We finally have enough submissions so I can post the next theme. I really hope I don't have to put one off again as long as I put this one off. Makes for a boring asylum, don't you think?~

I've been holding off in the hopes we'll get more submissions. Promoting doesn't seem to be helping much either... :( We don't have enough icons to vote off for the last submission and it's a fairly easy theme. There's a ton of favorite series that haven't been licensed by an American company yet so I thought this theme would be blooming with entries.

To start off this very late week (it's New Years, what do you expect?), we are going to be using the theme "Not Licensed in America". Simply put, it's any anime or manga that has NOT been picked up by an American company. So no popular dubbed series like Naruto or Sailor Moon. There are plenty of things out there that haven't been subbed, so get to iconing!

Welcome to anime_awards Hall of Fame for the year 2008. This is an archived post of all the themes used for this year and the winning icons.

I mentioned in my last post there was going to be a new way to compete and there is. I've seen this idea in a few other icontests throughout the sites, so I wanted to introduce it here. Basically, every 3 months (This will happen 4 times a year) winning iconists will have points tallied up. The current system is easy to follow:

First Place: 3 points
Second Place: 2 points
Third Place: 1 point

So for every icon an iconist makes that wins first place, the more points they get. At the end, the top 3 iconists will have their winning icons displayed in another post forever and be rewarded for being so awesome~!

This is a new year and I am hoping lots more people will be interested in making icons for a challenge. To help me with things, I have assigned two extra moderators. I want to welcome jupluna as a back up moderator (for when I am too swamped to post) and our new dedicated banner maker gamera. There's going to be a lot of catching up and fun things added to this asylum, so I hope I don't lose you guys in the clean up.

First off, I wanted to thank everyone who participated last year, for as brief as it was. Thank you so much for the fun times :D! This year is us starting all over again, with a lot of different challenges mixed in. For one, there will be standings every 3 months for iconists. That will be explained a little later on though but it's a chance to earn a unique banner. There will be a lot of 'surprise' banners as well, as long as you're an active member of the asylum.

Be sure to pimp this asylum out to your friends. We're back in business fully now.

This week's theme will be "Emotion". Have your icon clearly depicting at least one emotion. Something as simple as happiness or you can even get more complexed with multiple emotions at once :D
