Basic Information and Rules
1. Aliases is a relaxed role playing experience. In Aliases, we want you to develop your character, not update a certain number in a few short weeks (we know you're busy). Although we do require activity, we don't want you to feel pressured to create a literary masterpiece when writing a journal entry for your character. Most wouldn't write like that, so we shouldn't expect your character to write like that. We do ask that you either compete a scene, write two journal entries, or finish a scene each month. We would love more from you, but we know that real life can be hectic.
2. Aliases is based around September 1998, just in time for the 7th years to head on to further their education!
3. Honestly, this game has very little plot, and we focus more on character development. We follow cannon up until the last chapter of Deathly Hallows (sans epilogue), BUT you're free to change what happens to your character after that point. So if you're not a Ginny/Harry fan, then they don't have to get together. If you would like to play Severus Snape, or Sirius Black, or Remus Lupin, you can! Perhaps they found a way to get Sirius out from behind the curtain, and Severus took a potion (as he always did) before going to meet the Dark Lord that saved him from Nagini's attack. Was Remus just unconscious? It's up to you.
4. To keep the game interesting, we will throw out various plot devices, to keep activity going. Formal Balls, Ministry Ceremonies, and other things like that to keep people talking to each other. If you come up with an idea for a plot point, please leave a comment here!
5. If your character has become a recluse, find one other character that can keep your character 'connected' with the rest of the world. So, if Severus Snape did live, and he shuts himself away, perhaps he could allow Draco Malfoy, his godson, to know he is alive.
As far as rules go, they're pretty simple.
1. Don't God Mod, and you should know this by heart.
2. Update either one scene, thread or two journal entries a month.
3. Character Names CAN NOT be used in the journals. Only Aliases, or 'journal names' may be used. (i.e. Ch 1: Hello, "Alias", I'm sorry to hear about your shitty day. Ch 2: Thank you, "Alias")
4. Be active, and have fun!
5. When asked if you read the rules, give me your favorite movie quote!
Community Info
aliases - Main community for threading, scenes, and owls
In the subject line put [Owl/Thread/Scene To/With "Character"] (choose one)
When scening, put in the text box:
Who: (characters)
What:
When:
Where:
Rating:
Then, create an LJ cut using a line from your scene. Either a descriptor or a dialogue piece.
aliases_info - the "mod" community. Honestly, I didn't feel like making a mod journal, so I'm just using my personal journal to mod. Feel free to add me.
aliases_ooc - the OOC journal. Feel free to join before you join the game to talk with others about your Alias, introduce yourself and your character, ask for storylines (other than the obvious)
Character Journals: These are for you to use however you want. If you wish to do a survey for your character, or do something other than a journal entry (even random ones are welcome!) just remember to put anything that may clog the Friends Page under a cut. strikes can be read through if your character knows the other's writing, or if they have very nice writing.bold strike can not be read through no matter what.
No real names should be used in the journal at all. Your character's friends, who know you have a journal, know your alias. Those who don't, make up their own aliases for characters they don't knowingly have journal contact with (Snape would make one for Harry Potter, even though Harry Potter has his own. But Harry Potter would use the one Hermione Granger chose, because he knows her journal name).
If you wish to show off your character's handwriting, and wish to make a journal "page" from time to time on photoshop, please do! Just remember to put large images like that under text-cuts.
If you feel there should be other things here to keep things running smoothly, please leave me a comment here, and if it's appropriate, I'll put it up here :)
