For a moment Gwyn was completely taken aback that her sister had dared to say such a thing to her. Anger or not, her twin was still the person she cared for most in her life, and it hurt to have such a terrible thing. As if it was somehow her fault that she wasn’t growing.
But the moment of shocked silence was only that, a moment, and Gwyn had soon found her voice again. “I don’t know anything about you!” She shrieked childishly then. “My twin wouldn’t call me-call me a baby like that. This isn’t my fault. This is yours!”
Gwyn knew that she shouldn’t have acted in the way she was about to. At any other point in her life she would never act thusly. This sort of irrational behavior was best saved for Genna. Gwyn was always so…collected, even in arguments she rarely raised her voice with her sister and when she did she certainly never did anything physical. But it was too much. The months of things being quite fantastical and exciting were now wearing into Gwyn wishing they were elsewhere, where people weren’t constantly asking what age she was as they tried to catch her in a lie. And so Gwyn did something she very much should not have.
She put her foot straight through one of the masks left on the floor. She also managed to push her sister, incredibly angered that the girl was clearly ignoring her. “Don’t you ignore me, Genna!” The name came out, the result of anger and her sister apparently thinking herself superior. “You’ve stolen my height! You’re only allowed to grow the same as me, but you’ve taken it all. I bet someone taught you, huh? I want you to stop growing right now!”
