Thread: Vertigo & Forge
Who: Vertigo & Forge
When: Morning, Thursday, September 11
Where: The LAIR!
What: Vertigo's gone without her bionic hand ever since she accidentally got it stuck in the dishwasher and it went through a cycle and broke. Forge has offered to help her, so she's going to see him. He's not her true love (Tessa!) but he'll do.

Well, really, she had to do something about this if Sinister was going to put her on the job. It was bad enough that she lost her robot-nerd niche market on her website and was back to catering to amputees. She hated that. It was humiliating. She hated being an amputee. Whether she had the hand or not, that was what she was. Handicapped, forever damaged. It was disgusting. Remy Lebeau was a real son of a bitch for what he did to her. She might give him some bumps and bruises along the way, but blasting off her hand? Fuck this. Fuck him! Fuck him right in the ear!

She navigated her way through the Lair, keeping her right ... stump ... hidden in a pocket of her well-worn hooded sweatshirt. She had a tote bag slung over her shoulder, and inside of it was her busted up prosthetic and all of its harnesses. This was the third or fourth time she'd busted it. She really needed to take better care of it. She couldn't always help it happening in battle, but stupid accidents? Not cool. She was just clumsy with it and she shouldn't have been.

"Uh... hello?" She called out. "Uh, hey, I'm looking for a dude named Forge who said he'd help me out..."

( OMG!! I missed this notification entirely! I was waiting on you! I am super sorry! *rushes back for tagging!* )

"Dick? Yeah. Well, you know. We have a love-hate relationship. More like hate-hate. We hate each other but then sometimes we hate each other," said Val. "I was a bitch to him. He's not the kind of guy you want to piss off. And no----he's not Brotherhood. He's hanging out at that mutant school with the goody-goodies. He's not one of them, though. He'll always be working for the Boss. I'm just in the Brotherhood for something to do. It's not really my thing. But I help out when I can. And ..." She looked down at Forge's foot.

"You can make it look real?" she asked, looking back up again. "Really?"

(It's okay! :D)

The Boss? He was pretty certain she didn't mean Bruce Springsteen, but if this Boss-guy employed people who blew off hands for whatever reason, Forge was pretty certain that asking questions about him might not be something he wanted to do just then.

"Darlin', you give me enough time and nobody would ever know it was a prosthesis unless you told them. Mine's metal because I like it that way. People get all fucking freaked out by it, makes me laugh."

Oooh. Call her darling again. Val leans forward a little and leans on the table without even realizing she's really doing it. "You can do that. Oh. Wow." She wouldn't be a freak? She could have a Luke Skywalker hand? ---Whoa, when did she become a nerd.

"That's ..." She looked down at her stump, at the broken prosthetic. She'd kind of grown attached to the robot look. She whined about it but she'd taken it to heart. She liked the intimidation factor, the badass factor. Did this mean she was growing as a person? Did this mean she wasn't hideously shallow?

"No. Don't make it real," she said. "I want it with colored wires. Chrome. Make it shiny." She reached down to touch Forge's artificial leg. She had to remind himself that yeah, he was a freaky amputee, but so was she. And he could build her things. And he would build her things, willingly, without asking for anything in return. It actually confused her. So she had to clarify.

"What do you want for it? Cash? Sexual favors?"

Laughing, he glanced down at where she was touching his leg, before putting the old hand down on the worktop.

"How much do you think it's worth? Two prosthetics, with attachments, upgrades, wires, chrome and extra-shiny?" he asked, grinning as he shifted a bit closer to her.
