The Wizard's Wand was probably the greatest place on Earth, or so Ron felt. He and the bartender were becoming quite friendly, Williamson was frequently there and in the mood to shag, and they had some of the greatest drinks known to wizard kind. The things the bartender could do with firewhiskey were just brilliant, and Ron had indulged deeply. He wanted to forget everything. He wanted to forget the fire at the Ministry, from which he had a burn mark on his hand that didn't seem to want to go away. He wanted to forget about Auror training, which was increasingly difficult. Most of all, he wanted to forget about the kiss.
He and Harry had kissed. Harry had initiated the kiss, and then Harry had pushed Ron away. Ron could only assume that Harry was either caught up in the moment and had quickly come to his senses, or didn't like the way Ron kissed. Either excuse was valid, of course, but Ron would never know which it was because they'd never discuss it. For the past week, he and Harry were just awkward around each other. They avoided each others' eyes and managed to be home at different times, and all in all it was generally unpleasant. And since they'd destroyed the stock of time turners at the Ministry of Magic (well, maybe there were more now?) there was no way Ron could change things.
So he drank. He drank and he drank until he was good and drunk. And then he went home (though if things continued this way, maybe he'd move in with George or something). He stumbled through the fireplace trying not to fall over. He didn't care if Harry was there. He made it through the fireplace and then immediately lay down on the rug, thanking Merlin that the Blacks enjoyed the finest things, including rugs. Here he would stay forever and always.
