About the Ads
Due to the overwhelming load of bad ads that the other ad companies have been delivering to us, I have reverted the site back to using only google ads. While not having the diversity of multiple ad companies might hurt us in the short term, I am worried about that harm that the pop-ups, redirects, and other bad things that the other ad companies have been doing will affect us worse in the long term.

What, really? That's amazing!

I wasn't originally going to buy a paid account, but if you're actually prioritising users over advertisers, I'm tempted to now.

Three cheers for Squeaky!

Hip hip!

Thank you. While I'm paid and don't see the ads, I know there's a lot of unscrupulous ad companies out there who give malware simply because they can. Google is the only one that I know of that doesn't.

Yay! I can safely switch to my non-paid archiving account without ie throwing a fit.

Thank you Squeaky!

The fact that you think of the security of your userbase rather than your pocket book speaks leaps and bounds, Squeaky. Hopefully things can be worked out with your advertisers eventually, but I thank you for this reprieve.

There are ads????

oh right, I'm a perm account.

I highly suggest the same to everyone as this is just another example of your awesomeness and your willing to take care of us before shoving dollars in your pocket.

all hail the [info]squeaky

I'm usually on with my permanent account, so I hadn't seen them, but yikes, yeah, sounds like sticking with Google is the best bet.

Some ideas if additional funding is needed:

First, maybe some Tweak-themed items via CafePress? That could get money up-front from us buying things like T-shirts and buttons, and stuff, and then it would also let us advertise you to the world.

Also, for my smallish fansites, I always had really phenomenal luck with the Amazon.com associates program. Their banners and buttons and links tend to be very unobtrusive and non-intrusive, and generally give great commission returns.

I will definitely make another account paid as soon as I can afford to, though. Thank you for watching out for us.

Thank you. I was repeatedly getting redirects on some of my free accounts that I hadn't clicked on and a few of these were installing trojans and worms on my computer. The only reason I was able to narrow it down as to coming from IJ was based on the fact that repeatedly I would get sudden redirects followed by my virus scan freaking out whenever I logged in to certain accounts.

And nothing but those accounts.

Thank you for taking such an active role in making IJ a place we want to be. A thousand times, thank you. Communication means everything.

Thank you, for taking the ads issue into consideration.

Hopefully, this will help when it comes to the speed the pages load.

Thank you so much for taking care of your users so well, squeaky. I experienced a few re-directs before, but don't think any harm was brought to my computer. Google ads are the way to go.

Thank you. This is why both my accounts are permanent, and why I'm gifting friends with paid time. Because you DO put the users first.

And because I believe in positive feedback.

Now off to try to lure more folks to IJ.

THANK YOU! My roomie and I both had worms/spyware on our computers, and so did a couple of other friends of mine. We've been scared to access ij because of it. Good to know the problem's solved, that gives me a lot better feeling about the site!

If I can put in my two cents, PLEASE OH GOD NO MORE IMVU. Those flashing ads are everywhere. Of course I have a paid journal, so I don't suffer from them anymore... Just thinking of my fellow blogger here.

I got redirected ( on another account, not this one ) just the other day and caught something. Thankfully no harm was done this time... long comment short. The computer 'geek' ( he lives with me ) and myself thank you SO much for getting rid of the non-google ads.

Thanks for taking care of this. I never noticed since I have a paid account and use the God send AdBlock plus add-on for Firefox, but it's nice to know this was important enough to you to solve for everyone else.
