-month paid account if I want icons for a character I'm not sure I'm going to keep, but I'm not willing to repeatedly shell out $15 for an account when I could just have it free for $50. Obviously, a lot of people do buy paid accounts, but I think that is one user approach that explains why Squeaky's assessments have found permanent account sales to be more profitable.

        I've bought more perm accts to because they are cheaper in the long run, I almost never by paid time cause you have to keep renewing it and I find it too costly for as many as I'd like it for.

          Yeah, agreed. Occasionally I'll do it if I just need an icon fix short-term, but if I have any intention of keeping the journal for more than a month, I'd just as soon buy a permanent one. Having your paid features disappear/icons deactivated because you forgot to renew is a pain.

    Also, [info]squeaky, any chance you could disable custom comments for [info]announcements? The custom comments page is really tiny and squished and :( Also adding style=mine all the time is annoying.

      We are coming up on our 9 year anniversary in a couple months. The wheels are firmly affixed. You may see more of these small or short term sales in the future as we are setting sales goals to keep us out of any financial troubles.

          We have done analysis on past account purchases and have found that permanent account sales have a negligible affect on future sales.

          In fact in terms of total revenue per account, permanently insane accounts, over a period of 5 years generate more income than any other type of account, especially when you factor in rename tokens and extra userpic add-ons.

      TBH, I'm grateful to see the sales. All we got from GJ was silence even when people were willing and able to donate. As long as the communication lines stay open, I think we can stay hopeful.

    Kind of person who is thoroughly lycra zentai, they go out to all parties from all dressed in such a tight, between friends, family members have reached a consensus to accept such behavior, and not surprised.
