It was occasionally nice to have an evening away from the children. Not that she'd really had an evening off to do anything by herself since Tommy died, but even the evenings off to go meet up with a friend were nice and enough. Although this wasn't strictly for fun. Pansy trusted Luag's opinion since he seemed to have a similar mindset. And was more easily accessible than some of her other friends. Most of her friends had plenty of their own troubles to deal with. And perhaps, if Nate was around, after whiskey tea she could get a reading. Maybe it was all silly and she shouldn't bother Luag with it even. Before she could cancel though, Luag was flooing over with Cody and getting him settled with the girls and Pansy's parents (and the ever vigilant house elf), and Pansy was following Luag through the floo to his home. Taking a seat at the kitchen table, she rested her hands on the table as she sighed.

"It's so odd to hear nothing but silence in a home. Happens so rarely," she said.

[Note: Owls went out Saturday morning including a note and a portkey to friends of Pansys, children at the school and their parents, and other folks who might have a reason to be there. (If you think your char might be there, they were probably invited) The portkey activates at 1pm and transports guests to the Holyhead Harpies pitch. An area has been decorated with tables and chairs and there is plenty of food and drink. There were various activities for the children (and children at heart to do). Ginny and perhaps some other Harpies players were around. OOC summaries or threads at the party are allowed. Presents not required.

It had become standard for the badgers of level one to work through lunch. The security detail, however, changed shifts every four hours. Zach and Robbie, among others, had taken to practically living in their offices. There was so much to do, meetings to attend, things to get done to hold the fort down. It had been a surprise when the wizards had stormed in, demanding access to the Minister's office. Had they really thought that a hostile take over would work? Perhaps they were expecting to find Level One deserted. Instead they found a group of devoted Ministry officials prepared to defend the Minister's office.

The rest happened rather quickly. There were spells fired on all sides, but before long, the leader of their group was lying dead on the floor and Zach was on the ground, clutching his left arm and blood pouring from a gash in his head.

There was a rush of movement then and before he knew what was going on, Zach found himself being fussed over by healers at St. Mungo's.

Now he felt like he was floating, smiling goofily from pain potions when he heard a knock on the door and saw Justin come in.

"Hey.." he said tiredly.

Zacharias was settling into his new office adjoining the Minister's. He wasn't sure if he had the training to be a personal secretary, but now he was Amos' assistant. So he managed his schedule and was a buffer, preventing others from bother the Minister unnecessarily. It was definitely more work than his previous job, but it put him in a better political position. Let the resistance think he was still their man for now. Soon the truth would come out. When the time was right, Amos assured him.

Zach flipped through the memos coming in, sorting what the Minister needed to see and what he didn't. He almost missed the knock on the open door. Looking up, he smiled at Justin.

"Hey. Come to check out the new office?" he asked casually.

Luag had been tense all day which hadn't been an oddity at work. Everyone was tense. You could almost taste it in the air. As if what the Ministry had been doing hadn't bee enough, there were Death Eaters running about now. While they never graced the isles much, that didn't stop people worrying about a visit or about their family and friends on the mainland.

Friends like Mandy. He knew he should be more sympathetic to Malfoy, he understood how that sort of loss felt, but Mandy being hurt drowned that out. Especially since it was Malfoy being who he was that had brought that danger to her. That plus all the other things circling around in his head made it hard to sit still. So when he went home, he avoided the house and walked the grounds, figuring it was worth checking the wards again before he had to go pick Cody up from the school. The wards were old and strong, but he needed to ease his mind about it.

The charity ball had been wonderful and a nice break from everything else that had been happening. Granted, the company definitely helped with that as well as the substances said company brought to help loosen up and the wine at the ball. There had been actual dancing which was getting harder and harder to find sometimes on the charity circuit and the food available had been good. The crowd had been surprisingly younger too, so there hadn't been nearly as many as his parents' friends around to inquire about how he was or to give him the knowing and suspecting looks they did around this time of year.

The night was actually nice and the event not too far from Eva's flat, so they decided to enjoy the open air and walk home with the promise that if Eva's feet started to hurt they could always apparate or hail a cab. He offered an arm to her as they left, feeling more relaxed and comfortable in his skin than he had in a long time, but maybe that was just the drugs talking. "You were as lovely as ever, Ms. Montgomery," he said with a smile. "Even without old men about to inappropriately ogle you."

Penelope and Gus had reserved the Cadogan Arms for their party - It was easier that way and they'd been there enough to know the owners. Upstairs was the billiard room - with pool tables, a bar, and appetizers and downstairs there were tables, the fireplace, full bar, and a dance floor. Penny didn't really care about presents - this was more an opportunity to get together with all their friends and have a good time.

Luag had been a bit worried with the journal entries that morning that his 'date' with Mandy and the twins might be cancelled. He wasn't all that sure what he could do about the situation though and was glad when Mandy still wanted to meet if just because it was something to keep his mind occupied rather than letting it spin in circles. At the moment, he was attempting to get a few pictures of Cody and the twins playing outside with the camera his mother reluctantly gave to him. He was a bit wary that she was actually giving him family things without much of a fight, but that was another thing better not left to mull in his head for long.

Grumbling under his breath in Gàidhlig, he finally puffed out an aggravated sigh before looking up over to where Mandy was. "The picture willnae be clear," he said with a scowl. "It just stays blurry."
