Group Comment Thread (Incomplete!) Who: Edgar Bones, OPEN to the Order (I'll tag you as you post!) When: Tuesday, 18 March 1980 Where: The edge of Edgar's property in Dover, then to the house What: Ed called a meeting to discuss the anonymous owl he received this morning about the ministry being in jeopardy. Rating: TBA, but likely no higher than PG-13
Where his status as an Order member was concerned, Edgar had no doubt that he was known to Voldemort and the Death Eaters. He had no doubt that he and his family were potential targets, which was why the wards around his home were extensive and incredibly strong; charms, thankfully, were one of Edgar's specialties. It helped him sleep easier. It helped him to feel just that little bit safer, and helped him not to have a panic attack every time he let the dog out in the morning, or while Calypso and the kids were playing in the garden. Still, no matter how much confidence he had in his abilities in charm-casting, dueling and anything else pertaining to maintaining the safety of his wife and children, this morning's owl had shaken him considerably.
There were so many possibilities here. It could be someone on the inside who was on their side. It could be a Death Eater teasing them, or luring them into a trap. It could be some crazy person with a personal vendetta; Godric only knew. How did they know? What did they know? Was it true? Had Voldemort eased his way into the ministry? Was he slowly tearing it down from the inside? Could the headlines tomorrow read 'Voldemort Succeeds Wilde'? There were too many questions, and no answers.
He stood at the edge of his property. He had sent the patronus moments ago, having no idea who might be available to come, and was now waiting to allow each person through the wards.
Edgar couldn't decide on this one by himself, but he really was certain that they'd have to arrange some sort of watch for Wilde and Bagnold. If either were killed, that would be the end of it. They couldn't allow the ministry to fall, or there would be complete chaos. It would be a tangled mess, more-so than now, when the 'good guys' still had some semblance of control, some sense of a stable government.
Things had been getting out of hand for some time. There were more deaths. The Order seemed outnumbered. Crouch had authorized use of the unforgiveables. What was it coming to, when the MLE was sinking down to the same level as the Death Eaters?
