Updated Default Comment Settings

Based on the overwhelming feedback from our previous post, we have taken the following actions. First we have changed the default value for who you can receive comments from. All new journals now default to allowing comments from only registered users.

We have also made a one time change to all journals. If you previously allowed comments from "Everybody", we have updated your settings to "Registered Users". This effectively disabled Anonymous comments site wide.

If you would like to return your comment settings to allow anonymous comments, you can simply to go http://www.insanejournal.com/manage/comments/ and set the "Enable Commenting From: " setting back to "Everybody".

  I had made it a note to make my journals friends only in both reading and entries. I don't want unwanted comments from spammers or anyone else that i don't invite.

    Awesome, we shouldn't have made a change to any journals that were already friends' only so you should be safe.

      I know, I just like redundancies. Anyway, thanks for your part in combating and putting an end to unwanted spam. Thanks to the measures I took, I never had issues with them, but I've seen a lot of crap in other people's journals.
