He was gone before she could protest his hair tugging habit. Hauling herself to her feet, she headed toward the nearest MLE person. Obviously standing guard over an empty farm cottage was a duty for the youngest and most pimply trainee. When the kid drew breath, Valmae, who was in no mood to cater to the ego of miniature cops, rolled right over him. "I'm not staying. I'm going to feed the cats and the chickens then I'm going to stay with a friend tonight. I'll take the dog with me."
The boy looked to be thinking about protesting but when both the dog and the American witch growled at him, he decided discretion was the better part of valor especially when she'd appeared with a fellow Hit Wizard.
Leaving Puddin' to guard the kid, she went inside and found her wand where it had rolled up against one of the bookcases. It was amazing how much better she felt with it in her hand especially since it wasn't broken. It was the work of a few minutes to throw together her away game bag and to put out food for the cats. Walking out past the kid again, she went to fill up the chickens' water and to scatter their food around. That would keep them until the next evening.
