Turning the page on her book, Mandy sucked lightly on the end of her sugar quill ans smiled ever so slightly. She was deep in her current novel, using her quill to take notes as she went along. It wasn't an assignment, at least not exactly, she just wanted to do a bit further research on the period they were currently covering in History of Magic. A combination of her favourite subject, the current coursework and a bit of pleasure reading, meant Mandy could slack off for a few hours and yet not feel guilty in the slightest.
Jotting down a point on the parchment, Mandy shifted her weight slightly in her spot. She was currently lying down on the far cushion of the large sofa in the common room. The room itself was mostly deserted with a handful of firsties sitting at one of the study tables toward the far end of the room. Mandy had the whole sofa to herself, though she'd tried to occupy minimal space, with her back on the main seat cushion, her legs swung over the armrest. Somehow, this position was just that much more comfortable than sitting regularly, plus it allowed her to rest the book more comfortably. Swinging her legs slowly back and forth as her eyes moved over the words on the novel lying on her lap, Mandy barely noticed as someone settled down next to her.
