Another Welcome (and a sale!)

I see we have had another influx of new users here at InsaneJournal. It appears that a lot of you aren't very happy with the announcement over at our competition. I do have to thank all of you, a number of you have already taken advantage of our low cost upgraded accounts, and we really and truly do appreciate your generosity.

I do want to take the time to let you know that InsaneJournal has not ever been in talks with anyone to purchase the site, nor do we foresee there being any interest from either myself or any outside party to acquire this site. I have been running InsaneJournal for the past 6 years and love this site and respect all of our users.

I am going to also take this space to announce that starting today. We are going to be having a week long christmas sale. Until next monday we will be offering Permanently Insane accounts for $35, and we will be offering 12 month Self-Committed[paid] accounts for only $15. Head over to the Insane Journal Store and buy yourself or a friend an upgraded account.

  I bought a permanent account here when I saw the writing on the wall this year at LJ. I'll be handing out IJ accounts this year for Christmas. It maybe doesn't have all the bells and whistles of LJ, but it's got something much more important - the ability to inspire trust in the users. It feels an awful lot like LJ did five years ago, and that's worth a gazillion gadgets.

    And the gadgets will come with time. After the holidays I forsee having a lot of free time to develop IJ. Unfortunatly IJ is only my part time job, I have a full time day job and a 5 year old daughetr and a wonderful wife (insanity) that take up a lot of my time. Thankfully i have IJ to the point where it doesn't take every waking hour to run.

      Dude, you're doing a great job. I'm much happier here without the tricks and bells. If they come at some point, fine, if not, I'm still not going anywhere. I'm just gonna be bribing the last holdouts on my flist with paid IJ time :-)

    I giggled as I read this, because I post almost the same thing as I responded to someone on the news thread on the 'other site'. Hooray for IJ!

      The gadgets will come with time though. I am still working out the bugs in the latest codebase (unfortunatly 6A kinda left the open source community behind so there is a lot of stuff to fix). As soon as it is done and bug free we will have a few more things here.
