Who: Shaun, Haytham, Balthier, Isannah, Jacob (OPEN) When: Current Where: Sherr's pub What: A late brunch is afoot, and there’s a bunch of conversations going on. Shaun wants to catch up with Balthier about the problems of mistaken identities. Jacob would like to go back to chatting with Balthier, and it’s hard to find the right way to word it. Rating/Warnings: Possible tense conversation that might include talk about consent / culture / past trauma Status: In progress
Balthier didn’t really like the prices, but he successfully got paid with helping out on a rush job painting scenery for a play. So - he splurged and spent some money on some proper trousers with braces. The pressure actually helps a bit to keep his shoulders steady. And it’s nice to have something that looks “right” and isn’t second hand.
Haytham must be there to talk with Shaun or something, since there’s baked goods appearing in the kitchen. He made eggs coddled in a tomato sauce to have with bread, and made sure there’s some soft rolls if Aedan wants to try it.
Haytham’s definitely around and in the actual pub kitchen, with Arno underfoot, more or less. Granted, Arno’s being relatively useful, in the process, hanging around, adding a few things to some butter, and well, he isn’t drunk, and does know his way around the place better than all but Sherr, and he’s glad they can take advantage of the pre alcohol service hours on a weekend to hear things out a little. Haytham’s...sort of impressed that he’s not a wreck anymore, he will say that much.
“Do we have any extra of the super caffeinated coffee pods?” Shaun’s poking his head into the room. “I found the decaf for Aedan, but I’m not sure where our other store’s gone...Oh Arno, good, you’re not a complete wreck. I texted everybody so we’ll have a decent group if everyone turns up.” He’s not sure about Evie, necessarily, or the fact that he asked her to drag Shay if she could, since they apparently are spending lots of time together. We’ve got slightly a lot to speak about, so there’s that…” And he’s nodding to Balthier then.
“Glad you came too. If we get loud or disturbing, you can always head out until we’re through. I mean, it shouldn’t be awful but if it gets there, I wouldn’t worry about impressing us by sticking around.” He’s shrugging a bit, trying to phrase this in a way that doesn’t sound callous, just anticipating that it might get problematic in the future. “But at least until then we’ve got ...did you make Yorkshire puddings?” he asks Haytham, a bit amused. “Not just for dinner, then, anymore?”
“I wanted to bring fish.” Haytham points out. “Everyone seemed to think that most of you would find that odd.” Which confuses him about their century, but….
“Please don’t,” Shaun agrees, going for a drawer and rummaging around until he finds the needed caffeine. “All right, we’re still just setting up so come through when you’ve got a chance, more people should turn up by then,”
In theory, at least, they should have. In the meantime, he's heading around to wait, taking a minute to glance at the notes typed on his phone. Okay, they've all got this.
