Kaelyn has matters to discuss with her lord husband Who: Kaelyn, William When: after Tyrith tells William the sitch Where: Kaelyn's chambers Rating: PG-13 Status: Closed.
Kaelyn sat alone in her chambers. Gwyn was gone, alone out there and so weak… Oh Gods, let this be some mischief of Genna’s. They’d be back in a few hours, all wide eyes and laughter, not understanding how anyone could be upset. William would have been told, of course; Tyrith would see to it. She’d spent the morning with Brandon, reassuring herself he was still here, still warm and laughing. It had been all right until she’d realized the twins should have appeared for lessons- she’d actually asked the Maester to see what was keeping them. He’d looked at her so kindly and then she’d had to flee before her tears upset Brandon.
William’s fault, the dark part of her heart whispered. They wouldn’t have done this if they’d learned to attend their duties better; this was Lyanora’s influence. The thought of the girls and Celia taken away by force she couldn’t begin to think of- no, this was selfish mischief. But Celia… Celia had children of her own. What madness might have—Oh gods. What if Celia was mad and lured the twins away? What if they’d been on some little exploration and had some terrible accident? Her mind was spinning with a million what if’s and each was worse and more outlandish than the last.
She smoothed her skirts as she heard steps in the hall. Someone to say they’d found the girls. Someone to say they’d just gone with Celia to the dressmakers and forgotten to say anything… Why weren’t they found already? Was the whole of this damned castle incompetent?
