Who: Evan Beckett and Hollis DeWinter. When: Early evening. Where: The Cliffs Summary: The two of them officially meet for the first time. Rating: Likely not high. They're just meeting for the love of all things pure. Status: Pending.
The Cliffs, the one place in Ravencroft Acres where the teenagers could always be found. Whether it be for partying, hanging out around a roaring bonfire, finding the perfect makeout spot or finding a backseat or some hidden spot in the woods to have sex in, it was where most of the town's teenagers could be found at any and every given night, regardless of what social circle they were in.
On this night in particular, Evan was with his group of his friends, a bonfire blazing to the side of them. A row of beat-up and junky old but running motorcycles parked nearby. Evan's social circle was basically the roughnecked teenagers of the town. The ones who were too poor to care about much but still made the best of their situations in their own way. Most of them were standing around, clad in leather jackets, solid-color t-shirts and old denim jeans that were either distressed from long term wear, or dirty from a hard day at work. Evan was no exception, he just didn't have a motorcycle of his own. However, that rarely stopped him from taking off on one of his friends' bikes here and there just to have a quick ride and feel the wind against his face.
One of Evan's friends was missing from this particular gathering, Bryce Howard. Evan's closest friend more specifically. Where was Bryce? He had said he would be meeting him there and that had been quite some time ago. Evan hoped that Bryce hadn't managed to get into any trouble on his way. None the less, the rest of the group were all holding beers and talking about bikes and females, typical conversation for the majority of their social group. Evan, however, had a can of soda in his hand, always opting out of drinking alcohol, even something as simple as a beer. He had his reasons and his friends understood such and respected that decision.
"Your old man at it again?" One of the guys commented after noticing one of Evan's eyes was black. Evan shrugged in response. "You know, it is how it is." Which it was. Evan was used to always taking the brunt of his father's alcoholic tirades. Evan's home life wasn't exactly secretive. Everybody knew how Benny Beckett was, how big of an asshole he was. "Shit, I don't know why you haven't clocked him one good time back yet." Again Evan shrugged. Even with his father being the abusive piece of shit that he was, he was still Evan's father. That didn't give him an excuse to treat his son the way that he did, but regardless of how much he roughed up on Evan, Evan would never raise his hand to him.
The topic of conversation changed as some fancier cars pulled down further down from where they were currently congregating. Of course, inside those cars were some of the wealthiest and snobbiest teenagers in town. This sort of mixing usually never worked out and Evan knew that by the end of the night, there would be some sort of trouble going on, fighting and whatnot.
"Who called on the hired help?" One of the males joked loudly as he got out of the driver's side of one of the cars, other teenagers coming out to join him.
"Must be nice to have money, too bad it can't buy that bastard a better personality." One of the guys near Evan stated as Evan laughed softly.
However, as females began getting out of cars, one, in particular, had caught Evan's eyes. She had to have been the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in his life. And whether it was his own mind playing tricks on him, he felt like she illuminated the entire area just by existing. Evan simply stood there with soda in hand, just staring in her general direction, watching her.
"Waste of time, Evan." Evan snapped out of his dream-like state and looked next to him to one of his friends. "Girls like those, will never give guys like us a first glance, much less a second." Evan's gaze moved back from his friend to the blonde beauty that was currently laughing with her friends at something in the distance. And regardless of how close she may have seemed, she still was a million miles out of his reach. "Yeah," Evan agreed with his friend and tried to take his mind off of her.
