Thread: Gambit and Vertigo
Who: Remy Lebeau and Valerie Reed
When: Evening, Monday, December 17, 2007
Where: Mars, New York City
What: Vertigo just can't leave well enough alone. Oops.

________

Honestly, it wasn't like she was stalking him. God, no. God no. Not after he blew off her hand. That sort of thing just didn't make you want to see a person. Blowing appendages to smithereens meant that she was willing to avoid Remy Lebeau. Sure, she could gloat over how cool her robotic hand was, but really, now. The fact that he blew off her hand meant that he was probably willing to blow off other parts of her as well, and... well, she just didn't want that.

The trouble was, she had this nagging feeling when she saw him. This nagging feeling in the back of her head that made her want to approach him. She could have stayed her distance, could have minded her own business as she sat at a back booth at Mars, a pair of reading glasses sitting primly on her nose and her laptop open to x-traordinary.org while she spent her evening alone, but... where was the fun in that?

Exactly.

So when she saw him, she shifted. She pulled off her glasses. She pulled her hair out of its ponytail. She straightened her shoulders and checked to make sure her breasts were in the perfect position. And then, prowling like a green and white jungle cat, she left her booth and crossed to the bar.

"Digging up dead bodies is a bitch, isn't it." She grinned, rolling her head back as she leaned back against the bar. "Hi, sweetie."

Remy's sex drive was a thing of legend. But the thought of touching Vertigo again killed any thought of sex he'd had all evening. He winced when she yanked on his hair, as she was none to gentle at times. But he didn't pull away. Instead, he planted a hand at her hip. It was a gesture of intimate familiarity. Sex was a weapon he was well acquainted with as well.

"Know why He didn't care, cherie." He turned his head, moving out of range for those teeth. His fingertips trailed along her hipbone, although his words were hardly tender. "You ain't nothing but fodder."

His eyes flashed behind the smiling facade, becoming heated at her persistent threats. "Wanna start this one, Vee, and I can't guarantee you're gonna walk outta it."

"Ooooooh," Vertigo purred, shifting playfully. "Oooh, Remy, is that a threat? Is it? Are you threatening me? Babydoll, that's not very nice. You take off my hand and I'm justifiably angry with you and you're threatening me?" She pouted. "You can at least give me a free shot or two."

She traced her long artificial fingers over Remy's chest, distracting him just long enough so she could use her real hand to punch him in the side.

"Conveniently forgettin' the part where y'had a gun, ain't ya?" Remy hadn't forgotten. Not that little part of the story where she'd intended on putting a bullet in his brain.

He winced at the blow, grunting slightly at the unexpectedness of it. It wasn't that Remy had not expected Vertigo to take a swing at him. He just thought she'd wait until they were alone to do it.

Even as she was withdrawing her hand, he reached out to snag her wrist, digging his fingers into the pressure point between the radius and the ulna to make it go limp.

"Come on, Vee." The Cajun laughed at her, finding this whole thing genuinely amusing. "You really wanna do this here?"

"I don't care where we do it," said Vertigo, scowling. A few moments later, she was sending out her familiar psychic pulse, channeling it to Remy and Remy alone. Not her strongest dose, but certainly a little somethin' somethin' to remind him that she wasn't to be laughed at or pushed around.

He liked to mock her. She didn't fucking like to be mocked.

Remy grimaced at the sudden flood of nausea, anchoring himself by dropping an arm onto the bartop beside him. On his other hand, he gripped her wrist far tighter than he had before, enough to cause some immediate pain while digging his thumb further into the pressure point.

He was beginning to lose his patience. "Merde lil' girl, you got issues."

Didn't they all though, really? Essex didn't find the most mentally stable people n the first place and what he did to them didn't let them keep whatever stability they had.

Vertigo's face screwed up into a miserable expression of pain and she shifted from foot to food with a little whine. "You don't want a bitchslap from the RoboHand, Remy," she said, sounding like a pouting little girl who wasn't getting the cookie she desperately wanted. "I got issues. We all got issues. That's why he picks us up. That's why we're here. If we didn't have issues we wouldn't need that son of a bitch."
