Just posting this as a reminder to everyone that at the end of this month, we are going to end the sale of Permanently Insane Accounts here. I am also going to warn you all well ahead of time, that when we do have future sales of this item, it will be for a higher price than they are selling for now. So if you don't want to have to pay for your upgraded account every time it expires, now is your chance to get Permanently Insane for only $40.

  I'm not too worried, i already permed acounted my personal and writing journals. And While I thought about my RP journals, that might not be such good idea.
  
  But I was wondering, is there reason why you are going to stop offering them? I mean, I know there is, you wouldn't just stop offering them. I just must have missed it.

    For business reasons. Since we have grown past the point where I can afford to run the site out of pocket, we need recurring revenue. And we can't get that if we offer these accounts all the time.

      Makes perfect sense to me. I will then probably paid account my RP journals then as I can afford. This way you have plenty of recurring revenue. I love this site so much and I want to see it run for a long time!

  Sorry, I'm sure this is not the place to ask this but the support area keeps telling me there's a problem and to come back later :(
  
  I wanted to ask : last Wed. I coudn't fing IJ at all : I kept timing out every time I tried to access any pages from IJ.
  
  It came back on its own on Thursday night...
  
  Was it a problem on my end?

    Are you using one of the beta site schemes? You'll need to change it if you want to use support since the beta schemes don't work with the support area yet.

  Hey there,
  this is unrelated and I'm sorry to be a bother but I submitted a support request about a week ago and I haven't heard back yet (if that's normal, just ignore me) and I was wondering if there was a problem. It was about a mistake I made regarding a rename token, I have the request number and receipt number if you need them. Thanks so much!

  Hmm I shall definitely consider this. My paid account expired a couple weeks ago and I was thinking of renewing or buying the permanent account, especially since you have continuously given us good customer service and reasonable prices. For instance if it was well over $100 like on LJ I wouldn't even consider it. Thanks for letting us know! $40 will be a VERY great value in the long run :)

  :D I happily got my perm account last week or so, and I'm glad I did! I just had one question - will Permanent Userpics (or whatever it's called) be offered after the end of the month, or will they be attached to the future perm-account sales?

    Yes, we don't know when, but occasionally we will do a sale like that to boost funds for things like purchasing new servers.

  I currently have two permanent accounts, and I was going to see about buying one for one of my friends, only I found out that they already have permanent accounts. Can I purchase one and have the redemption code emailed to me for me to use or give away later?

  unrelated but whenever i go here http://www.insanejournal.com/support/submit.bml it tells me that there are technical difficulties and that hinders me from submitting a support request about some features that aren't working for me with my self-committed paid account.

  IJ'ers, this is a great deal... I got mine when they were $50 and that was quite some time ago. ...I've been here forever. GET IT WHILE ITS CHEAP! YOU GET LOTS OF STUFF... and I make styles. ;)

  if I order one say today and am paying by money order as long as it gets to you before the 26th of march I'm good right? It will be sent before then but making sure i get that right since i don't have a credit card.

    I paid for mine using one of those Visa gift cards you see at the drugstore. Not the Green Dot cards - those are evil! - but these. It's a lot faster, and you can get a book from Amazon or something with what's left over. ^_^

  I'm not sure which journal I want to make permanent yet - if I purchase the perm code and have it mailed to my email, can I use it after March 1st as long as it's purchased by then? I would pay through PayPal.

  Just wondering; if we've already paid the $10 to test out the paid service and want to upgrade to a Perm IJ, would it be possible to pay the $30 balance and receive that service? Or do we have to pay the full $40 in addition? Thanks.

    You still have to pay the full $40. But once you upgrade to Permanently Insane, you can open a support request and we will be willing to transfer the balance of your remaining paid account to another account of your choosing.

  Hey Squeaky, thanks for the notice, I really appreciate it. Upgraded one of my role-play journals to get permanent + extra userpics. Can't afford the others right now. Just thought I'd suggest that now permanently insane accounts are going, we could get extra userpic add-ons for the self-committed accounts? Particularly in role-play communities, extra icons are a big draw for getting paid accounts in the first place. You get money, we get icons - everyone's a winner!

  not on the topic of perm accounts but there are about three usernames i've been dying to get my hands on but none of them have been renamed, do you know when we may request to have these purged? will be in the near future? i really want to donate money to the site but the only way i can really do that is through rename tokens!

  This is nothing on the topic of perm accounts but I have my eye on about three usernames that were not purged. I really want to donate money to the site but renaming journals is really the only way I can do so! Will there be a time in the new future where we will be able to request usernames to be purged?

• site refusing to load/loading glacially slowly/eating comments

  Are there any updates on what's causing these problems? Every night it does the same thing--it's often slow during daytime hours EST, but from about 7 PM onwards it feels like dialup. Are there any settings I can adjust to help this?

  Another way to raise revenue would be to offer IJ gifts, similar to the ones on LJ, that people can purchase for two weeks and that show up in the recipient's userpage.
  I would be all over those. :)

  I bought a perm account after reading this post. Paypal has a record of the payment, it seems. Buuuuut I'm still a Free Patient. Just wanted to check if there was some backlog or something before I go submitting a big ol' support request or whatever.

  this is obviously old but i'd really like to donate to the site but the only way i can do so is through renaming journals. however, the ones that i want have still not be purged and i'm sure you've receive this question a million times but will there be a time when they are purged or we can request specific journals?
