Sometime between the 6th and the 7th of December Harry discovered that he had nothing to decorate the Christmas Tree (that he hadn't bought yet) with. A raid of his boxes in the attic - some of which he had brought here from Grimmauld Place - produced nothing but melancholic tears and he found that he would have to go shopping.
When he finally stood in front of the decoration he found himself overwhelmed by the sheer mass that was offered. He should probably first decide on the colour, Harry thought and tilted his head. Would gold be a good idea?

Christmas, Severus thought disdainfully as he wandered through Diagon Alley, still on a hunt for a perfect present for Harry. Christmas was the only time in the year when red and gold, and green and silver were combined. It was disconcerting, really. Because what good could ever come of a union like that? And yet ... yet was Christmas a holiday that stereotypically symbolised happiness, joy and peace.
Severus shook his head. No, gold didn't belong in his world and happy Christmases didn't exist there either.
But he couldn't deny that some part in him longed for a change in that matter.
