Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Draco and Harry
Where: Dungeons below Hogwarts where Draco's being held prisoner
What: Draco finally gets rescued
When: Now!
Status: Incomplete/Threaded.
Rating: PG-13 most like, if not higher.

Draco was sitting in the farthest corner of his cell, just sitting there and staring blankly at the open wall before them. He'd been mostly left alone since he'd been put in here, save for the occasional meal that he got once a day--usually consisting of some random type of meat, bread and beverage. It wasn't the greatest diet, and it clearly showed in Draco's complexion: his skin was paler then it ever had been, as his tan had long since worn off, and he looked quite thin by now. There were darker circles beneath his eyes, as if he hadn't slept since he'd been tossed in here, which was, for the most part, true.

He was ever-thankful for the bloody journal to at least communicate with the outside world, otherwise Draco was certain he would have gone mad ages ago. Instead now, he just stared blankly forward, with the open journal beside him tear-blotched from his previous entry. It was obvious to anyone who came in that he'd been crying for most of the day, with his eyes blotched red from the emotions. For once in his life, Draco couldn't be damned what he looked like, and for Draco, that was saying quite a bit.

"You know..they say reading in the dark can hurt your eyes. I wouldn't recommend it." Harry fixed the glasses on his face, leaning against the bars of Draco's cell. He said he wasn't coming back to work for Bellatrix. He'd done what he wanted to and gotten what he needed from her. Now, he just owed Draco for what happened with Hermione. He'd never meant to have him turned in, but Hermione had done it as the only way to get him back alive.

He was dressed in business attire. Like he'd come in to do his job, but instead had hexed almost everyone that had gotten in his path. They would not be exiting the same way. Taking his wand out he tapped the lock a few times and it popped open for him.

He stood in the doorway, taking in Draco's condition. Hopefully, he could still move on his own.

"Bloody brilliant. Now I'm even--" Draco was about to say that now he was evening hearing Potter in his mind, but then his gaze drifted sideways until his eyes caught sight of the boy wonder himself, looking all proper, and ready to save him yet again. A fist clenched at Draco's side. "It's either that or I go mad, but I seem to have done that on my own quite effectively." Draco drew in a sharp breath, his voice slightly ragged as he spoke.

"I don't blame Granger, for the record. I would have done the same, in her situation." Draco bit back a short laugh, his eyes not leaving Harry's. "I don't want you saving me just because you pity me, Harry. I'm not going back into hiding after this. That's why I arranged that bloody meeting with my father in the first place. I was done running." If he had to stay here, and argue his way to freedom, then so be it. But Draco wasn't leaving this prison just for another.

"Fine you don't blame Hermione. And if you really want to stay locked up here that works too." He shrugged and walked out of the cell, closing the door behind him. "It wasn't out of sympathy or guilt. It was the fact that you'd cracked and you don't deserve to be mistreated like this by the people that are suppose to be your family. I don't take well to be people being punished by love ones whether I care for their company or not."

He leaned through the bars watching Draco closely. "But I spoke with your mother and she said she wanted you home, so I promised I would get you out of here because I still have the clearence and the smarts to know more then one way off the property. But like I said before..if you want to stay here and cry some more, I can go home.."

Narcissa wanted him home. And Potter knew he'd been treated wrongly. Those words were really all Draco heard, and he looked up as Potter walked out of the cell to stare distractedly after him. Potter spoke with his mother. Potter was acting like a Slytherin in order to get him rescued. Draco's gaze focused on the boy--no, Draco guessed it wouldn't be fair to call him the boy wonder as he really wasn't a boy anymore--cautiously.

"All right." Pushing himself upright after tucking his journal securely into his hand, Draco swayed a little when he finally regained his feet. More determined then he'd been in a long while, the still brunette pushed himself forward the few steps until he stood just on the other side of the bars, then he gazed directly at the other. "I don't know how far I can go," he whispered honestly, the words coming out shakily, as Draco clearly wasn't used to this sort of admission.

His mind was focused on the fact that Narcissa wanted him home, and that Potter had done him the honour of speaking with her and of getting him there. It wasn't something anyone had ever given him before.

Harry watched him on his feet, seeing how unstable he was. This was going to be an absolute treat. He sighed and got the door open, pulling a few potions out of his pocket and a bottle of firewhiskey from the bag slung over his shoulder. "Take the potions, have a swig and then follow me quietly. We have to go slow. I don't know how much longer these people are going to be stunned for. People everywhere watching the place. Sure someone has dejinxed them by now."

They had to get to the main hallway. There was a statue they could get behind and then make it through the tunnels out to the woods where Harry could apperate them where ever Draco needed him to go. From there he could notefy Narcissa and she could have her son back to take care of and GOD was he going to need it.

A low chuckle escaped Draco's throat, but he nodded cautiously as he took the potions from Harry. A close eye told him exactly what the potions were and he took them without thinking after he knew what they were made of. Taking a healthy swig of the firewhiskey, Draco handed the bottle back over to Potter with a smirk on his features. "One would wonder what you're doing with a random bottle of firewhiskey in your hands," he teased half-heartedly, but the look he gave was a grateful one.

Going slow would be interesting, for Draco at least. He hadn't been out of that cell since...well, Merlin knew how long it had really been. Two weeks? A week? It all blended together in Draco's head right now.

"You asked me to bring you a drink. So I did." He grinned and moved along, checking all the corners to make sure they were alone. The people on the stairs were still a part of the stairs, so no one had come by to free them yet. Which meant they had a good shot of sneaking out before anyone came around to switch the guards.

He waved for Draco to follow and reached into the bag, pulling out the invisibilty cloak. Before Draco could say anything, he'd draped it over the boys head and pushed him along in front of him. If they saw just Harry it wouldn't be a problem, because technically, he still worked there. But Draco wandering around would set off some bells.

They made it to the statue and he moved the rgiht stone, the wall opening up behind it just enough for them to crawl out. "You go first," he whispered, keeping an eye out.

A slow, gentle grin fell onto Draco's features as he almost let out a happy laugh at the fact that Harry actually remembered that--especially seeing as how the other had been completely knackered when he'd said that.

When Potter pulled out a cloak--an invisibility cloak, if Draco's memory served him correctly--Draco had opened his mouth to try to say something in question, but he soon found it over his head, and found himself being pushed along in front of Harry. Trusting Harry, Draco kept his mouth shut and used his years of training to walk silently in front of Harry until they approached some statue. His eyes narrowed on the opening before them, then kneeled down carefully and pushed himself onward. The potions were certainly helping, but even Draco knew that once they wore off--he'd likely want to sleep for three days straight.

Harry followed behind him quietly, taking the cloak back when they were far enough into the tunnel that he knew no one would see them. He tucked it safely back into his back and proceeded onward.

Once they got to a bigger area, he stood up and took the lead, tapping on a few bricks with his wand. The wall opened up and they were looking out onto the main lawn. The woods were close on this side of the castle and they'd make it there easily.

"You go first and then I'll follow.."

Letting Harry take the cloak, Draco kept pushing onward, focused on just getting them out of there alive. Fancy that. He and Harry Potter were fleeing Hogwarts together. A chuckle escaped Draco's lips before he could help himself at the irony of the situation, and then he kept pushing forward.

Gray eyes landed on the woods, and Draco stared directly at them with a dark look. The last time...He shuddered briefly, but then remembered who he was with. Harry Potter. One glance backward told him that Potter was there, and he probably wouldn't risk Narcissa's wrath should anything happen to her precious son during this escape. That thought gave him enough courage to push himself forward, and as he did, a strange sensation crept over Draco. Some detached, crazy part of him wondered if this was the last he'd ever really see of Potter. If this was Potter's way of closing out their odd, strange friendship--if it could even be called that. Nearly at the woods, Draco stopped suddenly, turning round to face the other briefly.

"You were right," he murmured softly, not really explaining more in that situation. "You all were right." He knew they should be fleeing to the forest. But Draco felt like he had to gain control of this some how, and this was the only way he could think of right now.

Harry stopped when he did, staring at him in confusion. "What the hell are you doing?! Keep walking or we're going to get caught you twit." He pushed him along a little more, hearing someone behind them.

Pushing Draco into the woods there was an exchange of lights and Harry followed him in, his sleeve stained red from the shoulder down. "Come on. We have to move in a little deeper before we can Apperate off the school grounds."

He wanted to scream, to tell Harry why he'd said what he'd had, but--self-preservation kicked in first. Draco let Harry lead him inward into the forest, and his gaze stared directly ahead in silence as they kept walking inward.

He felt safer with Potter here, but even so, he allowed his gaze to dart sideways every now and then to check to see if anyone was getting too close to them. As he looked around, however, a shudder wracked his body as his mind started to realize exactly where he was. Deep inside the Forbidden Forest. And he couldn't let himself think that much. It was better to just keep trudging forward, despite the urge to yell and to scream at Harry what was coursing through his head right now.

Harry looked around, taking in where they were, trying to decide if they were far enough now to get out of here. He needed to decide where he wanted to drop Draco off at too, since he'd only been to the Lestrange Manor before. He'd never been to the Malfoy manor and he didn't even know if that was where Narcissa was.

Ripping his sleeve open more he took a look at the slash in his shoulder. Not as bad as it could have been. "All right. Where am I taking you?"

"My own flat." Draco gazed sternly back at Harry. "I know Mother wants me home, but I need to clean up a bit before. And I've..." He bit his lip for a moment. "I've not been there in so long. It's downtown London." His gaze landed sharply on the slash in Harry's arm, seeing the blood more then anything, and wondering how in the world it had gotten there.

"I don't think anyone you know would fancy you returning hurt after saving me," commented Draco quietly. "I can fix it up, quite easily, actually." His lips quirked into a small smile.

"It was a stray hex. I'm fine, no worries. Just chalk it up as nother scar. All right then. We'll get you back home and I'll inform your mother that's where she can find you. You can clean up and then she'll get you to where ever it is she wants you. But I'm not coming to save you again. We're even now yeah?"

That and he was in Narcissa Malfoy's good graces. Something he would keep in mind if the time arose that he might need her help.

Part of Draco was sorely tempted to ask, Never again?, but he bit the question down. Now wasn't the time for those sarcastic, witty remarks that he could toss out so easily. Instead, he shrugged lightly. "If you insist," he murmured softly.

Harry had somehow maneuvered this situation so that he was repaying Draco, and he'd just gotten himself another very powerful ally. Draco shook his head slowly as he realized exactly what was happening, and he chuckled a little as well. "And Harry? For the record? You would have made a damn good Slytherin, but I think that's partially why you're a bloody brilliant Gryffindor, too." And Draco waited for the jokes to follow, but he really didn't care anymore. It was true. If Harry had maneuvered this situation so everything worked out properly, then even Draco had to recognize that.

"As wonderfully as the color of the robes would have matched my eyes, I think I'm happy with the house I chose." And he left the comment at that. The hat had given Harry a choice and he took the house he'd thought he'd fit in best. Obviously, he was right.

"You think you can make it home alone?"

"I think I can manage it from here." Draco gazed around briefly, then solidly held out his hand to Harry. "Thank you." He looked over at the other, his eyes staring straight at Harry's now.

"And I meant what I said before, Harry. You were right, this whole time, you were all right. It seems it took prison to get me to get my head out of my arse, but you all were right. No bloody clue where to go from here, but there you are. And..." Draco hesitated briefly. "I'm sorry. For making your life hell for so many years. Or for trying to, at any rate." He chuckled softly, his hand still held out.

For some reason, this seemed super important to Draco to say.

Harry looked from Draco to his hand and shook his head, taking his hand in his. He shook it and sighed. "Go sleep on it Draco. You can always change your mind. I'll tell your mother you're safe."

He stepped back and waited for the other to Apperate before he did himself. Just to make sure he really got away and there were no interuptions.

You can always change your mind? He wondered what the hell that meant, but even Draco could tell that now was not the best time to argue. Not when Harry had just saved his arse, yet again. He made the handshake quick and firm, then gave Harry a solid glance once more. "Thanks. I'll contact her as well. I...thanks." The former blonde glanced around once more, then Apparated from the spot.

Once safe inside his old flat, which seemed so empty from before, with Astoria, Draco collapsed weakly onto his old bed and just sat there in silence. What was he doing now? He'd cracked, that much was evident, but now Draco had to pull himself together--and it would be interesting to see just how he pulled that one off now.
