Her comment only made the need to bring up the uncomfortable discussion that much more immediate. He loved his daughter just as she was, and he loved having her in the house where he could protect her, but Dominic knew in his heart that Hannah wasn't really happy with this half life. She needed to meet other people, to grow and learn and be her own woman. She needed the life she had before Lestrange got ahold of her.
He sighed, seeing no alternative but to set her straight, no matter how painful it was for the both of them. "You could set the cookies out on the doorstep, but how could you see them get that smile on their faces when they taste these cookies?" It was a gentle question, on that could be written off as a joke if he thougth she wasn't ready for such a discussion, but one he hoped he could follow through with. Hannah needed him to be strong and start the uncomfortable talk.
