Gwyn was about to say some angry words when her sister caught up to her, but was taken aback by what the other girl began to say. She stopped in her walking and stood there, hands clenched in fists for a moment. And in that moment Gwyn found that she wasn’t any better than Genna…not when she realized that tears were coming because of what her sister had said.
Her parents had promised her to marry Lord Arys’ son? And Genna was to be sent to the Sunspear?
Gwyn didn’t feel like a brave adventurer any longer. She felt…afraid, and angry, and a mix of other emotions. In her short walk toward the woods she had envisioned herself living happily at Winterfell once again. Everyone listening to her. If she was lonely she could play with Ned as Ned was still there after all and Gwyn liked him much better than the children at The Keep.
When her sister turned back the way she’d come all of the emotions she felt at her sister’s words turned into one particularly strong emotion…anger. Gwyn, she was not stupid Rena anymore, set herself after her sister and threw her body into the other girl, so that they both toppled to the ground. She hoped her sister would break something!
“This is all your fault!” She screeched out then. “You did something bad while I was asleep. Everyone said you were bad and a handful and that’s why they were sending you away!” She took hold of her sister’s hair and pulled on it hard. How dare Genna do something to try and leave her like that. She was her twin! “And they thought I would be the same and I’m not. I hate you, Genna! I hate you! You've ruined everything and now we'll never go home!”
