“What do you miss the most about the holidays, laddie?”
“I miss the snow.” Ensign Chekhov looked pensive for a moment. “I imagine you have no idea what true winter weather is like.” His eyes twinkled in merriment.
“I am from the Highlands of Scotland, lad. I know all about snow, sleet and ice.” Scott bristled a bit.
“Fah, your island snows are nothing compared to Father winter. Snowfall in Russia happens for so many months, we keep our swimming pools heated so that they do not ice over.”
“You want ice, I will give you ice, mister.”
“How, flood the hanger deck and open the doors?” Chekhov hoped Scott was drunk enough to take the bait.
Scotty blinked, considering. “Aye, now that would make for a bonny skating rink.”
