Another Welcome (and a sale!)

Previous Entry Add to Memories Tell a Friend Next Entry
I see we have had another influx of new users here at InsaneJournal. It appears that a lot of you aren't very happy with the announcement over at our competition. I do have to thank all of you, a number of you have already taken advantage of our low cost upgraded accounts, and we really and truly do appreciate your generosity.

I do want to take the time to let you know that InsaneJournal has not ever been in talks with anyone to purchase the site, nor do we foresee there being any interest from either myself or any outside party to acquire this site. I have been running InsaneJournal for the past 6 years and love this site and respect all of our users.

I am going to also take this space to announce that starting today. We are going to be having a week long christmas sale. Until next monday we will be offering Permanently Insane accounts for $35, and we will be offering 12 month Self-Committed[paid] accounts for only $15. Head over to the Insane Journal Store and buy yourself or a friend an upgraded account.

Thank you for supporting InsaneJournal and helping for this community to grow and flourish.
  • There are no words for how much I love InsaneJournal and your honesty and integrity these days. You are made of awesome!

It just shows a lot of us did the sensible thing when we left LJ half a year ago.
    • I don't want to bash on them, because Brad and the old crew there really helped me get started. But I have to say they have made some very questionable decisions as of late.
      • Well, the only bad desicion Brad made, was to leave. The rest is courtesy of SucksApart.

If 6A had understood their user base, they had been able to implement a lot of the changes they wanted, but they didn't. They, not Brad or anybody else, ruined whatever changes they could have implemented if they had done it properly and without lying to the users.

They just forgot a lot of people like Brad and yourself were still there, appreciating Open Source, freedom to discuss and post whatever came to mind, and just plain good fun. LJ is not all 15 yo fangirls, and 6A forgot that.

Not so much with the fun now.

        • And if Brad is to be believed he wasn't even involved with LJ for at least 6 months before he left Six Apart. Brad may have made some bad decisions when he was running LJ but at least it did seem as though he truly cared about the userbase.
          • Agreed. I'd love to be able to have a nice sitdown with him and find out what happened there.
          • - which is why he's back, I suppose. LJ is his child, after all. An abused and battered child by now, but still. :D
            • and that abused and battered child is now being passed from 6A's hands to SUP. and that just scares the crap outta me.
it's like it all went downhill. i'm really glad i made the move to IJ.
              • I'm glad you are here. I only hope that Brad really does bring back the open source part of the site that helped sites like mine to begin to flourish.
                • *nods* things were great when Brad was at the helm. I enjoyed and found it fun! Hopefully they'll be able to turn it around!
            • Well I hope that he revitalizes the open source community that used to revolve around the site. It's sorely missed.
            • He's not back working for LJ though, he's part of this advisory board thing that they're going to set up which is supposedly going to be independant of LJ .
          • I agree. I think Brad is a nice person. I don't even think Six Apart are bad people -- they just have a bad tendency of jumping the gun and forgetting the diversity and sentiments of their userbase.
            • That's the problem with a public company. They are beholden to their shareholders by law to make as much money as possible. That's why I keep IJ a private company
    • Word. So much love for the people who have a passion for what they do. IJ is a great example of why that makes a good site.
