Thank you to everyone who has been reading and commenting! It was a lot of fun writing these, and I'm so happy you gave my pet rare pair a try! Happy Holidays to all of you!
"Scorpius, where's your mother?"
"He's upstairs changing."
"Again?"
"Well, erm, I asked him to. I wouldn't have if it wasn't for Piedmont coming today. His mum looks at me funny. 'An he's always sayin' that it isn't right for me to have a mother who's... well, you know."
"Indeed. So, it will be Astoria today?"
Scorpius nodded solemnly.
"It's alright," Draco said, patting his son on his shoulder. "And she'll bring your sister, too, then?"
"Yup! Oh, an' don't forget. You said we can go visit Albus after dinner!"
Draco sighed. "Did I?"
"You promised mum. So, we hafta do it!"
There was a knock on the door. Scorpius wiped his hands off on his nice dress robes and ran off. "I'll get it!"
"Good Gods," Draco sighed. The last thing he wanted was to deal with Pansy and Theo Nott all day and then go to the Potters, of all places. Still, he did derive just the slightest amusement at the fact that not only had Harry not yet figured out that Astoria was Gilderoy in his female Veela form, but that his boys - and his Weasley-wife, as well, were all completely enthralled by his wife.
As always, it was the little things that made life worth living.
Speaking of which...
"Are you ready?" Draco asked as he opened the door of their bedroom.
"Just about," Gilderoy Astoria replied. Draco watched as his husband's? wife's? *ahem* spouse's golden hair flowed down to the back of his neck. Gilderoy tucked in his wings as his transformation finished, pulling his waist in and narrowing his shoulders. Finally he turned and smiled. "I look better as a man, of course."
"Of course." Draco went up and kissed her on the cheek, then full on the mouth. "Is Cassie still sleeping?"
"Mmmm. It took her a while. She likes Gilderoy better than Astoria, as well."
"I think we all do. Still, I can understand Scorpius' point on this. Pansy and Theo are nothing if not ruthless when it comes to advancing their name while trampling others."
"And what about the Potters? Can I go as Gilderoy today?"
Draco considered it for a moment. It would probably be the source of endless amusement to Potter if he found out that Draco had married Gilderoy Lockhart, and they had two children together.
On the other hand, the way Astoria was looking at him just then made his heart clench, and threatened to choke him. "Oh, don't do that to me. You know I can't resist your manipulations when you do that." Draco pulled her close and kissed all along her neck. Honestly, he would love nothing else than to have his man with him all the time. No more of this transforming into a squishy woman filled with cavities where there ought to be appendages. Bad enough he had to live with her during her first gestation of 6 months and the second one of 4 and a half months. But for every outing, as well?
"I'll make a deal with you," Draco finally said. "We'll tell everyone - the Notts, the Goyle's, the Flints, and the Potters and Weasleys, but you need to do something for me, in return."
The Astoria image faltered, and Gilderoy slipped back into himself. "Really? Oh, really?!" He rested his head on Draco's shoulder. "Anything. I'll do... anything."
Their bracelets hummed. Draco's smile would have given Lucifer, himself, the shivers.
