Dragons Fall: The Feast

When: Day 53, evening
Where: The Great Hall, The Red Keep
Who: All the nobles, others in the castle
Rating: PG or wherever the scheming takes them...

In the yards, silk tents had sprung up and casks of ale and tables laden with food had taken the place of the training grounds for the day. It was a feast to welcome the Ambassador of Lys and the Dornish newcomers to the court- but there were those who said it had other purposes. A celebration of the demise of the last princess, perhaps, or a show of Northron power....

The Great Hall rang with laughter and yet not all was well; there were somber faces as well as merry. Many noted Lord Penrose was not yet present and whispers drifted over the courses of goose and venison that he had resigned his post as Hand.

The evening held some warmth though the winter's chill was creeping closer. But the king had summoned his court and a feast was set before them all. Dancers from the Summer Isles spun in gowns of bright silk, acrobats leapt and tumbled, fools capered and juggled and singers told tales of ancient days. No breath of winter ever touched the land of song...

let the feast begin.

Who: Tymor Lannister and anyone who wants to join him outside
When: Day 20, morning
Where: Red Keep, outdoors
Rating: PG?
Status: OPEN

Tymor's personal servant had strongly hinted that he should go out and enjoy the positively lovely weather outside. He was certain that if the man had been anything but a servant, it would have come as an instruction, not a suggestion. Raynald knew his father's opinion on what constituted "overdoing it" wth books and made every attempt to steer Tymor in other directions when he thought he was reaching that point.

Of course, trying to push a proud lion into doing anything was simply asking for him to do the very thing he wasn't supposed to, out of spite.

Tymor had gone out for a walk, with Lion's Claw sheathed at his hip...but he'd also brought a very large history book. It was an old, unrevised edition, and he found it interesting that some events were painted very differently in the old and new versions. It just went to prove that history was written by the victors. Atrocities could be glazed over for the sake of making the victorious side seem "good" and the side that lost seem "bad".

He sat reading in the sun, and looked up from his reading only when he heard footsteps approaching.

When: Early evening, Day 5
Where: Gwyn's room and hall between the Princess's room and the library of the Red Keep
Rating: TBD
Status: Open

The note from the Maester of Whispers echoed in Kaelyn's mind as she watched over her daughter. If she had her way she would rarely move from her daughter's bed but she was queen and had two more children beside. She feared that going from one to another she would spread the contagion but if the illness was such would not Genna already have fallen prey to it like her sister. No-one knew and her resentment of the Grand Maester's lack of knowledge grew everyday as she watched her daughter's sleeping form. She looked younger than her six years and Kaelyn thought of the North, of Winterfell - of dresses made from cloth woven in the winter town and sewn by trusted hands. If that dress maker could be found Kaelyn would have her thrown into the black cells.

She wanted to feed Gwyn herself. Honey and herbs diluted were all she can take but when she took the bowl and spoon her hands shook and she could not have that be seen. Kaelyn was not merely a mother with an ill child, she was Queen and how she hated it. She gave the task over to one of the few servants who they had brought from Winterfell and was therefore trusted. She had sent the Septa away and her prayers for Gwyn's health were said at the godswood not the sept. To excuse herself without revealing her nerves she set out to fetch one of the volumes of tales from the Red Keep's library. She knew all the stories of course but she could not follow a tale nor keep her thoughts steady. She would tell Gwyn a story of pretty maids, a tale with nothing ugly in it. The sort of tale she knew Gwyn liked to hear.

[ooc: Kin to the Stark's can catch Kaelyn in Gwyn's room or non kin who would like to speak to an anxious queen can catch her on the way to get the book]

The Small Feast

Who: The Starks, their family members and close friends (William, Kaelyn, Genna and Gwyn Stark; Tyrith, Toria, Tyronne Lannister; Hester Arryn; anyone else William or Kaelyn cared to invite. Kingsguard Present: Jonath Rowan and Jayce Walsh)
When: The evening of Day 1
Where: The Queen's Ballroom, Maegor's Holdfast
Rating: PG-13
Status: Ongoing

The Queen's Ballroom was draped in white and silver, warmed by the light of torches and the music floating on the air. There was an intimate feeling to the hall this night, with fewer place settings and a smaller grouping of tables. This was not a great event for the entire court, but a gathering of family and friends, and a chance to relax.

Servants hurried about, giving the last polish to a bowl, the final sweep of a broom. One by one they finished their tasks and stepped back to wait as the time came and the first of the familymembers began to arrive.

(you may reply here with the various conversations and events, moving into different threads as conversations change or move. It would be helpful to write a journal entry afterward to sum up what your character's part and conversations were during the feast. Jonath and Jayce do not need to actively take part- they are guards, and as such are standing watch over the King, not necessarily a part of the action unless called upon.)
