Lexi hadn't the office. She hated sitting behind a desk and she definitely hated paperwork. The fact that it was her birthday made little difference with her work load. Sure, she would have loved to stay at home that day or gone on a quick outing somewhere warm, but luck was not on her side. They had a week long excursion to Egypt coming up and she'd promised Jer that she'd have all the permits filed and approved long before it was time for them to leave. The problem? There was a lot of bloody permits. One had to go to the DIMC, another had to go to the Trading Standards Body, another was filed through Gringott's itself for a final confirmation .. and that was just on the British side of things. There were just as many to be sent to the Egyptian Ministry. Needless to say, she saw herself being rather busy for the next few days.
There was little comfort to be found in working for Goblins. They were tireless little bastards with attitudes almost as big as Lexi's .. which, for being a quarter of her size was rather impressive. The made the appearance of offering their Wizarding employees and clientele certain niceties. Like fresh coffee. This might have worked if the coffee didn't burn the taste buds from your mouth, like acid spilled on a counter top. Lexi, in her travels, had experience some pretty strong and terrible coffees, but the Gringotts offering was by far the worst. Having worked there for years at this point, she'd grown accustomed to it. At this point, she didn't even add anything to it. She just drank it black. Even if she'd attempted cream and sugar, she wouldn't have been able to taste it. Her taste buds had been ruined ages ago, but the caffeine within the drink still did it's trick.
Unbeknownst to her, however, the continuously brewing coffee had something a little more in it than caffeine, the taste of the potion hidden underneath the already strong taste of the drink. She would not be the only one submitting herself to the grips of the Amesoeur potion. As the potion circulated, there was little to be suspect of. Everything seemed to going as it should, until the murmurs started to move down and through the building. Soul mates bonds activated on the top floor? At first, this didn't catch Lexi's interest. She really didn't care, plain and simple. If they'd taken the potion that was their own problem, not hers. It wasn't until more rumours reached her level that she started to pay attention. Slipped the potion in the building. Now that was something she could pay attention to.
Leaving her desk, she started to make her way up to the main floor, listening to the conversations taking place along the way. The more she heard, the more her stomach turned. Finally reaching the top, she found the mess that had bloomed in her absence. A few Aurors, Irate Goblins, and gawking employees. Some had slipped a fair quantity of the Amesoeur Potion into the coffee supply. All those who had consumed the drink would now be affected.
And that's all it took for the rug to be pulled from under Lexi's feet. She was going to murder someone, she was sure of it.
