Toria felt her heart pounding in her chest. She struggled to wriggle out of the man's grasp, more determined to escape than ever. He knew about Jaehaerys being here, and obviously knew who Jaehaerys was in disguise if he knew that she knew. That made him all the more dangerous.
"I didn't hear much," she said, trying to stop her voice from sounding frightened. She succeeded in making her voice sound less frightened than she really was, but she couldn't keep the fear completely out of her voice.
"I didn't hear anything worth speaking of. Only something about holding something in trust, and soon the land would have its fill of something. That's all I heard."
A small lie, but the less it seemed like she knew, the more likely she was to survive these 'lessons'.
"Now leave me alone. I have heard nothing of value, and I have not seen your face in the light. What could I possibly tell anyone even if I wanted to?"
Her expression could not be seen clearly, but she was glaring. She was angry that he was making her afraid.
