After their last encounter, Kalli felt pretty good about hanging around Romana. Honestly, when she'd first arrived in the last universe she was in, her relationship with the Romana there had been terrible strained. Here, however, she felt welcome and it was...a nice feeling, to be quite honest. Humming to herself a little, she headed toward Romana's office, Dante trotting at her heels without a leash. The dog wuffled a little bit curiously and sniffed about as the pair walked down the hall, which Kalli found utterly amusing.

Smiling to herself, she stopped in front of Romana's office and knocked.

Romana was sitting at her desk, frowning at the papers in front of her. Who would have guessed that teaching physics would be required so much work? She could have corrected half the syllabus, but, instead, was planning lessons based around it.

If she hadn't been so happy here she would have complained about the indignity.

She looked up at the sound of someone at the door. "Hello?"

	Taking that as an invitation, Kalli twisted the knob and pushed open the door. Offering Romana a little smile, the young Time Lady stepped inside. "Hey." Her dark eyes instantly went to the paperwork, eyebrows raising. "Having fun, are we? And without me. Shame." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	The dog's ears went back and she whined a little, lowering her head. It made Kalli laugh. "She knows what paperwork is. Silly thing." Scratching behind Dante's ear she returned her attention back completely to Romana. "Well, I know a nice little cafe with good sandwiches." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Beaming a bit, she nodded and headed out of the door into the hallway, Dante lingering back so she could sniff at Romana's hand and pockets. Obviously, she believed Romana would still have treats for her and was actively seeking them out. Kalli didn't mind, though, and instead made her way toward the exit, seeming in high spirits. 	Romana followed Kalli out after emptying her pockets of the handful of dog treats she had, and feeding them daintily to Dante. She then had to run to catch up with Kalli, but Dante seemed happy, so the older Time Lady didn't particularly mind. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Dante gobbled up all the treats, licking at Romana's hand after. When she saw Romana run, the Australian Sheppard barked and chased after her. Kalli just smiled a bit to herself, holding the door open for Romana and Dante respectively. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	"She'll do that. S'why I have to keep the box on top of the fridge so she won't get them down. She has tried though, little sneak." Kalli rubbed the top of her dog's head as they walked. "So uh, how have you been?" The younger Time Lady asked rather shyly, glancing at Romana's hand. Yes, she got an urge to make a move and hold it but she didn't follow through. "I'm sure she'll think of a way eventually," said Romana, utterly oblivious to Kalli's current thought processes. She probably wouldn't have objected even if she had been aware of it.

"Very well, thank you," she said honestly, "I have my own TARDIS now, so I can travel when I wish, but I do like it here. The Doctor's family, and the Torchwood team, and some other friends. It's all rather new."

"Well of course. Wouldn't be my faithful companion if she didn't." Kalli scratched Dante behind the ears, smiling when the canine whined happily. "Oh? Well that's good. I suppose I'm warming up to this place." Even though she was still trying not to get attached. "Made contact with Jack, who is as charming as ever. The Doctor, Rose...and Sarah Jane. So I'm making my own."

Swallowing slightly, she reached out and took Romana's hand in hers, lacing their fingers together though she looked at the ground. "And you, of course."

"Charming indeed," said Romana with a nod, thinking briefly of the Christmas party and finding it difficult to stop herself from grinning. "I expect that is the same no matter what universe you're in."

She was about to comment about rest of them, and their various dimension-transcending merits, but then Kalli slipped her hand into Romana's, and her expression became one of surprise and delight.

"I...I'm glad," she managed.

	"Oh, yeah, just down here!" Leading Romana down the path they soon came upon a cute little indie cafe. Dante pushed through the doggy door the cafe had, padding inside to get her doggy treat from the barista. Reluctantly, Kalli let go of Romana's hand so she could hold open the door for the other Time Lady. "After you." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

Dante was sitting on the floor near the counter, tail wagging as she munched on a doggy treat and got pets from one of the baristas.

"Kalli!" The young woman greeted with a grin as Dante turned and headed back over to her owner. "Long time no see. Who is your friend?" She turned and washed her hands, still talking and paying attention.

"Romana, this is Cristie, Cristie, Romana." She motioned a bit before heading up to the counter, Dante sniffing around at the other people in the cafe, finding a smaller dog to yap at who yapped right back.

"Good to meet you." Cristie turned back to the pair, smiling. "Now what can I get you two?"

"We'll have a grande white chocolate mocha and a grande earl gray tea." Kalli answered with a little smile.

"Coming right up. That'll be five dollars." Cristie called out the order to a young man making the drinks, and took Kalli's money, giving her the chance. "They'll be right out if you want to have a seat."

"C'mon." Kalli motioned for Romana to follow her, leading her companion over to one of the two couches. Dante was sprawled across one, ears perking up as her owner approached.

"Yeah. I wasn't sure if you'd be up for something more modern and flashy. You are welcome to have a taste of my mocha, though." Kalli offered, glancing over at Dante who wuffled at her. "No, you don't get coffee. Remember the last time I let you have some? I had to walk you for a good three hours."

Dante's ears fell back and she whined, which made the young Time Lady roll her eyes. "No means no, pup." Reaching over she patted the top of the dog's head before glancing up as Cristie brought them their drinks.

"Tea for you." She smiled and handed it to Romana. "And here's your mocha, Kal."

"Thanks Cristie." Kalli grinned as the barista wandered off. "Really, you don't get such cheerful service like that just anywhere."
