The "a.k.a. Angel" Fan Fest!

The a.k.a. ANGEL Fan Festival!

To celebrate 1.) the opening of Angel Yay! and 2.) the 10th anniversary of the classic BtVS episodes Surprise and Innocence (First aired 01/19/1998 and 01/20/1998 respectively), in which we initially met Angelus, I am holding a fanfic and art celebration!

The purpose of this festival is to explore and honor the many and varied facets of the original vampire with a soul -- from lazy partyboy Liam to Artiste D'Evil Angelus and all the various incarnations of ensouled Angel in between. There's room for every genre here: romance, darkfic, smut of all flavors. Character studies and action-adventure. Horror, comedy, historical fic. It's all there in Angel's story. As long as Angel, Liam, Angelus, or some combination thereof are the center character(s) in the fic, anything goes!

Sign-ups begin on Sept 5th, 2007 and close on December 5th, 2007 at midnight EST. (This leaves plenty of time for NaNo Recovery. *G*)

Posting begins on January 19th, 2008 and will run until January 20th, 2008.

Fics are due BEFORE 12:01 a.m. EST on Monday, January 21, 2008.
The Rules:

- Angel, Liam, and/or Angelus must be the main character(s) in your fic/art. Side pairings and multiple pairings are welcome, however this fest is all about Angel!

- All submissions must be new work, generated specifically for this fest.

- Gen, Het, Slash, Polyamourous Groups (Bring your OT3's and OT4s!) and any subgenre are all welcome, but AU's are NOT. Stories must be based in the Buffy/Angelverse. No all-human fic, please. The only way Angel should be human is as Liam (pre-turning), during I Will Remember You, or in a post-Shanshu future. For an excellent Angel reference, try Deep In, the BtVS Writers' Guild Angel Site.

- Please use a beta or at least spell check and read through your entries. Posts with unnecessary formatting, multiple spelling errors and grammar problems will be deleted. Fics may be reposted once the corrections have been made.

- Entries should be posted on the angel_yay community on InsaneJournal and your personal journal ONLY. Please remember that LiveJournal is now TOS-ing content considered unacceptable according to constantly changing and subjective standards, so the fest will be happening on IJ ONLY. If you have an IJ, please join and post your fic and art on the angel_yay community yourself. If you do not have an IJ, and don't want one, please email me the completed story or art, including the headers below and any special instructions, and I will post it for you with the note "POSTED ON BEHALF OF XX" at the top. Please make sure you give a valid email address for readers to send feedback.

- Icons count as art, but there is a minimum of 10 icons for a submission!

- Please use appropriate warnings and ratings on your submissions. There are no restrictions on kinks, but you MUST clearly label your work so people can make an informed decision whether to read.

- Please inform the mod as soon as possible if you are dropping out of the fest. You can email me at: ducksfanfic AT gmail DOT com.

- A thumbnail of any artwork should be posted outside the ij-cut. Instructions on how to make one are here. The body of all stories, art and icons must be behind an IJ-cut.

- A minimum of 1000 words is required for fiction. There is no maximum.

- Please use the following template for your fic headers:

- Please be respectful of others and don't start any drama. No ship/character bashing will be tolerated here.

	Hey there, I doubt I'll be writing a new fic, but I have Slashing the Angel down for maintenance right now, and when it's up, it will have over 50 new stories, and 20 new essays. I'll make sure it's back up in time for this event, and then I'll pimp the heck out of it on the site. :) (Reply to this) (Thread)

I know. Jesus, it's so sad. But I feel like if I didn't make commitments then I'd probably never write anything.

But I got this idea as I was reading this post, and it would be a piece of cake for me to write, i.e. it is not complex nor stressful, and I *should* do it.

Oh, I SO feel you on that! Deadlines are the only thing that get me moving! I've signed up for a buttload of ficathons over the next month or so. I only wish there was some equivalent for original stuff so I could get my novels finished. Even the one that's contracted doesn't really have a deadline, so I don't feel guilty when I procrastinate.

Oooh! If you're inspired, go! RUN LIKE THE WIND! WRITE WHILE YOU CAN! ;)
