    • Yes we are sure, however if it helps your ease of mind , use the IJ Login link the the toolbar to first go to the secure server before logging in.
  • I don't know if you're aware of this issue, but userpics keep breaking days after they've been uploaded. I uploaded a large batch several days ago. Every time I log in now, another four or five of them have randomly broken. Today I logged in to find that six more are gone. This is particularly problematic for me because I didn't save any of the userpics on my harddrive, mistakenly thinking I wouldn't have to. Is there any way to prevent the userpics I still have from breaking?
    • adding on to this for a hopeful response:

Comment chain on the last post but there's a small error with the icon uploading page, new icons in the last few days appear at the top (on edit and on the display page) where as they used to appear at the bottom.

It's clearly a result of something happening since the crash, so I consider it a glitch. Yes, not so important but still could be a sign of something going wrong with icon uploads.

It messes with not just the upload page but displayed icons, so it's not even confined solely to one section of the site imho. It also is kind of inconveniencing and out of order.
  • Purge question - if we logged into our journals on the last purge and re-activated them, would that mean we don't need to re-log-in to keep them?

Also I got a random email a bit ago (post downtime) and logged in, should that one remain safe?
  • I set several of my accounts to activated earlier today and they were still deleted in the purge. What should I do?
  • hey, i was just wondering why journals started purging prior to 14 days.
  • why were journals deleted prior to the 14 day mark? happened as I was trying to activate them.
  • Received purge warning emails 10 days ago, but when I logged in to save them today they're already purged? I see I'm not the only one wondering about this.
  • also wondering if there's anything to be done about the early purge :/. id be willing to pay to get some of them back, if that's an option!
  • Adding to the queries about the early purge. I'm sure a lot of people were caught of guard by this, no one seemed to know that the cut off wasn't fourteen days after the emails were received once the site was back up and the purge restarted. "Restarting" something would indicate it was starting from scratch, beginning again, meaning we would assume the fourteen day time scale. I donated during the downtime and I'm very grateful for all your hard work getting the site back up but this feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth on that back of that. Can we get our journals back, please.

      • It wasn't the purge starting early I was debating, it wad the purge ending before fourteen days. At no point did I read that the purge would last ten days when it was restarted. Thank you for your input, though.

          • There are people who have lost years worth of content because they weren't made aware it was ten days not fourteen, I appreciate that you don't think it's worth the alternative but others might. People have even offered to pay so they can rescue these journals. it's a big deal.

              • I'm glad for you that you backed up on dreamwidth, well done. Not everyone did that. Not everyone had the chance to log into every journal. Whether the content in those journals is something people will care about in five years or ten isn't really for you to say. Most of my journals are actually safe but I have friends who, now it's the weekend, were wanting to save their journals and can't because of poor communication during and after the downtime. If you're not bothered by it and you saved your journals then good for you. It's a bit silly for you to expect everyone else on the site to share those feelings.

My point is: If at any point in the email it had said an end date for the "restarted" purge this wouldn't be an issue at all.
                • (no subject) - [info]
                  • At no point whatsoever did I say or insinuate that it was done purposefully. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't imply that I have. Like I said, I'm grateful for his hard work and I donated towards his efforts.

Again, thank you for your input.
    • I think what makes this potentially more awkward is that there WAS a specific date given for when the purge would happen -- March 25th, which I think quite a few people were banking on (that or the general 14 days), especially this weekend. I personally saved all of my stuff already, but there were people who've since left IJ and may not be using their old e-mails (and therefore wouldn't notifs) that I didn't want to warn too far ahead of time. Without the specific date, I could kind of get that maybe people should have guessed the time left would continue from the pre-blackout point (even though I agree that 'restart' would mean from the beginning to me), but yeah.

I'm not mad, just taken back and surprised and curious what happened. I don't think anything can really be done at this point though, since a lot of purged names have already been bought by others now.
