BloMo20: BL discussion.... [20 Nov 2008|11:56pm] lore [ mood | contemplative ] [ music | Ugly Betty ] First, Broccoli Books announced they're closing, which means the Boysenberry BL imprint goes with it. If you haven't picked up Pet on Duty or Delivery Cupid yet, they are about to become expensive used books. This discussion on Yaoi is of particular note, as it's three women discussing the whole idea of BL. One of them is quite knowledgable about the history of BL. It's two web pages, and then do click the link to the discussion forum. It gets even more fascinating and in-depth there. If you read some of that and want to come back here and discuss, feel free! [20 Nov 2008|06:12pm] lteagleeyes [ mood | indescribable ] Well, I got to work today and all of the parking spaces were used up 'cause there was a test or something being given there.. So, I had to park in the park behind the library, and jog to the building :p I was late, but I called and told my supervisor why, and he wasn't upset about it, so I'm glad that went well :) As for the interview, well, one of the women who interviewed me told me that they had selected someone else for the job, but that she thought I did very good on the interview, and it was a tough choice. She encouraged me to apply for other positions... I've heard that before, and it doesn't do too much really :/ I'm kinda glad she told me though. It's almost better to know now, than to have to wait til the first week of Dec., which was when I was told I would hear something back. So, that didn't work out... but I'll get over this, because God has something greater. I prayed about this job, and like the first one, I prayed if God wanted to get this job, I would, if not, well.... I feel He wants me to be a writer, so I'm gonna throw all of my effort into writing and trying to get things published... I've got a few ideas I've been throwing around, so I'm gonna do my hardest to work on them :) Thanks for the encouragement makeitbacon on the job -- it really meant a lot to me! *huggles* It's really nice and cold here in FL, and it's sooo nice! :D -- I've got the windows open and am loving the cold fresh air ^_^ Joy for Winter! :) Love and Hugs, ~* Kelly ^_^ post comment

[20 Nov 2008|11:32am] jyuukoi It was Bruce's birthday last night (21st) so we all went out to the bar.. just a bunch of co-workers.. and god damn it, it was so fucking crazy. Needless to say that we all partied like 21 year olds, though for me it was the tequila that did it for me.. I definitely puked my guts out but not there, not like Bruce did. It was fun, definitely but definitely not something that I'm going to be repeating any time soon, a drunk sick type deal is something I only do once every couple of years. post comment

[19 Nov 2008|07:32pm] yukichan [ mood| okay ] [ music| Tohoshinki - Doushite Kimi wo Suki ni Natte Shimattandarou ] Junko got laid off today from the Burlington Coat Factory warehouse here in San Berdoo. I feel so bad for her. Maybe I can make a treat for her or something. Something homemade. I can tell she's been crying a little bit. She was a hard worker but I think those days off she took did it for her. I just know this: until she gets a new job, she's going to be a little mopey around here. She's not the easiest person to get along with since she graduated high school, so I'm going to have to think of some things to cheer her up so we don't feel the brunt of her attitude. ;) So anyway, I'm watching the part 2 of the second episode of Love Contract. It's still pretty slow but I like it, with other dramas, I'm used the plot going a little fater. So I'm not complianing one bit. I think it's cute how cheesy the Taiwanese drama comedic scenes are. I was completely put into hysterics with Devil Beside You. I can tell this is going to be a good drama though. ;D I made dinner last night. My first time making something completely from scratch. Helpign me cut up some stuff. But I feel good about it and I feel more confident about cooking since my dad was impressed. He usually is very picky about dinner. SO I'm glad I made him and everyone happy. Back to this and that among other things. I have to baby-sit today too. I'm preping myself for that. Rip Out the Wings of a Butterfly for Your Soul [18 Nov 2008|06:53pm] yukichan [ mood| awake ] [ music| HIM - Wings of a Butterfly ] I am watching the 2nd part of the 1st episode of the Taiwanese drama Love Contract with Mike He and Ruby Lin. Yesturday, I thought it was going to be boring but I decided to stick with it until the end of the episode. I think my patience was as thin as notebook paper yesturday because now I'm starting to like it even though nothing is really going on ( YET! ). xD I need to finish up Devil Beside You But I'm too scared to. I mean, I know what happens since I know the manga ( Akuma de Sourou ) up, down and across already. But, CHA! I guess I'll just wait until I get it on DVD or something - on which I plan to do after I get Tree of Heaven That's my #1 drama!!! I'm SO looking forward to Thanksgiving! There's so much to do and even though we're not going to invite anyone until next year, this is going to be a lot of fun. Things I'm most thankful for... I'll write out a list later and post it here. [19 Nov 2008|01:14am] jyuukoi I have a Lyle muse.. and I knew it'd happen. So it makes it even, I and shukoi each have a Dylandy twin. Tieria and Feldt have gotten themselves some 'lylesluggers' in which to bash his brains in if he comes close to them, and well hijinks will probably ensue. Lyle is a bit darker and enjoys music such as the Kills and Butterfly Boucher. I look forward to seeing if he joins any groups or interacts. We'll see. ~*~ Also, "Meh" has been added to the dictionary. HURRAH! Second note, it's not thursday but it will be soon, I downed two shots of tequila rose to see if my utuerus would stop it's premeptive hurting. I think another one is in order. Mmm tequila rose is complete and total love. If I am a total bitch, it's probably because I'm about ready to go crashing into the crimson sea (and I hate it). Also I long for more Greil icons but I must cool my ardour. (Greil is so much motherfucking love, seriously. Honestly I wouldn't like that type of character *You know dresses, gender confusion and all that* UNLESS he was a homecidal maniac.) Because he has a giant fuckoff chain saw (errh Death Scythe), it makes that gender confusion QUITE ALL RIGHT. BloMo18: A Quantum of Bond.... [18 Nov 2008|11:57pm] lore [ mood | stressed ] [ music | House ] So, James Bond. We're going to see the new movie on Friday, YAY!!! I have a James Bond block on my brain, which makes the series endlessly entertaining - I can't ever remember the plot to a Bond flick. I must have seen some of them 20 times, but if you ask me what it's about, I couldn't tell you. I can remember action sequences or major explosion moments, some good lines and the like, but the actual kernel of plot that the movie hangs on - no way. About the only Bond movie I can actually explain the plot to is Goldeneye, which happens to be my #1 fave because of it. As for the various Bonds, what can I say? Brosnan was the Bond I'd longed for since the early 80s, and I wish the producers hadn't screwed him over by dropping him so suddenly. He was attractive, yet steely, and protrayed a good balance between humour and menace. Perfect. I always found Connery a little too menacing and flippant because he's the Bond of my youngest years, in eternal reruns on TV. He treated women like crap, and while I understand now that he was merely a product of his times, I couldn't just roll with it as a kid. I love Roger Moore as part of the franchise in general, but as Bond, he rather sucked. He was the 60s Batman tv show of the Bond series. If there's one Bond I've never had a good chance to study, it's George Lazenby. I've seen his one movie maybe...twice. Maybe. Could be only once. Timothy Dalton's Bond truly suffered from the beginning era of AIDS and safe sex concerns. He was ALL danger and no fun, and the plots behind him might be some of the most convoluted Bond plots ever. Niven simply doesn't count in my book, but I suppose "too poncey" would fit him. Which brings us to Craig. I was violently opposed to Craig, both because of Brosnan and the sandy-blond hair, but Casino Royale won me over. I think Craig is a little too intense most of the time, but then again, the plot totally fit that intensity. I am hoping Quantum of Solace will be the same. An abundance of humour might seem wedged in with Craig at the Bond helm. And that's about all I think about James Bond. *HUGS* love, lore 1 comment|post comment
