Dominic was worried to say the least. While he could easily attribute Hestia’s snappishness to being ill, something still had him ill at ease. Not the best cook in the world of his own admission, Dominic had actually ventured to a Muggle grocery store to pick up a can of chicken and noodle soup, and had loaded that shopping sack full of other things to comfort Hestia such as a carefully wrapped plate full of Hannah’s homemade sweets and some treats he had impulsively picked up for Max.

Satisfied that he had everything that he needed, he used his floo to get to her flat. Max, the little devil, was taking advantage of his mistress’s poor health to shred pillows in the living room. “Bad dog.” Dominic scolded, picking the pillow up and sitting it on a table next to his sack of goodies. He tossed the puppy several treats, trusting that that would make him behave for a bit, and then proceeded down the hallway.

“Hestia?” He called, walking toward her room slowly. Hestia, it’s me, I’m here…” He paused outside of her door frame, frowning as he looked at the bundle of covers. “I know you’re under there somewhere…” He took several steps closer, sitting on the edge of the bed and pulling the covers down. “Hello gorgeous.” He said, his tone teasing. “Aren’t you glad that I came over after all?”

Not knowing if Dominic had a key or other access to the flat, nor wanting to use that specifically warded journal Nicodemus had given her, Mory was currently in a high-strung state. She had meant the next few days to be set aside to familiarizing herself with Hestia's flat as well as to read through her journal for helpful information. Hestia herself hadn't been exactly forthcoming, but Mory hadn't pressed her more than was expected when another was within hearing distance.

The dog had been an unexpected trial as, somehow, it had seen through the Polyjuice. Damned animal intuition. She had left it shredding a pillow to keep the creature out of her hair, only later learning his name was Max. Knowing his name hadn't helped.

The place was strange, this body was strange and every frustrating minute that passed made Mory even more certain that giving in to Rodolphus and Bellatrix's demands would soon be in the past, rather than her future. She wouldn't continue at this forever, she'd find a way to ruin their plan without being caught or something else as effective.

The moment she heard the Floo she took off down the short corridor and threw herself into the bed.

"Go away!" she yelled from beneath the blankets, then presented him with a hostile look when he uncovered her. She supposed that smile he was directing at her was meant to persuade Hestia to his way of thinking, but even if that assumption was right, she needed him out of here while she was still floundering like this. Angry moods swing to the rescue, hopefully.

"You're incapable of listening to me, aren't you?" she demanded angrily, pulling on the blankets.

"I am." Dominic laughed, kicking off his shoes to the side of the bed and looked down at her. She looked fine, other than being clearly irritated at him, but perhaps the illness had not taken hold yet. He leaned in, pressing his lips first to her forehead, and, finding it cool, then to her lips. She was flushed, but that was likely in anger at him...not the most promising sign but better than illness.

This. Was. Not. On. Planting her hands on his chest, Mory pushed him away and then retreated under the covers. Merlin be damned, she was not going to be kissing Dominic Abbott, even if these weren't technically her own lips right now. Hestia Jones couldn't possibly want this much affection while pregnant, she was barely into her second trimester. Mory had been sick as a dog and, according to Hestia, so had she. Men!

"You're trying to get sick!" she accused from under the blankets, huffing angrily and searching for more things to say. "If you want time off work, go get your own excuse!"

"My own excuse?" Dominic frowned and then his frown turned to a wide grin. EXCUSE. This was some ploy for her to get some time away from those damned trainees of hers, he should have guessed that on his own. He laughed heartily, pulling the blankets down again.

"I see through you, Jones, you selfish minx." He tossed the covers back, gazing down at her in all of her furious glory. "But wouldn't calling in 'sick' be so much more fun if we got to enjoy it together? I won't rat you out with Moody, if that's what you're worried about." He stretched out on the bed next to her, still laughing.

"You nearly had me going, I brought you soup and sweets and even got Max a few things, and here you were the entire time, perfectly fine. Are you certain you weren't in Slytherin?"

Oh fuck This was great, just great. Mory hadn't thought to make herself seem sick, she had been too concerned with knowing where things were in the flat so she didn't make him suspicious. Now he didn't even believe her. What the hell was she to do now?

"I am sick, I am! The Healer said so," she insisted stubbornly, a last ditch effort to make him by the story. If he didn't believe her, she'd have to play along with his assumption. "And you should be at work, it's the middle of the day and people are probably very interested in where you are and what you're doing lately!"

She grabbed for the blankets again and pointed to the door. "You can't stay here, you're the Minister. You have things to do. People will talk. I'm pregnant, it's expected for pregnant women to be ill and have to stay in bed."

Dominic made a comically large pout come to his face. "It is expected for pregnant women to be ill, but you're NOT ill." He reached his hand out, resting it flatly on her stomach over her clothing. "Is this some sort of game?" He waggled his eyebrows at her. "Are you trying to trick me into going so that you can spend all night devising devious things to inflict on those trainees of yours?"

His thumb moved in slow circles over her stomach. "Or are you just feeling a bit tired because of the baby?" His face took on a more gentle look. "Did you feel guilty about asking for a day off because you were tired? Because I assure you, someone other than you can shout at those boys just as well as you can, and I won't think any less of you if you are tired. We knew that you might get tired, that you might have to take a few days off, no one is faulting you for that."

Repressing a shudder at the idea he might think this some sort of sex game, Mory resigned herself to the lie he had given her and hoped, because he had thought of it, he would believe it.

"Oh, all right," she growled, expression surly. "I'm not sick, I just didn't want to go into work and I needed an excuse, one they'd believe and one you'd believe." She sighed and then reached out, touching his cheek gently with what she hoped was intimate affection before drawing her hand away, unable to shake the feeling that even that harmless gesture was somehow cheating on her husband. She was in bed with another man, after all, even if it was completely platonic.

"I wanted you to think it was contagious so you weren't tempted to leave work to be here," she said quietly, face turned slightly away form him, "because people will talk and I don't want them talking about you."

There, that sounded believable, didn't it?

It sounded believable, though it still tore at Dominic's heart. "Hestia..." he sighed, taking her hand and pressing it to his lips. "You don't need to hide things from me. "I'm a grown man and I know when it's necessary for me to go to work and when I can afford to take an early day, and I can afford to take an early day today. What I CAN'T afford is worrying about you 'for a couple of days' because you've shut yourself away from me."

He squeezed her hand again, sitting it back down again. "Besides, we need to talk anyhow. Have you heard anything from Kingsley recently?" Even in the privacy of his home or hers sometimes he was a bit hesitant about discussing things openly that had to do with his information leaking. His very life was at stake, as well as Hestia's, as well as Hannah's.

"You don't when it comes to me, where I'm concerned you forget to anything you should, only things you want," Mory said, knowing it was the truth concerning his relationship with Hestia, if nothing else. "I didn't want to face people talking about us and I knew you skipping work would only make it worse, only make it harder to go back when I made myself."

She turned away then, uncomfortable in the face of how clearly he cared for Hestia. She had nothing against Dominic Abbott or Hestia Jones and in other circumstances, when she didn't have secrets to hide and if they world was different, they might have made nice friends for her and Gideon. If only he'd go away so she could figure out a way out of this.

"And no, I haven't heard from him, I just journaled him this morning to tell him I wouldn't be in, he hasn't had time to reply, I'd imagine," she said, more than a bit puzzled. Hestia hadn't mentioned anything important to do with Kingsley, had actually been difficult to deal with as far as anything Auror or Order related.

Dominic's face sobered a bit. "Can you blame me for not wanting to do what I should?" He rested a hand on her back, confused as to why she had turned away. "Thinking of you here alone and sick made me feel like the worst sort of man. I know how important it is that I make this job work, Hestia. I know what depends on it, but I think that I know the limits as well. I can figure out when I should stop pushing my limits and when I have a bit of leeway, and now I have a bit of leeway."

He leaned in, kissing her shoulder. He was sorry that the article had come out like that, sorry that people would be talking about her. "Most of the aurors and trainees likely already knew when you went on light duty though, didn't they? Going back to work shouldn't be so bad as all of that. They all care for you like family, I think they'll likely come to your defense before they talk about you like that."

He paused, giving his words time to sink in before continuing. "And I meant about the other thing, about what I had asked you to tell him the other day. You said that you would talk to him about it and tell me what his plans were."

If anything, his words were making Mory feel sickly guilty, realizing he meant his success as the Minister was necessary to keeping his girlfriend safe, in keeping their baby safe, and right now as hard as he could work, those two things were entirely out of his hands. She would not be part of Bellatrix and Rodolphus harming pregnant women and unborn children, or children at all, which was why the massacre had affected her so strongly, knowing she might have been sent to one of the areas children had been murdered that night instead of where she had been, where she had killed adults instead. Normally a strong women, that had left her curled in Gideon's lap after it was over, certain he thought her a monster even if he would never say so. And Dolohov, her only reason for this Mark, had continued to live by being off in another group where she could not even kill him.

Blaming it on the hair in the potion for carrying some strong strain of pregnancy hormone, or even just on the freedom to be weak, stuck in the body of a woman who was pregnant and emotional, she had to fight back a sob as she pulled away from his gentle touches and kisses, the action making it silent but not keeping it from shaking her body.

Dominic could see her body shaking as he pulled away, though he didn't know why. Imagining that it was likely just a result of the conversation with Kingsley going awry, he sat there, a chill running through him. What if Kingsley didn't think that the information was enough, or wanted to...

No, he couldn't go through that line of thought. He had to assume that Hestia's side would find some way to ensure that they were safe, regardless of whether the information that he gave them more or less specific than the last time. "Hestia..." he said softly, feeling quite inadequate at the moment. "It's alright if he didn't think it was specific enough of a threat to act on, you know as well as I do that sometimes the information that I give you is vague at best, I can just tell you what they tell me, nothing more. Don't cry, I'm sure next time it will be something more precise."

In shock, Mory rolled over, eyes widened so far the whites were visible the entire way around Hestia's vividly blue irises. She stared at Dominic as though he were some terror of the night, something horrifying and so shocking it numbed the body from running away.

He was the informant.

It was at once too much to absorb and yet what made the most sense. In his uncertain loyalty, clearly holding 'deviant' feelings and ideas, yet heading the Ministry and thus holding his only hand to avoid the death of his loved ones, no one would think he would be so insane as to inform on the Death Eaters. Yet he was dating and Auror and Order member and he was high enough up to know some information. He had to be a decent Occlumens, that was the only explanation, otherwise Nicodemus would have known and told Rodolphus. It was the only thing that had kept her true motives from the mental evasion, after all.

They were dead. They were all dead, as there was no way she could tell Rodolphus and Bellatrix of all of this and watch them kill everyone connected, from Hestia to Dominic to his daughter, yet if she failed to continue at this successfully, they would go after Risa. Alone, she was not enough to stop Rodolphus and Bellatrix and their army of renegades for the inevitable.

Now her tears were for real, ones of panicked fear in knowing she had no time in which to find a way out of this without the loss of lives, innocent ones at that. To run now with Risa and Gideon would mean dooming others and she didn't know that she could live with that on her conscience.

This was bad, this was very bad. Either Hestia was in the throes of a MASSIVE mood swing, or Kingsley had said something to put her in this state. Could that be it? Could it be that her meeting with Kingsley had gone so badly that she was hiding from him for fear of having to tell him how badly it had gone before she was ready? Damn it, this was an awful position to put her in, stuck between her Death Eater boyfriend and her job, her LIFE as an auror.

He pulled her close, pressing a kiss to her forehead and the one to each of her tear stained cheeks.

"Hestia, love, please don't cry. You can tell me if something happened with him." He said quietly. "We have no secrets, you know that as well as I do. You don't have to take a day off from work and me to think about it, you should just tell me. I love you and whatever Kingsley said or did...it doesn't effect that."

Had Dominic not done that, gathered her up, Mory would have overcome her shock, then her horror, to get to the place where she could semi-rationally think and plan. Perhaps it was the spells too, perhaps it was the state of this body or perhaps it was her sense of complete aloneness – and what had she been thinking, not telling Gideon? Her reasoning now, that he would rashly interfere, seemed less certain now than it had a few hours earlier – but it was enough to push her toward open crying instead of allowing her to gather herself.

Though she did not cling to Dominic, not even now, she also did not pull away from him. It was comfort given that she would not push away, not when vivid images of Risa suffering for this mess filled her head. That was something no mother could face with a dry eye and a lack of fear.

"Salazar, this is so impossible," she gasped, shaking her head, "they'll kill my baby, I know they will."

"Shhhh..." Dominic was shocked to say the least by her words, because Hestia was normally so strong. "We won't let them hurt our baby. We won't let them hurt either of our children. That's why we're doing this, remember?" On his darkest days Dominic thought that his leaking information to the aurors was an added risk with no reward, but today because Hestia was less certain he was more so. It was an odd balance they had of supporting one another, but it seemed to work.

"One day we won't have to worry about our children anymore." He rested his hand firmly on her stomach. "At least, not about them being taken from us like that."

There was nothing Mory could say to that in the guise of Hestia. She certainly couldn't take any more of his lovingly given comfort because it was meant for his lover, not an imposter. Her statement about Risa had been her own, her fears about her child were hers – and Gideon's, once he knew – but she could see now that those fears were ones both Dominic Abbott and Hestia Jones held as well, for their own baby, for Dominic's daughter. Given how abysmally she had failed thus far – even if he still thought her Hestia now, she knew that would not last long – and how disadvantaged she would be in continuing this ruse, for she would not risk asking Hestia about this informant business, there was only one plan she could see unfolding before her, one that frighteningly hinged on his cooperation.

She had to tell Dominic Abbott the truth.

"Can I have your wand for a minute?" she asked him unexpectedly. Though upset, she still wasn't stupid and a duel was the last thing anyone needed right now.

Frowning slightly in confusion, Dominic none the less held out his wand without hesitation. This was Hestia and he trusted her beyond doubt. Later he might bemoan the thought that he hadn't immediately been able to tell the difference, that he had been so foolish, but for now there was just Hestia and she was upset, so he obeyed.

Grateful she still had his trust for those few moment longer, Mory took his wand and held it firmly as she slid away to put space between them, knowing in a moment he would wand far from her and also not wanting his wand to be without reach in a physical struggle. She still wasn't used to this body.

"Dominic," she began carefully. "I'm not who you think I am. I'm not Hestia." then before than dropped bomb could lay without explanation, she continued on. "I'm Morgandy Yaxley. Bellatrix and Rodolphus ordered me this morning to start the process of impersonating her. Hestia is locked away in one of the hideouts – safe, unharmed and more comfortable than any other prisoner of theirs likely ever has been, but only for as long as they think they have the situation fully in their control."

Dominic might have laughed off her admission if it wasn't so honest sounding, if his own heart didn't tell him that it was true. In a moment he was on his feet, rushing to her and holding his hands on her arms to keep her STILL. He didn't hurt her, didn't even hold her tightly enough to hurt, because he didn't hurt women or children unless he HAD to as part of his Death Eater activities, and even then he regretted and dwelled on those actions for long afterward. No, he didn't directly hurt her, because every part of him HURT. It was as though someone had killed half of him on the spot. Gods damn it, he had lost one wife to them and now he was to lose Hestia and the baby too! He couldn't go ON if this happened again.

"Tell me." He growled out. "Tell me where she is. Tell me what they're trying to gain by keeping her there and how the hell I'll go about getting her back in one piece." The only thing keeping him level headed and not off to send Hannah away again so that he could go on some suicide mission was that, for the moment, Hestia was alive adn well.

Though she had expected some type of retaliation and even prepared for it, Mory was surprised when that retaliation when no further than him grabbing her. Not that she thought he was one to abuse women, but even those with the highest principles were still victim to impulse.

"I won't tell you where until we have a plan," she said softly, knowing it would infuriate him. "If you go there now, they will know I failed, might even guess I told you, and they'll kill my daughter. I can't risk her life, Dominic, and I know even if you hate me for being part of this, you have to know what it feels like to fear for your child's life."

She did not try to break from his grip, just continued to meet his gaze head on. "I'm willing to help you, because I never wanted to do this, I knew it would fail and now, now that I know you're the informant, I refuse to have your murder, the murder of Hestia and your baby and Hannah, on my conscience."

She paused, then continued in an attempt to answer his other demand. "They're looking for a way to control you. I've been watching Hestia for some time now because they wanted to know her routine and I considered they might even try to replace her, but I never dreamed they'd choose me. I'm their only other high-ranking Ministry Death Eater, it's the most insane move ever to have me risk my cover. But they did and I've been dropped into a nightmare as far as I'm concerned, something that would have been a nightmare for you and a death knell for all you love had they chosen anyone else."

Carefully yet firmly Dominic walked her back to the bed where he released her. He was between her and the door, and far larger, so he wasn't concerned with her fleeing, but he couldn't touch her just now, both because it felt wrong to touch someone other than Hestia, and because he feared that touching her would lead to his temper snapping and he didn't WANT to hurt her.

He wanted to trust her. He wanted to believe that they could sit down and think of some plan and make sure that Hestia was fine, but he didn't know if he could or SHOULD trust this woman. She had developed a reputation of her own as a fearsome Death Eater, and for all he knew this was some ploy to earn her more respect with the Lestranges. Hell, she knew that he was the informant by his own admission, she might be wearing something even now that allowed them to know. His Hestia could already be d...

No. He couldn't think about that. This was do or die time, so to speak, and he had little choice about the matter. He would question her as best as he could, get Hannah somewhere other than here (though likely on false presences, because he couldn't see her fall to pieces now)and do whatever it took to get Hestia home. Perhaps she could be trusted after all, he thought, remembering that she had a daughter of her own. He understood the bond between parents and children, and her terror had seemed genuine...

"Tell me why you're willing to help me, and swear to me that you are doing this of your own accord, not as some ploy of theirs. Swear to me on the life of your daughter that you will do everything necessary to get us all alive out of this."

For a long time, Mory simply stared at him, the decision she had to make difficult, but ultimately necessary. She was placing her life and others in his hands, but she all ready held his and his loved ones and without the truth, she had no hope of making him follow her wishes. She had to have his trust, it at least a lack of distrust, in order to keep Risa safe.

"This Mark on my arm?" she finally began, gesturing to where the mark was no visible. "It's here for one reason, one rash, insane and ultimately unfulfilled reason. It wasn't to kill Muggles or anyone with Muggle blood, it wasn't to follow Voldemort, it wasn't to assert my superiority because of my own blood, it was to get into the organization where I could get close to Antonin Dolohov," and as she spoke the name, Hestia's features twisted into a look of pure hatred, nursed by years of pain, something that face had never before shown, "and murder him without being found out, to kill him for what he did to my husband," her voice broke briefly but she continued, "and brother-in-law, for the fatherless life he forced my daughter to lead, for the pain and suffering her brought to the Prewett family. For depriving me of a life with my husband, Gideon Prewett."

Not knowing if it was something he had known or not, nor particularly caring as it wasn't a secret from all, just from general knowledge, she pressed on. "When the first war ended, I knew it had been a mistake to take the Mark, but by then it was too late anyhow, and it didn't matter. Voldemort was gone, Dolohov was in jail where I could never reach him and I had to go on for my daughter's sake. Then Voldemort came back and the only thing that saved me from the bulk of activity was what saved you, a place in the Ministry. That, combined with the image I cultivated for myself as protection, as a lure for Dolohov's interest, kept me from the grunt work, but I couldn't escape. I had a daughter, a daughter he knew was the child of a "blood traitor" and Order member and I couldn't risk her." She had Gideon to protect as well, but that secret would remain hers. "We lived through the war and then Voldemort was gone, this time for good. I thought it was over and we would never have to worry again."

She rubbed at her face, where those few tears had dried. "I was so bloody wrong."

Breathing in deeply, she looked up at him. "So there, Dominic Abbott. I learned your closely guarded secret and now you know mine. We both have the power to keep each other's families alive, or see the other and those they love die horrible deaths. I don't need to swear on my daughter's life, nor will I because her life is more precious than any vow I could make. If this were a ploy of theirs, would I admit something they could see torn out of my mind in confirmation? I'll swear it on my own life, on whatever you want, but not Risa's."

There was no plea for him to believe her, no on-knees begging for him to understand, just the presentation of herself for him to take or leave.

And that, the fact that she would not swear on her daughter's life more than even her story, was what convinced him to trust her. There was little alternative but someone who valued her child above all else, even her own life, someone who had lost someone very dear to the cause that she followed, was someone that he could trust.

"Alright." he said, sinking into a chair and rubbing his face, feeling as though the weight of the world was on his shoulders. He had to get Hannah out of here, but he couldn't tell her why, he had to get Hestia home, though he didn't know how, he had to protect their baby, though he wasn't sure if that was even possible. He didn't even realize that he had left the door wide open should she choose to escape, but but he had made the conscious choice to trust her so a door was the least of their worries. After all, she did have a point. Had they chosen any other Death Eater to fulfill the task he would have been dead by now.

"How are we going to do this?" he asked, looking up at her with a tired gaze. "How are we going to get everyone out of this alive? Do they intend to kill her once this is over or put her back so seamlessly that I do not notice. How could they NOT think that I would notice?"

"I think the fact they freely admitted everything," Mory said softly, "that she saw numerous Death Eaters and even the hideout, means they have no intention of putting her back. They know she would tell you and if they Obliviated her, you'd want to know what was wrong with her. They threatened her with the life of your baby to get her cooperation, and I have no doubt they'd do what they said, but they are also treating her better than I've seen most Death Eaters treated. They need her for now and I suspect it's because they need your baby."

The assumption of what to come was something she had spent a little time considering, needing to know if she had a window of time to work in. "If I, as Hestia, were to lose the baby, you'd be of no use to them for a time and they know it. Maybe they plan to have me go off, give 'birth' when Hestia is in labor, then be found with your baby. Maybe they have another plan entirely. The point is, we have time to do this right. Not a lot, if we want her unharmed, as she's not exactly being totally forthcoming with all she knows," she said, though obviously he realized that, "but time."

Pacing now, she glanced at him occasionally, but mostly watched the floor, gathering her thoughts. She had given in to fears and tears, now she had to get it together. "We need to find a way to get her out that doesn't incriminate us in any way. A hint that we're involved, that we're behind anything and we're dead, you know it."

She crossed the room and extracted a small journal from under a stack of books. "We have journals," she explained, holding it up, "hexed to each other, that I can use to communicate with her. She doesn't have a wand, so she can't write to anyone else, nor can she write public entries. I could give you access to mine so you could at least read what she writes, but I have no way of knowing if it's monitored. If only there was a way for the two of you to communicate that way." She looked at him hopefully. "Do you have any kind of secret code? Any words I could use that she'd know you gave me and understand you were aware of what's going on? We can't risk any hint of something going on in the journals but I need her to believe I'm on her side and she won't believe me after this morning, not without your help."

It was something that he would have known had he allowed himself to think about that for a moment, but hearing her say so plainly, and with explanations, that they had not intended to put Hestia back, was just another painful truth. They were going to let her have her baby and then KILL her. Gods knew what they were going to do after that, if Morgandy was expected to give up her life to play Hestia the second, or if they would let him be happily unaware until they had let someone else rise in the ranks of the ministry, but whatever they had planned, it was full of holes. They just had to figure out how to exploit them.

Dominic considered for a long moment if she was trustworthy enough to have THIS thrust in her lap, but deciding that she already knew enough to get him killed otherwise, he knew he had little alternative. "I've lost one wife." He said plainly, knowing that she would certainly remember the way that Teaghan had been found in his home. "I want to marry Hestia but we were holding off because I didn't want to bring more danger on her." He snorted at the irony of the entire mess. "I cannot lose her, Morgandy. You lost one husband, so you understand, what it is to lose once, but losing AGAIN so soon...it's enough to end anyone."

"We..." he cleared his throat, remembering how he and Hestia often flirted in the strike outs. He had to switch topics, to not think about the idea that we might lose her. "We both can read strikeouts." He eyed the journal hungrily, wanting to grab it from her, to write so many things to Hestia, but he knew that snatching it from her and then ripping the thing to bits wouldn't accomplish anything. "I need to talk to her, even if you're writing it, I need to see in her own words that she's alright."

He was right, Mory did know what it was to lose a husband, but then she didn't. She had saved Gideon as he lay a breath from death and so had never known what it was to lose him completely. She sympathized with Dominic but she refused to learn what it was like. The answer to his request was simple.

"You can write it for all I care, as long as no one but her knows what it says, knows there's anything there but an inkblotch," she said, searching for a quill and ink even as she spoke. The task gave her time to ponder his revelation, that he intended to marry Hestia. As long as Bellatrix and Rodolphus remained free, or even alive, Dominic would never have that without risk. Doing so might protect her better, but it would also risk her. At this point, the Lestranges had proven it mattered not what Dominic did with Hestia, she wasn't safe.

However, his informant activities did matter, activities that would soon be hampered by Bellatrix and Rodolphus' suspicions when Hestia escaped, coupled with the Aurors and Order that had met some of the massacre attacks and other activities over the months. It was the only way to bring them down, she was quickly seeing.

And she wanted in on it.

"You're going to have to consider what you'll do after this is over," she observed, finally finding a quill and continuing too look for ink. Salazar, this woman was messy. "With Hestia back, you'll 'know' that they took her. They'll know you know. They'll expect that you want to retaliate, which means you can't be the informant anymore, not with every bit of information at least. Nor will they tell you as much as they once did."

She turned, a bottle of ink in hand. "But me? Me they'll still tell nearly everything to, because I'm a part of their precious new Inner Circle. They think I'm as bloodthirsty as them and care only about my job and daughter. They've got in partially right. When this is over and Hestia is back, let me help, let me do this to secure my daughter's future, otherwise our lives will still be ruined another day, another time where we can't control it. I won't lie to you, I'm doing it for Risa. I like you and Hestia, but Risa is the motivation."

Greedily Dominic reached for the quill and pen, then the journal, letting her words sink in for a moment as his quill was poised over the page, wanting to say EVERYTHING at once and unsure of what to say first.

"I'll have to ask Hestia." he said honestly. "Though you do have a point and I would be for it, Hestia risks herself for this as well and she has a right to weigh in on this when everything is over. You do have my word, however, that no matter what happens with this, that I will do my best to keep your daughter free of harm as I would want someone to keep my daughter safe."

That being said, he found the words and hastily started writing.

Hestia...it's Dominic. I know about Yaxley, and she's going to help me find a way to get you out of there. We ALL stand to lose a great deal if this isn't done properly, so it may take some time, but I will come for you and our baby.

Did they hurt you? Are you and the baby doing as well as can be expected? I love you, and I miss you, and I will have you here as soon as I can.

Satisfied with his answer for now, Mory took the journal and blow the huge ink splotch, she penned the following:

I know the Ministry pays you enough to afford decent quills and ink, what's with the dismal quality of every quill in your flat?

Shortly thereafter, a splash of ink and a message to Mory appeared:

What? Dominic, are you insane? SHE IS A DEATH EATER AND WORKING FOR THEM! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

I'm not hurt and the baby is fine. I'll kill them all with my bare hands before I'll allow them to harm our baby. Where am I? MAKE HER TELL YOU RIGHT NOW.

Like the quills in this bloody place are any better? What do you want anyhow?

Mory handed him the journal. "Is there a message back?" she asked, leaning in. "And what did you say to her? I'm going to need to know, or you'll have to write where I can see it."

Dominic groaned softly, wondering if he was truly insane for even considering this. He was annoyed further at the time that it took to relay his message to Morgandy, but he knew that it was necessary. As swiftly as he could he read his message to Morgandy and then the one Hestia had replied with. That said, he took the quill again, this time reading his words as he wrote them so that he could save time.

I'm a Death Eater too, Hestia. Some of us have different motivations, and it appears that Morgandy's chief motivation is her daughter. In any case, I have little alternative. It appears that her daughter's life hinges on this the same way that Hannah's life, and the baby's do. I'm going to make sure that everyone gets out of this alive and well, and when we do I'm never letting you out of my sight again.

He paused, asking Morgandy for her location and thankfully hearing the answer this time.

You're in their Cornwall hideout: Mortain House. I think it's the only one they have in that area.

Answers, of course. That's what your purpose is now.

The response appeared on the page with a ferocity that surprised Morgandy.

THERE IS A GOD. This place I'm at is under surveillance for a raid, some anonymous tip it was a DE hell hole, Kingsley was supposed to meet with you today about the sign off to raid it. GO TELL HIM I'M HERE AND I WANT OUT NOW. RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

Fuck you.

"What did she write," she asked, but he was ahead of her, translating even as she asked. The message made her heart beat faster and she waved a hand.

"Tell her we can't, tell her that - wait, I can do this, can't I?" she said even as she wrote and then struck out the following before writing in the fake message.

You can see this, can't you? We can't tell Kingsley, they can't go in knowing they're going after you or my cover will be blown. I won't have it.

Now now, cooperate with me, Mudblood. You want to keep the Lestranges happy.

Hestia's response was near instantaneous.

FNE. THEN ORDER THAT KINGSLEY SEND ERNIE AND MILES ON THE RAID AND MAKE IT HAPPEN NOW. Tell Ernie I'm here and let the rest be really surprised. Our asses are all covered and I'M BACK HOME. How long will this take?

Fuck them too.

Just a few days, my love. We can't risk moving any more swiftly for fear that the Lestranges will know that it was Morgandy, and I refuse to move any more slowly. When this is over... he paused. Morgandy helping them with the information wasn't something that they should discuss here, secure or not. I am going to make sure that no one ever hurts you again.

He turned to Morgandy, waiting on Hestia's response as he spoke. "Ernie Macmillan is my daughter's boyfriend, and one of Hestia's favorite Auror trainees. He's known of my mark for some time and has been trustworthy in keeping it secret despite us having several arguements in the past." he reconsidered his words swiftly. "Arguments are typical with fathers and their daughter's boyfriends, but he's saved Hestia and Hannah's lives in the past and I would trust them with either of their lives again. He can be trusted." There, that was the truth, and none of it was a lie.

As expected, Mory continued to legitimize the ink splotches with appropriately worded responses.

I'm sure they are fucking, right in the same house with them. If you weren't such a dirty piece of filth, you might still have your fuck toy too.

She listened soberly to Dominic, feeling her face changing as he spoke. She had forgotten her next does of it was due, but she did not go for the bottle yet, as there wasn't much point and she knew he'd be a bit happier if she didn't look like Hestia.

"If you both trust him, even if he's still barely more than a child, then I'll put my trust in the both of you," she agreed quietly and then listened as he again read off the message.

JESUS FUCKING CHRIST AND FUCKING MERLIN TOO, HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO STAY HERE FOR A FEW DAYS?

Fucking Kingsley, he'll probably make it at least two day because he won't know I'm here. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO UNTIL THEN?

You're a fucking whore, Yaxley. Go the fuck away.

This doesn't sound like cooperation, Mudblood. You know the reason you want to behave, don't you?

Feed me false information about yourself so it looks legitimate. Dominic can help me be 'believable' where necessary until then.
Mory wrote after the message and then handed Dominic the quill so he could write as well. Or intended to hand it to him, but dropped it instead when she heard the Crup puppy start barking and a youthful female voice call out for "Dad and Hestia".

"Fuck," she swore, diving for the bottle of Polyjuice she had ignored a few moments ago. "Tell her "I'm" sick!"

Hastily Dominic threw the covers over her, the bottle of Polyjuice, and the journal, trusting that she would take the dose and that it would sink in swiftly. He wanted to write to Hestia more, he wanted to reassure her, but there was no time for that now.

"Just lay down, love." He called back into the bedroom, closing the door. "I'm sorry you two," he said apologetically, "But Hestia is ill, contagious, and in a surly mood to boot. She doesn't want visitors just now." He stood firmly between them and the door, eyeing them warily. "Why don't you both go back to the house, and I'll see you when I get home? I don't want either of you coming down with something."

Out in the living room, Hannah frowned unhappily. Hestia sick was worrisome, doubly so given what was going on with Rodolphus. "Dad, we need to talk to you and Hestia," she said seriously, then held out her journal. "There was another journal entry of Rodolphus Lestrange that I could see. I... I wasn't sure if it was real or just meant to toy with me, so I... well, we, but it was my idea, went to see Rabastan Lestrange. He thinks it was just to toy with me, he said Mr Lestrange doesn't have anyone to replace you, but you need to be on your guard. He said we all do.

She moved closer to him, looking almost adorably apologetic. "I'm sorry, Dad, but I had to know the truth before I told you. I know I should have told you first, but I'm tired of just giving you more problems without giving you something useful with them"

Though half tempted to lecture Hannah about not telling him things, he knew that had she told him about this earlier he might have been so preoccupied that he didn't get a chance to discover Mory in Hestia's place. Sighing heavily, he glanced at the words Lestrange had written.

"While I don't approve of you meeting the men in the centre without telling me, I am thankful that you knew to bring someone with you, and I'm proud of you for trying to protect me." Dominic rubbed his temples. Perhaps all this talk of being sick was actually making him sick. His own mother had always said be careful what you wish for...

"I think that I'm going to be here for a while, talking with Hestia about the best way to deal with this. I think it would be best if you kept Ernie with you at the house, and had Jacobs stay a bit closer. I'm going to stay here with Hestia until she's well and noncontagious. "

Gods but he wanted Hestia back. He was so tired of pretending and he just wanted to have his Hestia home so that he could hold her and not have to lie to his daughter anymore.

As he rubbed his head, Hannah drew closer and wrapped her arms around him, hugging him tightly. It hurt her to see how much this was affecting him, that she had to be the one to tell him, but she knew above all else he needed to know about it, as much as she wanted to protect him right now. It made understanding his motives a bit easier, that was certain.

"Dad," she said, looking up at him. "If Hestia's contagious, we all are. Ernie works with her, she was just at the house last night with us. We should stay." She added, slightly softer, as if uncertain of his reaction. "I want to be involved with this. We're all a part of it now, we have been for a long time."

Dominic didn't want to make her angry, but on the other hand, to make her think that he still saw her as a child even after she had risked a good deal to meet Rabastan privately. On the other hand, he didn't want to make Morgandy feel overwhelmed. What to do, what to do...

"Let me ask Hestia." he said quietly, his throat clenching as he said the name though he coughed uncomfortably to hide it. "She might be too tired for visitors or she might be ready and eager to see you and Ernie. I'll be right back." He took a step forward, kissing Hannah's cheek, before retreating further to go into the bedroom, where he shut the door.

"Can you pretend to be Hestia for five minutes? Hannah's wanting to see her and it would be...unnatural for me to keep her away."

"Okay," Hannah said, moving back to hug Ernie as Dominic walked away.

Inside the bedroom, Mory gave him a horrified look. She had been listening to the conversation, but ti didn't change this was not what she had planned at all. However, at least she had a partner in this crime to help her get through this.

"Salazar, I don't know!" she muttered, then blew out a breath of frustration and drew her wand. "Here, help make me look ill and while you do, tell what what I need to know to talk to her for a few minutes."

A few minutes later, "Hestia" looked suitable pale, weak and slightly fevered with glassy eyes and Mory had enough bare facts to get her through a few minutes with Dominic's daughter and her boyfriend.

Dominic opened the door, satisfied that they had done all they could to prepare 'Hestia' for this. "You two can come in for a moment to say hello, but she's very tired and I think she just wants rest."

Ernie frowned in concern, resting his hand in the small of Hannah's back as he ushered her into the room. Merlin, but Hestia looked awful. She was pale and her eyes looked glassy and miserable. No wonder she had called into work today. "So I bested Stebbins and you weren't there to see it Jones. I think I may never forgive you for this." Truth be told he couldn't remember if he had bested Miles or if it had been the other way around, they usually took turns beating one another, normally coming out relatively even, but he wanted to make Hestia smile.

Mory studied them both between half-closed eyes and then offered a weak, lopsided smile for Ernie. "If you think that makes you my favorite now, you've got another thing coming, Macmillan," she joked, forced to be purposefully weak to fit the image she was attempting. The husky tone she used a moment later was far from forced, something that came from having the loudest motherly parts of her touched by Hannah Abbott's worried, slightly fearful gaze directed at her.

"Aww, baby girl, don't look so sad," she murmured, "I'll be fine with a few days rest. And we can talk later today or tomorrow, okay? Nothing's going to happen to your dad or me, or you and Ernie or anyone else you're worried about, in the time it takes me to rest up a bit."

Then she groaned and closed her eyes as her head dropped back on the pillows, an action that made Hannah look at Dominic with something akin to slight panic.

Ernie too looked horrified. Hestia was such a...well a force, for lack of a better word. She was so powerful and commanding and so see her so weak and powerless was startling as well as terrifying.

"She's fine." Dominic assured, moving to perch on the bed and stroke Morgandy's hair awkwardly in the way he knew that he would have done had had the woman in the bed been HIS Hestia. "At least, she will be. She assures me that she's already seen a healer and been treated. This is evidentially just a very nasty virus which has to pass before she'll be better. What she needs more than anything is rest, because she's weak from the illness as well as being tired from the baby." he lowered his voice as though expecting her to nod off any moment and looked at Morgandy in an effort to not look at Hannah. He was doing this for her, for his new child as well, but it was hard to lie to her.

Hannah looked uncertain but nodded to Dominic just the same. "We should go then," she said, leaning in to touch "Hestia's" foot gently. "I love you."

What came from Mory was a sleepy mumble, completely incoherent but accompanied by a very faint smile. It seemed to be enough to pacify Hannah, who whispered the same "I love you" to Dominic and then took Ernie's hand and led him out of the bedroom.

It was silent in the room a few minutes until Mory heard sounds near the front door indicating the two were leaving, and then it was not as she let out the breath she had been almost holding in a long, frustrated groan.

"If I had needed to do this indefinitely all on my own, I think I would have just run off with my family to the ends of the earth," she said without opening her eyes. "That was horrible, lying to them that way, especially they way they were looking at me. I feel like scum."

Dominic sank into a chair near the bed after they were gone, feeling the weight of this all pressing onto him once more. "Hestia is a VERY beloved woman. It's not just me, but Hannah, who she's been a surrogate Mum to since Teaghan died, and Ernie who she's taken under her wing despite any protests I might have had, and that's to say nothing of her family or the rest of the aurors, because I know she's a favorite there."

So much relied on him getting Hestia back, but there was so little he could do. All that he could do was wait for the raid to go down, and trust that Ernie would be able to get her home. Once more he was trusting his loved one's life in the boy's hands, and he didn't like it but there was little alternative.

I love you He wrote in the journal. I can't say it enough, I love you, Hestia, and you're coming home. These next few days will be hell on us all but they will pass as everything must and when you're home we'll all be more careful

His eyes felt irritated, as one might expect them to before tears fell, but he swallowed deeply, blinking them away. He wouldn't cry now, not when Hestia was relying on him to be strong, not in front of Yaxley. Damn it all the next few days would be the death of him.
