Thread: Aubrey & Kasey
Who: Aubrey Ryan & Kasey Gibson
When: Evening, Monday, September 8
Where: Kasey's room
What: Aubrey's finally going to come in and ask the tough questions.

Aubrey was stressing over this. This idea that Kasey was going to leave. She'd made her appointment with Mr. Ramirez regarding her deportation. It sounded like in a month, she was leaving the country, and who knew when she was coming back. And she hadn't even really talked to Aubrey. Yeah, she was concerned for herself. Aubrey understood that on the importance scale, he probably ranked really low right about now. At the same time, he was ... a little annoyed that their relationship hadn't even come into question. She didn't seem concerned about leaving him. Maybe she couldn't process it. Aubrey didn't know. Aubrey needed to know----

Because he sure as hell didn't want her to leave. He didn't want her leaving, didn't want her to be forced to leave. And here he thought registering with the government was bad. He registered, and she got deported. What the fuck? What the everliving fuck. He also wanted to know if... if she left, would she miss him? Was she as bothered by this as he was? She didn't seem to be, but she had a lot on her mind.

So, that was why he came to her room. Knocking on the door until she opened it. Then he was signing and speaking at the same time: "What happens to you and me when they deport you, huh?"

"Don't put it like that! This is sort of complicated." She sighed, sitting up. This was exhausting her mind, and maybe she should have been all gung-ho about this plan. Hey, she could stay! But with the way the country was going, hell. Maybe she didn't want to stay. As soon as she thought that, she felt a little bad. She loved Aubrey, but you know what, she really loved not getting beaten and shot, too.

For once, she really wished there was some divine plan that would tell her what to do.

Why is this complicated? Aubrey signed, exasperated. You can go, you can leave, or you can stay! Aubrey was here no matter what, he was risking getting beaten and shot no matter what, so for him that really didn't factor into the equation. He was over-simplifying things into being just about them.

If she were a rosie-eyed optimistic romantic, this would be a lot easier. But...well, she wasn't. If there were nothing in Australia for her, it would be easier. But she loved her family as much as she loved Aubrey. And this might be her only chance to leave.

"Because America's fucked up!" She tossed her hands in the air. "There are some really good reasons to stay here if they let me. And if they do, am I ever going to get home again? America wasn't supposed to be a permanent move. Two years. It was supposed to be two years for college, that's it. So the fuck happened?" She fell in love and America fucked itself over. Part of her hated herself for saying some of these things, sounding like a coward and probably hurting Aubrey's feelings, but this whole thing made her lose her temper and not think.

She sounded like a coward and she was hurting Aubrey's feelings, but the trouble was, she had a damn point and that meant that Aubrey couldn't just be needlessly angry with her for not seeing the relative genius in his plot to keep her here. He couldn't deny the fact that America was fucked up, because it was, and she had no real need to stay here apart from her friends at the school. Oh, and him. And if he wasn't important enough to happily marry, then what was the point of staying away from her family? He clearly didn't take precedence in this situation and he knew it.

If you can get out, you should get out, Aubrey signed. It was a nice thing he was saying, but he still looked pissed. And he was. He was angry. He was upset with the idea of losing her, he was frustrated with the fact that decisions like this had to be made. Staying in America wasn't safe for her, she'd have better luck in Australia with her family. But it was far from him and he wanted her here. He couldn't have her here. Go home, finish college in Australia. Stay there and stay safe.
