Meaghan exhaled deeply, like a breath she didn't know she was holding was finally being let go. Charlie wanted her, needed her, and she didn't even hesitate to grab her wand and apparate to St. Mungo's. Even thought she realized that she and Charlie weren't together in any sense yet, it didn't stop Meaghan from caring about him. They had been friends before he'd gone off to Romania, though she hadn't, of course, thought of him as anything else. They might be moving very slow by some standards, but Meaghan felt connected to Charlie. She liked that he was kind, and silly, and yes, a bit awkward. That was how she saw herself. And right now, he needed her. There was no place else she wanted to be.
It was with something close to surprise that Meaghan glanced around the hospital and noticed she was gathering stares. She was confused at first, and went to ask the Welcome Witch where she could find Bill and Charlie Weasley when she found out why. "Are you visiting him, or is he visiting you?" the woman asked, giving her a strange look. Meg tilted her head, confused, until the witch elaborated. "Your pajamas?" Meaghan colored and looked down at herself. Sure enough, she was still dressed for bed. "Er, I was in a bit of a hurry," she mumbled, and the witch giggled and showed her the floor. She tried to run her hands through her hair and thought about apparating back to the cottage to change, but it was rather too late now. Setting her chin and her resolve, she made her way to the wing where she would find Charlie waiting.
When she stepped out of the lift, she saw him in the waiting area almost immediately, and her heart pounded. He looked both awful and the same beautiful that had set her heart racing the first time she'd seen him at the Quidditch game. And she was in pink pajamas. She walked up to him and sat down in the chair by his side, taking his hand in hers. "I'm sorry," she started, not knowing what else to say.
