Thread: Wolverine, Storm... & Cyclops
Who: Logan & Ororo Munroe (.. & Scott "The Cockblock" Summers)
When: Sunday, March 30, 2008 (late afternoon)
Where: Out at the lake, Xavier's School
What: The weather's starting to get warmer, so Logan takes advantage of his alone-on-the-grounds time in order to take a dip in the lake. Naked. Anyone want a piece? Turns out Ororo wants a piece.

_______________________

When Logan wasn't teaching gym or off rescuing scarred blue elves with a bunch of little kids, he was usually outside. Just like Scott Summers found solace working on cars in the garage, Logan found his peace outdoors, doing the hard labor that no one else really wanted to do. He took care of the grounds----and there was a lot of land to take care of. He mowed the lawn, he tended the gardens, he trimmed hedges, he kept rats out of the school basement. This summer he was planning on repainting the boathouse, since most of the greyish-blue paint was weathered and peeling. The dock needed a new coat of waterproof sealer to keep it from cracking.

In winter, Logan was left without a lot to do. Snow covered the grounds, the gardens were frozen over, and there was nothing to do apart from clear dead branches. Spring was here, but nothing had really grown, so he spent his time preparing the soil for growth. Fertilizing lawns, that kind of thing. It gave him an excuse to be outdoors, away from everyone. As much as he'd come to care for the other people at the school, he was still a loner, and being in a space that was constantly full of other people was against his nature.

So, he'd taken time outside today, taking a long walk around the school grounds, maybe beyond, through the woods and across the field that was the backyard. It wasn't terribly hot that day but the sun was bright with the sky clear, and would have burned anyone else. Instead, Logan's skin started to heal over the moment it began to dry out and turn red. Burned or not, the sun was hot, and the lake was cold. Way too cold for swimming, but that was fine by him. Logan really didn't swim. The adamantium skeleton kept it from being an enjoyable experience. Nonetheless, the sun was hot, the water was cold, and that meant that Logan left his boots and his clothes on the edge of the lake before he waded naked into the water, splashing himself and feeling the cold diffuse the heat of his skin.

Felt better than any hot shower he'd taken, that was for sure. The silence, the solitude, the awareness that he was outdoors----that was where he wanted to be. Get a little time to himself to think about what had happened with Magneto, with... everything. With Kurt, poor guy. Tougher than Logan thought he was. Speaking of tough... his kids that he took on the mission sure knew how to pull a punch or two. And Tommy. He was underestimating everyone these days. He'd have to stop making assumptions.

Logan, of course, was not the only one who gravitated to the outdoors. It didn't matter the weather, Ororo would be outside if she could, and the weather on this Sunday just couldn't be overlooked. A smile, a nice, real smile that was rare in these days, was on her face as the sun beat down, warming her skin. She could handle it better than anyone at the school, and she just naturally preferred summer. The hotter the better.

She had walked within sight of the lake, noticing the figure moving into the lake. She thought it was Logan, but she wasn't quite sure from this distance. A devilish thought crossed her mind, and the wind changed direction and put her downwind from Logan; it was not easy to sneak up on someone like him, but it was worth a shot. Flying slightly off the ground, she landed on the dock -- if he hadn't seen or heard her coming before then, he must have noticed that. Or else he was really into his swimming.

"You know, Logan, you're lucky Jubilee isn't here to make you barter for your clothes." Really, leaving his clothes ashore in a school full of tricksters was not a smart idea. Then again, Logan, like Ororo, probably didn't have the most shame about being naked.

Logan jerked around, startled. What the----?! He was rarely startled like that, and he had a fist raised like he was about to bring the claws out. However... no. Ororo. Just Ororo. At her comment, he glanced at the clothes and raked his wet hands through his hair. He grunted once, like that meant "Who cares?" If he had to walk back to the school naked, he'd walk back to the school naked. He didn't have a problem with it-----other people did. Too bad for them.

"You gonna join me?" He grinned wolfishly, raising his eyebrows. "Jubilee can make you barter for your clothes, too."

Ororo wasn't going to laugh at managing to startle him. She wasn't. Nope. Actually, maybe just a little. Sneaking up on Logan wasn't something she would be able to manage again, so she might as well enjoy it.

Her laughter died down, and she was surprised by how relaxed she felt. She hadn't felt this good during Magneto's whole reign, and now although there was still work to be done, it was a good time.

Her own eyebrows raised at his question. Her bare feet stepped to the ledge as she playfully considered his words for a long moment. "It depends..." she answered at length, hands settling onto the button of her shorts. "Are you going to turn around while I change?" And by change, she meant strip. He could decide what he thought the right answer was. Jean had once upon a time done a good job convincing Ororo that clothes were needed in America, but if Logan didn't think anything of it, why should she?

Logan actually allowed himself to chuckle, shaking his head and flinging water droplets everywhere. "You really think----" He stopped himself, giving her a friendly, familiar once-over, and then with a rare smile he turned his back on her.

Tilting his head the glance back at her, he said, "Well?"

Ororo, letting her hair down and taking her clothes off. The world had to be settling itself back into place if they could actually relax.

It was true, Ororo hadn't had this much fun in a while. It was no wonder most of the school thought she couldn't have fun. She might always be careful to be aloof in some ways, but this was just good times.

Even Logan was smiling. Clearly, things were okay for the moment.

"How polite!" she teased, pulling her shirt over her head and then her bra. The clothes made a pile next to Logan's, followed by everything else she was wearing. Without even testing the water first, she slipped into the water.

Wow, that was chilly. It only took a moment for her body to adjust, though, and she smoothed back her long white hair with water.

It kind of went without saying, but Logan could turn around now.

Logan could have a good time. He could, and when he was in a decent mood he was actually a pretty good flirt. A predatory flirt. He moved in on Ororo more than once, but she was strong enough to tell him no, and that was the way they did things. He got a little too close, invaded her space, took in her scent... and she pushed him away. That was the way things went, and he was fine with that. He wasn't heartbroken. Logan didn't get heartbroken.

Often.

Logan was at a depth that the water was only waist high, and as he turned around he moved a little deeper to join her. Wow. Hi, cold. Cold, but good. Better now that there was a sexy woman in there with him. He glanced to her pile of clothes, then back at her. "I figured you'd be in Washington with all the chaos out there," he said, turning the conversation casual.

Logan was really an excellent flirt. That was one of the things Ororo liked about him. It was fun to flirt right back--and then shoot him down. Partially because that was part of the fun. But also, the time had never been right. Between his things for Jean and then Shadowfox, and then also Ororo's reluctance to get into anything, she'd never felt right letting things go on too long or far. She had an untouchable reputation to maintain.

Yet here she was swimming naked with him.

Ororo did sort of wonder what he was thinking when he looked back at her clothes and then at her. Was he wondering if she had really done it? She took his conversation for what it was worth, though, and shrugged, the water just high enough for her to paddle slightly and not expose herself. "Too many cooks in the kitchen. I'd like to be there, but after the battle, I needed to rest. Charles, Hank, and Don can probably handle things, and they know they can call me if needed." She smiled a little. "Besides, someone needs to be here to watch over the kids."

"What, you think I can't watch over kids?" Logan asked, raising an eyebrow. "I can watch over kids. S'why you people like to make me babysitter when you go out."

He pushed the water over his shoulders and down his arms, his body weighted and heavy in the water. "But I don't blame you for not wanting to be there. Starts to look suspicious anyway. No matter how qualified you might be... the normal folks ain't gonna like it. Things'll work out. Nobody wants the world to end, so... things'll work out." And that was Logan's sage wisdom for the situation. He was keeping out of the politics, that was for sure. Things would work out without his help.

Things would work out without his help because he was busy in the lake, naked, with Ororo Munroe.

Ororo laughed just a little at his reaction. She knew he could hold down the fort, and she knew occasions when she had had him do just that. But teasing him was priceless.

"You're right," she added when the conversation went serious again. "Humans are going to be wary enough without a whole bunch of mutants trying to reorganize things. I'm perfectly happy being here right now." Whether here was the school or specifically in the lake, he could choose. The combination of the hot sun and the cold water was lovely, though, and she stretched back, letting her head lay back in the water and her hair spread out.

And, honestly, even the untouchable Windrider couldn't keep a stray eye from watching the water he put on his arms slide back down into the lake.

And Logan, who was all animal instinct, couldn't help looking at her hair, at the way her lean muscles stretched----frankly, there wasn't nearly enough of her out of the water for Logan. Tch.

Logan, on the other hand, wasn't actually aware that Ororo was looking at him. Okay. Vaguely aware. And that was kind of cool. But the thing about Logan was that part of the thing that made him attractive was that he didn't try. He didn't bother. He just... was what he was, without apologies, and he was a hairy, sweaty, muscular man in a lake. Didn't try to stand at the right angle, didn't try to have the light hit him just right... whatever.

"So be here," he said, scratching the side of his face. "Everybody's got to take a break from responsibility once in a while or you'll go crazy. You see it in the Professor... but it just wears him down, doesn't drive him nuts. Arla, on the other hand..." Well, Arla was kind of a touchy subject around here.

And that's what Ororo quite liked--Logan's naturalness. The raw power. It was, in fact, quite attractive when she stopped to think about it. It was probably a good thing she was too busy to sit and contemplate her teammate's sexual appeal.

Although she was fairly certain Logan was watching her right now. She was neither going to encourage or discourage his viewing.

"Arla's a different situation," she said quickly...and bluntly. Arla was a friend, and her downward spiral was terrifying. Thank the goddess she was finding her footing again. "But you're right, it's important to take some time to relax, enjoy the little things." Like the lovely lake, whose water she caused to ripple by passing her hands over the surface slightly.

"I got your garden ready for you," Logan said, speaking of the little things. "All clear, I promise I won't touch it, not even to clear things out. Don't want to take away your responsibility, after all." See? He could be thoughtful, even conscientious. Really. He was actually kind when someone got to know him. Brusque, but kind.

And small talk? He wasn't good at it. He was more content to just sit there in silence with her than he was to talk. He could deal with silence. He liked silence. He could sit for an hour with someone without saying a word and consider it time well spent.

One thing that was better than small talk was inserting a snide remark here or there. Like now. "What're your students gonna say when they catch you in here with me, huh? I'll have you know they all think you've got a stick shoved farther up your ass than Cyclops does."

A content smile was on her lips when Logan mentioned her garden. She really couldn't wait to go tend to her garden. And she was quite grateful he left that little part of the grounds for her. Otherwise she'd have to reclaim part of the grounds, and they could get territorial.

Ororo enjoyed the silence, letting it hang for a while longer even after he spoke again. "If they 'catch me', they'll just have to learn that I, actually, have a sense of fun. Somewhere deep down inside." She grinned playfully. "And besides, there are more scandalous circumstances they could find us in."

Logan took this opportunity to move a little closer, challenging. "Oh, yeah?" he asked, his voice low. "Like what?"

This was the way they worked. He moved in, she pushed away.

Back and forth, it was the way they worked. It was a good system. But what if she didn't? What if she gave into that little voice.

She came a bit closer, the water going a bit lower. "There are lots of ways, actually."

"Oh, yeah?" Logan bridged the gap between them, invading her personal space to the point where it should have been uncomfortable. Because, really-----he was going to push her. She had boundaries and he'd break past them just to rattle her, just so she'd push him away----and maybe feel bad about it later. He'd done the same thing with Jean.

"Name one."

She probably should have felt uncomfortable, and Ororo knew she was breaking her own rule on non-involvement, but she was a free spirit. Her priorities were still in line, her emotions were still in check, so she'd just enjoy herself a little. There was no harm in that, right?

"You could kiss me."

How ironic if her being unrattled would rattle him.

Logan was taken aback, slightly, and he took another small step forward, his lips just an inch from hers. "You don't want to do that," he said gruffly. "You're messin' with me, 'Ro."

Maybe this was a bad idea, if Logan of all people seemed skeptical. But this wasn't like the other times when Logan overstepped his boundaries. Maybe 'Ro was just being stupid, but she'd really come to care about Logan. If he actually didn't want to, though...

"Do you see me backing away?" There. Now Ororo put the line in the sand. Or...muddy lake. He could close the distance or leave right now, and that'd be fine.

It wasn't a matter of not wanting to. Hell, of course Logan wanted to. Ororo was there, there were beads of water dripping down her throat and chest, and this close, he could hear her heartbeat in his ears. Feel her pulse in opposition was his, feel her breath against his mouth. The water canceled out a lot of her other scents, but that didn't really matter right now, not when she was being a damn smartass with him.

"No, I don't," said Logan. A strong arm slid around her waist and pulled her naked body against his. That was his gauntlet, thrown down, his lips still a breath from hers.

Quite some gauntlet. That was enough to take 'Ro by some surprise, and her heart rate increased when their bodies came in contact. Her arms went around his shoulders and kept the two close. This alone? Far more compromising for her students to see.

"Well, then, I guess I'm not messing with you." Her voice was a whisper. Of course she'd still be a smartass. She had this habit of always wanting to be right.

Just to be even more clear, she closed the distance between their lips.

Logan didn't waste any more time with the teasing. He wasn't gentle, his mouth pressed hard against hers as he practically crushed her body against his. He pulled back only for a moment, tugging at her lower lip with his teeth before moving in for a renewed kiss. The bruising, oh-my-god-finally intimacy of it made it slightly clumsy, and there was a small slip further into the water with her, sending a small shiver down his back.

Ororo wasn't Jean, and Logan didn't care. Ororo was the unassuming one who was always at his side, where they flirted with the knowledge that nothing would come of it, where they didn't take one another the least bit seriously. She was the steady friend, the strong woman who didn't let her emotions out of control for fear of causing a thunderstorm or blizzard by accident. She didn't do shit like this.

---At least, Logan didn't think she did shit like this. For once he wasn't too unhappy that he was dead wrong.

Scott was tired. A good kind of tired, really, that came from long, solid hours on a motorcycle. He wasn't a politician, and at the moment, he was just cramping up the gears in Washington. Scott was a fighter and a strategist; he didn't do political whatever. So he'd come home. He needed to come home, to rest, to be with his friends (what few of them there were), and even without Charles ...

To be honest, they hadn't really talked about what had happened before and weren't comfortable at the moment. They didn't have time to work on it, and the more he was around Charles, the more and more he thought about how he would've been a human sacrifice if Alex hadn't saved him. It wasn't healthy, so he'd come home -- on his bike, no less, needing all the time to himself.

And then, he came home and found this. The lake wasn't exactly hidden from the driveway, and while Scott's sight wasn't the best, he was pretty sure that he saw Ororo and Logan quite .. naked. In broad daylight. Making out.

Which just wasn't appropriate.

Parking the bike, Scott sighed, pushing his hair out of his face as he stalked over. Maybe he was jealous, maybe he was sleep deprived, maybe misery just loved company, but he couldn't help but say, "This is a school, Ororo. Even I managed to keep it behind a door. I expected it from Logan, but ..." He shook his head. "Take it inside, please."

Oops. For all she had joked about getting into a more compromising position, she didn't actually expect to be bothered. But nonetheless Scott actually was right, and she had the sense to look slightly admonished -- but not embarrassed per se.

Pulling away from Logan with some difficulty, she looked straight at Scott. She could see Logan picking a fight with Scott just because right now, so she wanted to remain calm. "Of course. You're right, Scott, I apologize." And it wasn't often that Storm admitted to making any error. But here she did, even as she began to step from the water looking back at Logan with a smile. No, she wasn't done. She also blithely ignored the fact that she was exposing more of herself as she headed to the shore. What? Scott knew she had an issue with clothes upon arrival. She was just...reclaiming that part of her. Because every so often, 'Ro got tired of playing by the rules.

Logan looked like he was going to kill Scott, running a hand back through his hair and glaring. He didn't say a word to him, instead deciding to focus on Ororo leaving the lake. Ohhh, yes. Nice. Very nice. He'd had his hands all over her and Scott had ruined that.

Snarling, he stalked toward shore again, walking heavily through the water until he was back, naked, on the shore----and right in Scott's face. "You better not sleep too soundly tonight," he growled.

Just his luck, wasn't it? His oldest -- live -- friend decided to make out with Wolverine. But it was their business. Their business, not everyone's, which was what they were going to make it if they stayed naked in the lake.

Giving Logan a look -- it was less in the eyes, obviously, and more in the way his mouth twisted -- that was clearly protective in an almost brotherly sort of way, Scott turned away, not really in the mood to bicker with Logan. Though as he passed Ororo, he slid his jacket off, setting it on her shoulders, more for, well ... everyone else's sake. Maybe a little to show Logan he meant it. It wasn't that he'd wanted Ororo or anything -- and after being in the school for her arrival, he was ... kind of used to seeing her naked -- but there was a part of him that wasn't going to just stand by and let Logan do whatever he wanted without a reminder that Scott was very much a presence in the school again, either.

"Have fun," he said, with almost a hint of irony, shoving his hands in his pockets and stalking off.
