Who: Neville & Open
Where: Grimmauld Place Sitting Room
Neville curled up at one end of one of the large sofas, looking rather unenthusiastically at the book in his hands. He found it somewhat amusing that a few months ago, he would have given nearly anything to have a book to read, particularly one which detailed ways in which wandless magic could be better controlled. But after a week of lessons, which themselves were very on-and-off due to his father's responsibilities to the Outsider's new hastily-formed government, reading about it was rather the last thing he fancied doing.
He lay back instead and stared around the room. Grimmauld Place had been slowly emptied of servants over the last few weeks, many having been picked up by grateful parents or relatives, others gone to travel to find their own families or join those who were even now being released from the breeding and labour camps. Neville was glad that his family had not moved. His parents had given up their room at the old house, where the Potters lived, to come live with him at Grimmauld Place. He wondered whether his own obvious reluctance to be parted by any distance from the Weasley family had come into the decision, or if it was just convenience.
Not that there weren't certain members of the family he could do without. He had lost count of the number of times he had been caught in one of the twins' booby traps over the last few weeks. He had now been late to dinner twice after being turned blue or soaked through to the skin with water in the most unexpected places, and he was proud enough that he would rather no one - especially his girlfriend - found out about these unfortunate encounters.
Since he was sure they were laying these traps especially for him, he tried to go everywhere he could with someone else, but that wasn't easy. Everyone was busy, even those servants which remained, now that Grimmauld Place was basically headquarters for the former Outsiders. People came in and out all the time, though Frank would not hear of Neville himself going too far afield. He liked to think it was because his parents would rather nothing happened to him, though deep down he knew it was because they worried what he might do to other people - or at least, buildings.
He sighed. Life outside of the Academy was a lot more complicated than he had imagined.
