When: Day 68, late afternoon or early evening-ish

Rating: PG-13 maybe? Conversation should get pretty interesting

Toria was looking for a place to practice her violin. She got some of her best thinking done after practicing. When she practiced, she cleared her mind, and could organize her thoughts better. That was just as well, with her little cousins and one of her aunts missing. There was also the matter of the riots. It seemed like it was about time for another charitable trip through the streets of King's Landing.

For now, she wandered through the hallways in search of a place to practice. There was only so much time she could spend sitting in her room. Ideally, she'd be somewhere quiet, but not so desolate that she'd be out of earshot if she needed to yell for help.

She stopped her search when she saw a familiar face in the hallway. After the riots in the streets, she did want to see what sort of condition Jaehaerys was in. Her brother had a big black eye and bruised and swollen knuckles on his writing hand. If the gods were merciful, Jaehaerys wouldn't have any injuries worse than that. If the gods were sensible, they'd make sure he got hit upside the head at least once during the fight to knock some sense into him.

Who: Toria, Jaehaerys
When: Day 54, early evening
Where: Toria's room, then hallways and secret passageways of the Red Keep

Before it was too late to practice and everyone would be abed, Toria was practicing. Her violin had come first, then the flute. Her harp was back at home in Casterly Rock, as were her other instruments. After all, the original plan hadn't been to linger so long in King's Landing. But then, the original plan hadn't factored her father being named the Hand of the King in, amongst other things. All in all, the original plan had been drastically altered beyond the point of recognition.

Toria could play the game of thrones. Admittedly not as well as her father, but she understood how it was played. She currently lacked the power to be a full fledged player, but she could be a willing and clever piece in the game. Being good at the game, however, was not the same as enjoying it. She misliked keeping secrets from kin. It tugged away at her conscience in uncomfortable ways.

Music was a respite from the scheming and the guilt. She was playing a soft, sad song on the flute when a knock came at the door. Desmera answered, then approached her, waiting for her to finish the end of one part before interrupting.

"My lady? You have a visitor. Would you like me to let him in and order tea from the kitchens?"

"Please do," said Toria, cleaning and putting away her flute as Desmera went to let her guest in.

Dragons Fall: The Feast

When: Day 53, evening
Where: The Great Hall, The Red Keep
Who: All the nobles, others in the castle
Rating: PG or wherever the scheming takes them...

In the yards, silk tents had sprung up and casks of ale and tables laden with food had taken the place of the training grounds for the day. It was a feast to welcome the Ambassador of Lys and the Dornish newcomers to the court- but there were those who said it had other purposes. A celebration of the demise of the last princess, perhaps, or a show of Northron power....

The Great Hall rang with laughter and yet not all was well; there were somber faces as well as merry. Many noted Lord Penrose was not yet present and whispers drifted over the courses of goose and venison that he had resigned his post as Hand.

The evening held some warmth though the winter's chill was creeping closer. But the king had summoned his court and a feast was set before them all. Dancers from the Summer Isles spun in gowns of bright silk, acrobats leapt and tumbled, fools capered and juggled and singers told tales of ancient days. No breath of winter ever touched the land of song...

let the feast begin.

After receiving notice that two of the dresses she'd had made were ready, Toria returned to the dressmaker's shop. In addition to money for her dresses, she'd brought along a couple of large baskets of fresh bread. The smallfolk had appreciated her last charitable gesture. It didn't hurt to remind them of House Lannister's philanthropy. After all, her father was likely to be named Hand once Lord Penrose formally stepped down from the position.

Although the charitable gesture didn't have any personal effect on the highborn in King's Landing, it had made a positive impression amongst most people. The children Toria had hired told her so. Some, however, had said that a highborn lady shouldn't bother mingling with common folk and should have sent a servant to offer the gifts instead. Toria concluded they'd missed the point entirely. The point was for the smallfolk to be able to place a face to the kindnesses rather than solely a family name.

Ser Geron, her ever present shadow when she wasn't in the Keep, accompanied her. He waited outside the dressmaker's shop as she finished the transaction, but stood close by when she began passing out bread.

Who: Toria, Lyanora (others may show up later if they'd like)
When: Day 51, sometime after Lya's visit with Lilyanna
Where: King's Landing, the Red Keep, in a hallway
Rating: PG
Status: Open

Toria was naturally very light on her feet. She had to be careful not to sneak up on her family members. However, when she really did want to sneak up on someone, this was a useful skill. She'd heard her aunt Lyanora speaking just down the hall and had taken care to move along extra quietly. Nobody noticed her approach until it was too late.

"Aunt Lyanora!" said Toria delightedly as she launched herself toward her aunt for an affectionate flying-hug.

It wasn't entirely ladylike, but given her aunt's predisposition to wear men's clothing and carry a sword around, her aunt wasn't likely to scold her for it.

Toria had no luck attempting to visit Elia - as if the Gold Cloaks thought she'd somehow be able to break her friend out of prison, much less while being carefully observed. That would be quite some feat, she thought wryly to herself. Even with charming smiles and all the appropriate courtesies, all she'd gotten anyone to agree to was to convey her concern and well-wishing to Elia.

Since that had been unsuccessful, Toria found herself a quiet corner outside in the Red Keep's yard and had settled down with her violin to play. Music was soothing, and it was a welcome distraction from her troubles. As she played, she immersed herself in the music, and made the violin sing. She was so immersed in her music that she was only partially aware of her surroundings. It was the sound of footsteps that disrupted her flow. Stopping, she turned to see who was coming.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of House Lannister

Who: Toria, Jaehaerys
When: Day 24, evening
Where: The Inn of the Golden Hand
Rating: PG-13 perhaps? R rated at this point.
Status: Ongoing

A Lannister paid his or her debts. Lannisters weren't known for the same type of honor that Starks were, but that was a particular brand of honor that Toria had learned to hold true to. Keeping her word and paying her debts. At the moment, she owed a debt to Jaehaerys Targaryen, currently in disguise. She wasn't certain what he'd want, and knew that her father could grant far more than she ever could. But still. She'd sought out his help, and he'd aided a child that he had no obligation to aid.

At the very least, it merited a thank you directly from her own lips, and an offer to help him in whatever way she could. Rightful heir to the throne or not, it was her father's pledge of allegiance and a feeling of being indebted that prompted her to help more than courtesy required.

Ser Geron escorted her again, to keep her safe, and because there wasn't a single other man in her father's service that Toria trusted to be more close-mouthed than Ser Geron Marbrand would be. He already knew what was going on and had remained silent. He could be trusted a great deal further than most.

All she had to do was locate the incognito prince.

Wake up, little one

Who: Toria
When: Day 22, evening, just after this post and occuring at the same time as this one
Where: The Red Keep, Gwyn's room
Rating: PG
Status: Closed

Toria had made certain a Stark servant was relieving her aunt before she came by and offered her own relief. She instructed the woman to bring milk and honey up so that Gwyn could be fed, and then to go and have a meal of her own afterward. The woman came back soon enough with the honey and milk, and a piece of bread for Toria to eat while she kept vigil by Gwyn's side.

"Thank you. Please take your time. I will be here by her side until you return."

She would be true to her word. She would be there until the servant returned. What she couldn't guarantee was what condition Gwyn would be in after giving her this antidote, or if it would even change at all. It was a risk that had to be taken. If you wanted to cross a bridge, you had to take the steps to do it. Her little cousin's life was so much more than a bridge, but the metaphor fit. The maesters had nothing to cure her.

Pouring the contents of the vial into the mixture of milk and honey, Toria lifted Gwyn's head gently and opened her mouth to receive what she hoped was an antidote.

Once she was certain all of the contents were inside Gwyn's mouth, she rubbed her throat gently to make her body swallow it and set her head back down on her pillow. Leaning over her little cousin's bedside, she kissed her forehead.

"May you be blessed with life and not death," she whispered. "Please awaken soon."
